Program Objectives: The School of Theatre is dedicated to preparing students of all identities<br />

for professional and academic careers in arts and cultural industries. Our programming commits<br />

to spotlighting topical issues, celebrating shared social values, and exploring humanity. With<br />

diversity, equity, and inclusion among our core values, we work to honor the experience,<br />

perspectives, and unique identities of our students, faculty, staff, guest artists, and audience.<br />

History: LSU Theatre has a long and rich tradition extending back to 1928. In 1992, Swine<br />

Palace was founded in association with LSU Theatre as a non-profit professional theatre<br />

company supporting the educational mission of the School of Theatre. Today, the School<br />

remains one of a handful of programs in the country with an affiliate Equity theatre providing our<br />

students the opportunity to work alongside leading professionals and giving our patrons access<br />

to some of the brightest talent in the country.In 2010, LSU Theatre received the honor of being<br />

the only American university invited to perform in the renowned Young Theatre Festival in<br />

Seoul, South Korea.<br />

Facilities, Classrooms, and Theatres: Music and Dramatic Arts Building includes performance<br />

venues such as the historic Claude L. Shaver Theatre (seats 350) and creation of a new<br />

black-box Studio Theatre.<br />

Reilly Theatre (Swine Palace)<br />

Union Theatre- The LSU Student Union Theater is a 1,269 seat proscenium arch theater<br />

complete with an orchestra pit. Seating is stadium style with no overhanging balcony.<br />

Scholarships and/or Assistantships: LSU School of Theatre offers several internship and<br />

scholarship opportunities to prospective students.<br />
