A Cool New Boat Emerges
with Axopar Brand
Within 30 days of entering my
retirement, I set out on fulfilling a
dream I have had for a long time. I
have always wanted to own a nice
center-console fishing boat and use
it to take family and friends out in
the beautiful waters of the Gulf of
Mexico. I have been on countless
charter fishing trips in my life and
always have been impressed with
the knowledge of the captain and
crew on how to find and catch fish,
regardless of the conditions. It appeals
to my sense of being a hunter
and I too want to learn how to read
the signs given by the open water
and know I can find tuna, mackerel,
mahi, grouper, snapper, and all of
the other great game fish in the Gulf.
The boat acquisition journey
began with my usual amount of
research determining what brand,
size, equipment package,
etc. that would
best suit my area of
Florida and the type
of boating I want to
do. Additionally, my
wife and I agreed
that we wanted a
boat that she would
enjoy as much as me
when we take our
family and friends out
for cruising, not just
fishing. Well, I found
some nice hybrid
boats that offer a lot
for both fishing and
family cruising and
was almost ready to lock down on
a boat when I by chance went to an
in-the-water boat show in Maine
and discovered a most unusual
looking boat called the Axopar 37XC.
The “37” stands for 37-foot long and
the “XC“ stands for Crossover Cabin.
When you climb on board this cool
looking vessel you feel like it is a
cross between a center-console, a
cabin cruiser, and a family boat but
my wife describes it as an RV on the
water. Axopar is a company based
in Finland and the boats are built in
Poland. They are luxury recreational
boats that serve as family cruisers,
offshore fishing boats, and commercial
charter boats. Their unusual
look comes from their sharp bow
that cuts through waves and chop
and the pilot house that totally encloses
the helm. I am going to outfit
an Axopar 37XC for fishing along the
Florida Coast, complete with outriggers,
live well, and a rigging table
but will also have full AC in the pilot
house and cabin below and wet bar
at the stern. Axopar really wants to
be known as the adventure company
so they also equip their boats
with a rack on top of the pilot house
to allow for a kayak and a couple
of bikes for those day trips to local
ports where you can explore both
onshore and offshore. Sounds like a
perfect day on the water to me.
There are just some many cool
features I have discovered about
Axopar that if you are in the market
for that boat of a lifetime, you
must experience an Axopar. While
my boat is going to fit my retirement
lifestyle in Florida, the
Axopar 28 that won the
2020 boat of the year
would be great for the
many lakes around the
US, and for 2022 they
are introducing a 25’
model. Go check out

for now I just have to
dream so more, but
soon it will become a
reality.
