Duplicate Designators
ECAD-MCAD collaboration supports the use of duplicate pad designators in the footprint
library and free pads in the PCB Editor in SOLIDWORKS PCB and Altium Designer.
Integration with SOLIDWORKS PDM
The SOLIDWORKS PDM-based design and data management workflow for electronic
design uses SOLIDWORKS PDM Professional.
You can:
• Create SOLIDWORKS PCB projects and design files using SOLIDWORKS PDM.
• Design file check-in, check-out, and automated versioning of all electronic files through
the SOLIDWORKS PDM File Explorer.
• Create data cards and Where Used items for design files.
• Centralize the storage of electronic design data under the control of the SOLIDWORKS
PDM vault.
• Notify the workflow processes at specific milestones.
• Use a formal release process with electronic approvals and sign offs.
SOLIDWORKS PCB-PDM Connector
The SOLIDWORKS PCB-PDM Connector integrates SOLIDWORKS PCB and SOLIDWORKS
PDM to extend SOLIDWORKS PDM-based design methodology.
The integration lets you:
• Synchronize SOLIDWORKS PCB/PDM variables and parameters.
• Create a SOLIDWORKS PDM-based Bill of Materials.
• Integrate projects and documentation check-in, check-out, and archive.
