The Aegean region of Turkey is an intriguing blend of Greek and<br />

Turkish history, where ancient civilisations rose and fell across<br />

millennia. What we are left with is a treasure trove of archaeological<br />

sites including Ephesus, Hierapolis and Didyma. For this week-long,<br />

single-centre tour, you will stay in the beautiful village of Sirince.<br />

Day 1: Fly to Izmir<br />

This morning fly from London to Izmir. Transfer to the Nisanyan Evleri<br />

– your hotel for the duration of the tour. (N)<br />

Day 2: Tour of Ephesus<br />

Spend a full day touring Ephesus. Walk the streets of the ancient city,<br />

taking in ruins of the Temple of Artemis and the fabled Library of<br />

Celsus. Virtual reality glasses bring the site to life. (B, D)<br />

Day 3: Wine tasting at the Yedi Bilgeler Winery<br />

Drive to the nearby town of Selcuk for a wine tasting at Yedi Bilgeler,<br />

one of the first such wineries in Turkey. Sample three wines and learn<br />

about the history of viticulture in the region. (B)<br />

Day 4: Aphrodesias, Hierapolis & Pamukkale tour<br />

Enjoy a full-day excursion to Aphrodesias, Hierapolis and Pamukkale –<br />

one of the world’s most striking natural phenomena. Round off the day<br />

back at Hierapolis, with a glass of wine to toast the sunset. (B)<br />

Day 5: Day at leisure<br />

Spend your day at leisure, exploring the village of Sirince. (B)<br />

Day 6: Priene, Miletus & Didyma tour<br />

Embark on a full-day tour of the ancient Greek town of Priene. Next, visit<br />

Miletus, once one of the largest cities in Anatolia. In the afternoon, head<br />

to Didyma’s ruined temples, built to honour Apollo and Artemis. (B)<br />

Day 7: Turkish bath experience<br />

Indulge in a pampering experience at a Turkish bathhouse, including a<br />

soothing soap massage and invigorating body scrub. (B)<br />

Day 8: Fly to London<br />

Transfer to Izmir and fly to London. (B)<br />

Marvel at Marrakech’s palaces, spices and souks before venturing to<br />

some of Morocco’s rural beauty spots. Sample local food and culture<br />

whilst admiring desert-scapes and the soaring Atlas Mountains.<br />

Day 1: Fly to Marrakech<br />

Fly from London (regional connections available) to Marrakech with<br />

British Airways. Stay at Riad dar Sara (or similar) for 6 nights. Tonight<br />

you will have a welcome dinner. (D)<br />

Day 2: Marrakech<br />

Tour Marrakech visiting the 16th-century Saadian Tombs, El Badi Palace<br />

and two smaller palaces: Bahia Palace and Dar Si Said, home to the<br />

Museum of Moroccan Arts. Browse the city's souks and Djemaa el Fna<br />

square as it comes alive with street performers. (B)<br />

Day 3: Atlas Mountains<br />

Gain insight into Berber culture with a visit to the Atlas Mountain<br />

villages of Asni and Imlil. Over mint tea, learn from a local family about<br />

their history and culture. Afterwards, drive to Kasbah Toubkal for lunch<br />

overlooking mountains and villages. Return to Marrakech. (B, L)<br />

Day 4: Marrakech<br />

At leisure. Optional excursion to see the Yves Saint Laurent Museum,<br />

and Majorelle gardens with a private guide for £125 per person. (B)<br />

Day 5: Agafay Desert<br />

Visit the Agafay Desert and have lunch in a secluded camp. Later,<br />

return to Marrakech. (B, L)<br />

Day 6: Fly to London<br />

Fly from Marrakech to London with British Airways. (B)<br />

Extensions: Extend your stay for 2 nights in the beautiful seaside town<br />

of Essaouira at the Heure Bleue Palais for £475 per person.<br />

Visits & entrance fees: The visit order on Day 2 may vary. Entrance<br />

for Saadian Tombs, El Badi Palace, Bahia Palace and Dar Si Said is<br />

included. Entrance fees for all other monuments are payable locally.<br />
