Remember Clocks Change This Month - October
Dear Reader
Well it certainly has
been an awkward
time for us all
trying to understand new
rules and restrictions. It gets
so confusing. After all this time
let’s hope it will not be long now
before normality returns. It has also been
difficult to accept wearing masks, for me it is
uncomfortable, again keeping fingers crossed
it doesn’t last too long at least we don’t wear
them when outside now?
As the summer has come to an end as
the days are cooler, however our October
issue will brighten up your day. Whatever
the weather’s like outside your window,
consider that the sun is well and truly
shining in our Out & About Costa Blanca
magazine, all year round. As always you
will find something amazing and different
with every edition. In the pages of the
Out & About magazine, you are spoilt for
choice when it comes to articles to read on
different stimulating and exciting subjects
and on every page you will find something
of interest. Having so many professional
journalists writing such fascinating articles.
Although the summer brought excitement
October is as busy. Time and Tide waits for
no man and I cannot believe how quickly
the summer has gone and how soon things
start to change. For example, this month,
remember the clocks go back an hour on
Sunday, October 31, 3:00 am and in England
go back 1 hour at 2am on 31st October.
To remember which way to set your watch,
keep in mind “spring forward, fall back”.
You set your clock forward in the spring
when Daylight Saving Time (DST) starts
thus lose one hour and back one hour when
DST ends in the fall, so we gain an hour by
turning the clock back. DST is a
change in the standard time with
the purpose of making better use
of daylight and conserving energy.
The birthstones and flowers for
October are Opal or Tourmaline,
Calendula or Cosmos. The two signs
associated with the month of October are
Libra and Scorpio. People born from October
1st to October 22nd are members of the
Libra sign. The people born under the Sign
Libra are kind, gentle and lovers of beauty,
harmony and peace. However, in their effort
to keep everyone happy, they find it difficult
to say ‘NO’ to anyone, and as a result, they
end up getting stressed. They have a lot of
positive traits, but some negative ones, too.
Because of its incredible passion and
power, Scorpio is often mistaken for a
fire sign. In fact, Scorpio is a water sign

In the ancient Roman calendar, October
was the name of the eighth month of the
year. Its name comes from octo, the Latin
word for “eight.” When the Romans
converted to a 12-month calendar, they tried
to rename this month after various Roman
emperors, but the name October stuck!
