SIGNATURE EXPERIENCES Go in search of marine life with a whale-watching cruise from Monterey Visit two premium wineries within California's popular wine regions Wander through towering redwood forest to discover the tallest trees on this earth Travel along the scenic 17-Mile Drive with its rugged coastline Day 1: Fly to San Francisco Fly directly from London (regional connections available) to San Francisco. On arrival, transfer to Intercontinental Mark Hopkins (or similar), a beloved landmark and historic property, for a 3-night stay. (N) Day 2: San Francisco Today is dedicated to visiting some of San Golden Gate Bridge and city skyline, San Francisco Francisco’s most famous landmarks. Spend a full day touring the city, with visits to Union Square, Chinatown, Fisherman’s Wharf, Lombard Street, Golden Gate Park and North Beach (Little Italy). Take in a panoramic view of the city and the bay from Twin Peaks (weather and time permitting). (B) Day 3: Sausalito, Muir Woods & San Francisco This morning, visit the island of Alcatraz, variously used as a Civil War fort, a military jail and one of the most notorious federal prisons in US history. Afterwards, travel to the quaint town of Sausalito for lunch (at own expense) and then on to Muir Woods; this National Monument forest is full of towering old-growth redwoods that are unique to this area, and – quenched by marine fog – forms an ecosystem of interesting flora and fauna. Late this afternoon, return to San Francisco to stay overnight. (B) Day 4: Napa & Sonoma Valleys Today, your tour takes you to the worldrenowned wine regions of the Napa and Sonoma Valleys.
