This leaflet aims at providing information to those seeking to heal in an integral
perspective.
All therapists listed are Aurovilians and practice therapy in the vision of Sri
Aurobindo and The Mother. Integral Yoga implies seeing ones role as a therapist as
a catalyst, trusting the inherent knowing and source of healing in each human
being. The intention of therapy is to activate the body’s self-healing processes,
leading to an integrated re-alignment and balance on all levels of the being -
mind, emotion, body and spirit.
Those visiting and willing to volunteer their therapeutic skills are most welcome to

Therapies in Auroville
Acupuncture
Is based upon the ancient Chinese knowledge of the meridians or energy pathways
running through the body. It uses ultra-fine needles, which are inserted into
precise points along the meridians, to clear energy blockages and stimulate the
overall energy flow. It treats a wide variety of conditions, acute to chronic,
hormonal, neurological and inflammatory.

Ai Chi
Provides mind & body relaxation, increased balance, pain management, improved
range of motion & general mobility, strengthening of core muscles, increased
metabolism and blood circulation, mental alertness etc. It also contributes to

relaxed awareness.

Aquatic bodywork
Is given in a warm water pool (ideally 35° C). With a complete sense of presence
and attention, the therapist moves, folds, stretches, and massages the client's
floating body on the surface, inducing a profound state of both physical and
mental relaxation. Aquatic bodywork offers an opportunity for profound relaxation
and letting go, for releasing emotions and traumas

Healing practitioner – German “Heilpraktiker” / Naturopath
This is a healing profession certified by the German government which allows the
legal practice of alternative medicine for most medical conditions, except medical
emergencies and serious infectious diseases. It is either a fulltime or part-time 3
year training in general medicine, naturopathy, homoeopathy, Bachflower
Remedies, Biochemical tissue salts, acupuncture, Traditional Chinese Medicine,
etc. After certification by the German Health Department, healing practitioners
usually do specialised training and /or internships in homoeopathy, acupuncture,
craniosacral therapy, osteopathy, psychotherapy, etc. for another 3 years or more,
before opening their private clinic. Most German Health Insurance
Companies cover the cost of treatment.
Similar training and certification for Naturopathy or the practice of alternative
medicine exists in England, USA, Canada and several other European countries
since many years. In India the certification as “Alternative Medical Doctor” has
been developed recently.

Midwifery
Holistic midwifery implies offering guidance and establishing a close contact with
the pregnant woman throughout the pregnancy, birth and the weeks after birth.
Midwifes are trained to work in a hospital situation as well as conducting deliveries
at home. Holistic midwifery combines therapeutic approaches and allopathic work

diarrhea, constipation, backaches, stress, anxiety…
