“This gifted musician (Yuri Hooker) was technically precise while pouring his heart
and soul into his performance.”
– Winnipeg Free Press
Acclaimed Mexican conductor Carlos Miguel Prieto appears in his WSO debut.
Saint-Saëns’ Organ Symphony is one of the most entertaining orchestral works by
a French composer and one of the most popular in all music.
We start the program with Silvestre Revueltas’ Redes, the first of his ten Mexican
film scores. WSO principal cellist Yuri Hooker performs David Scott’s Cello
Concerto. An avid chamber musician with exceptionally diverse interests, Yuri
Hooker has premiered many pieces and continues an adventurous enthusiasm for
cello music of today.
