@sainteclectic

One of the greatest scourges of NFT mania has been the

emergence of low-effort cash grabs Some are blatantly obvious

while some are harder to spot until it’s too late. I will go through

some examples and a case study so you can identify these in

future.

It is never fun or easy to write these threads. You must do the

research, gather information and be absolutely sure you get it

right when calling out projects. Having said that, the community

should absolutely do this to improve the space for us and future

participants.

So, what are the

typical hallmarks of

cash grab projects?

1. Low-effort art

repurposed / stolen

from cheap sources

2. Hyped launch

(twitter influencers),

large amount of

Sol collected then

community neglected

3. Vague promises

(“video game”)

4. Invite competitions

for whitelist.

The Saint EclecTIc

Red flag #1: Low-effort

art being repurposed.

We’ve seen some of this happen already with @solanabirbs and

@SolanaBullsNFT. People were quick to spot the repurposed

art and the projects have since suffered.

@PunksonSolana by @SolanartNFT is also another great

example of this.

The difference is

that

@PunksOnSolana

was used to

kickstart one

of the biggest

marketplaces on

Solana and it was

the first Sol mint to

sell out. You can

dislike the “low

effort art” but the

true art is in the code and historical significance of the project.

@sainteclectic Replying to @yellowfln

There is no cultural significance about Solpunks other than being

a barometer for bad taste. It is a straight rip of solpunks and run

as a cash grab project by Solanart, who have a track record of

doing these things. It has built no community. Accounts wash

trade solpunks.

Besides calling out, we can start to educate people to look out for

red flags for rugs or obviously shitty projects.

- High number of followers, but crap engagement.

- A really shitty website made with MS Paint.

- “Invite X people and stand a chance to win [some shit.]”

SoL Big Brain

@SOLBigBrain

@Danuki_Dojo

2877 holders on

6666 supply. A little

over 10% supply

listed. This has done

very well since mint.

Good luck hunting!

@RogueSharkTank

Due to the Fair Launch a

HUGE amount of unique

wallet address. 3657 of

4984. Almost 74%. Sadly

though 1564 are listed

for sale or just over

30%. Art is quality and

one of the most hyped

drops!

@NFTreesOnSol 3289

Holders of 10K supply. Not

great, but not bad. They are

listed on FTX as well so dig

in and see if you like the

TREES :)

@MechNFTs Saw many

people hyping this one

up but I did not look into

it too deep. We got the

data up so start digging in

and looking for your OWN

rares. Art is solid!

I like redistribution of royalties and no I don’t think it

makes NFTs a “security”. But overall they are only useful

and you should only keep them if your holders are making

at least .5 $SOL a week at minimum. If not just use them

to do stuff for the community and get on FTX.

@TurtlesNFT did the right thing by dropping royalties

from them. I’m not going to say how much they were

going to airdrop, but I think it was worth getting listed on

FTX over keeping royalty sharing.

@digitize_ai

“Choose your partner of the digital age” A tech-welcoming

future still requires companionship. Purchase a

full build, or purchase .ai parts to assemble/trade with

others to assemble your own custom ai partner. Solo

artists hand curating their best 10 hand-drawn pieces

every other week.
