GOING COASTAL ROUTE<br />

There is noth<strong>in</strong>g greater than hav<strong>in</strong>g the convenience of liv<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong><br />

the <strong>Palmas</strong> bubble and hav<strong>in</strong>g a great selection of gastronomic experiences<br />

just a few m<strong>in</strong>utes away <strong>in</strong> your golf cart. Hav<strong>in</strong>g said<br />

that, some days are meant for hitt<strong>in</strong>g the road and explor<strong>in</strong>g some<br />

cool hideouts along the way, otherwise known as “Ch<strong>in</strong>chorreo”.<br />

In true <strong>Palmas</strong> Fashion, I must tweak the term just a bit and add<br />

some “Glam” to the mix s<strong>in</strong>ce every out<strong>in</strong>g is a new opportunity to<br />

showcase our best Glamchorreo style. Just 5 miles south of <strong>Palmas</strong><br />

del Mar, you will f<strong>in</strong>d yourself on the COASTAL ROUTE start<strong>in</strong>g<br />

from Yabucoa and mak<strong>in</strong>g your last stop at Guayama. Aside from<br />

the breathtak<strong>in</strong>g views on your left-hand side, it is amaz<strong>in</strong>g to see<br />

so many new bus<strong>in</strong>esses thriv<strong>in</strong>g consider<strong>in</strong>g this area was severely<br />

impacted dur<strong>in</strong>g Hurricane Maria. Here is a list of the spots and<br />

recommendations of what to order <strong>in</strong> each one:<br />

The Yabucoa-Guayama Road Trip<br />

La Burbu, Yabucoa | Make sure to order a Shrimp Stuffed Arepa, Alcapurria de Jueyes<br />

or Pastelillo de Chap<strong>in</strong>.<br />

El Balconcito del Cielo, Yabucoa | Grab yourself a ready-to-go fritter like tostones<br />

with carne frita and take <strong>in</strong> those amaz<strong>in</strong>g views.<br />

Túnel Maunabo, Maunabo | On your way to Waikiki, you will f<strong>in</strong>d yourself go<strong>in</strong>g<br />

through the Maunabo Tunnel, which is a cool spot for an adrenal<strong>in</strong>e-full picture. (Just<br />

remember to be very cautious)<br />

Waikiki, Patillas | This roadside spot <strong>in</strong> front of the beach will surprise you with its<br />

small but gourmet dishes like the fish tacos and ribs.<br />

El Marullo, Patillas | Great spot to order a mojito and watch some surfers catch<strong>in</strong>g<br />

waves at Inches Beach.<br />

Frappé Vista al Manatí, Patillas---Here you will f<strong>in</strong>d a variety of frappes but what<br />

I like most about this place is grabb<strong>in</strong>g a fresh octopus salad and go<strong>in</strong>g upstairs for<br />

the view.<br />

Malecón De Arroyo, Arroyo | Charm<strong>in</strong>g area with Street Art where you can try<br />

your luck <strong>in</strong> the pool table with some locals at El Portar.<br />

Prime Market, Guayama | The perfect spot to unw<strong>in</strong>d with a nice glass of w<strong>in</strong>e<br />

and delicious tapas. Make sure to try their meatballs and tuna tartar…you will not regret it!<br />
