Transfer to the National Hotel, just off Red Square, for 3 nights. Evening walking tour of Red Square. (N) Day 2: Moscow This morning, tour Moscow, including Red Square, St Basil’s Cathedral, GUM state department store, Moscow State University, Novodevichy Convent, the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour and Gorky Park. Finish with a brief visit to some of the city’s grandest metro stations. Your afternoon is at leisure. Enjoy an evening talk on Russian life with the guide. (B) Day 3: Moscow Spend your day at leisure, or take an optional morning visit to Sergiev Posad; built around the Trinity Monastery of St Sergius, it is one of Russia’s most important religious and historical landmarks. There is an optional afternoon tour to either the Tretyakov Gallery or the Museum of Cosmonautics. (B) Day 4: Moscow • St Petersburg Visit the Kremlin this morning, including Cathedral Square and the Armoury Museum, with its collection of imperial treasures and Fabergé eggs. Take a late afternoon train to St Petersburg. On arrival, transfer to the Taleon Imperial Hotel for 4 nights. REGION The Hermitage, St Petersburg You have the afternoon at leisure to visit St Isaac’s Cathedral. Continue to the historic Literaturnoe Cafe for caviar tasting and lateafternoon tea. (B) Day 6: St Petersburg Tour the Hermitage, one of the largest and oldest museums in the world. It houses an unrivalled collection of European and Russian masterpieces. (B) Day 7: Pushkin • St Petersburg Enjoy a morning tour of Catherine Palace at Pushkin, including the extravagant Amber Room (dependent on visitor numbers, this activity may be changed to a tour of Pavlovsk Palace). In the afternoon, visit Peterhof to view the exterior of the Summer Palace with its ornate gardens and cascade fountains. Return to St Petersburg by hydrofoil. Please note that days in St Petersburg may run in a different order due to entrance times. (B) Day 8: Fly to the UK Your morning is at leisure.
