Although this historic region of Italy is best known for Venice, Veneto<br />
has so much more to offer. On this single-centre tour, you will visit<br />
three of Veneto's other worthy cities: Verona, Padua and Vicenza.<br />
Embark on cultural excursions and rural expeditions whilst based for<br />
the week in an 18th-century villa in Castelfranco Veneto.<br />
Day 1: Fly to Verona<br />
Fly to Verona and stay for 7 nights at Hotel Alla Torre in historic<br />
Castelfranco Veneto. (N)<br />
Day 2: Padua & Cantina La Mincana Winery<br />
Spend the day touring Padua, famous for its Renaissance frescos.<br />
Continue to the Cantina La Mincana Winery (or similar) for lunch and<br />
wine tasting before returning to the hotel. (B, L)<br />
Day 3: Isola della Scala & Lake Garda<br />
Transfer to Isola della Scala for a course in risotto. Continue with a<br />
boat trip on beautiful Lake Garda and a guided tour of Sirmione. (B,L)<br />
Day 4: Day at leisure<br />
The day is yours to spend how you wish. Perhaps relax at the hotel or<br />
take an optional excursion to Venice by train. (B)<br />
Day 5: Verona & Vicenza<br />
Enjoy a full-day tour of two of Veneto’s two most beautiful cities. Take<br />
in highlights such as Juliet’s House, Verona Arena and Piazza delle Erbe<br />
in Verona; and Teatro Olimpico and the Villa Rotonda in Vicenza. (B)<br />
Day 6: Prosecco hills & Villa Emo<br />
Take a tour of the rolling Prosecco hills followed by wine tasting and<br />
lunch. In the afternoon, visit the sumptuous Palladian Villa Emo. (B, L)<br />
Day 7: Bassano del Grappa & Asolo<br />
Visit Bassano del Grappa in the Alpine foothills. Tour the city and visit<br />
one of the celebrated grappa distilleries. Continue to the walled city of<br />
Asolo for a tour. (B)<br />
Day 8: Fly to London (B)<br />

Umbria is often overlooked by tourists who favour its better-known<br />
neighbour, Tuscany. Yet this rural region is no less interesting<br />
nor scenic to explore, with its sweeping hills, deep valleys and<br />
characterful, historical settlements. This new Spotlight tour is based<br />
in the Umbrian capital of Perugia, with day tours to the very best the<br />
region has to offer, both historically and culturally.<br />
Day 1: Transfer from Rome to Perugia<br />
Fly to Rome and transfer to Perugia staying 6 nights at Hotel San Gallo<br />

Day 2: Perugia<br />
Enjoy a morning walking tour of Perugia, the capital of Umbria.<br />
Highlights include the ancient walls and Rocca Paolina. After lunch, visit<br />
Casa del Cioccolato and sample some of Italy’s finest chocolate. (B)<br />
Day 3: Full-day tour of Assisi<br />
Embark on a full-day tour of Assisi, including the 13th-century Basilica<br />
di San Francesco, built to house the body of Italy’s patron saint, Francis<br />
of Assisi. Return to Perugia late afternoon. (B)<br />
Day 4: Day at leisure<br />
Today, you are free to enjoy Umbria’s charming capital at leisure. (B)<br />
Day 5: Trasimeno Lake & cookery class<br />
Transfer to beautiful Trasimeno Lake for a lesson in Italian cuisine and<br />
traditional cooking. Your class is followed by a three-course lunch with<br />
wine. In the afternoon, stop in Castiglione del Lago before returning to<br />

Day 6: Bevagna, Spello & Montefalco<br />
Visit three of Umbria’s most historic towns: Bevagna, famous for its<br />
medieval workshops; Spello, with its medieval walls built atop Roman<br />
foundations; and Montefalco, known as 'the balcony of Umbria' for its<br />
