SOLIDWORKS Manage

Main User Interface Controls for Records

The Go to Record option lets users of a desktop client navigate between records

efficiently.

Back and Forward buttons let users go back and forth between records.

Object Notes

The Object Notes feature lets administrators provide users with conceptual information

about an object and steps to perform a task. The Object Notes feature is similar to Process

Notes.

Highlights:

• Administrators can add different notes for individual field groups.

• Administrators must enable Object Notes before adding the notes.

• After administrators add information in Object Notes, it appears in every record within

that particular object.

• The data of notes is available in rich text format. Administrators can copy and paste

notes from other applications such as Microsoft ® Word.

• Object Notes are not available for Process and Project objects.

The data of Object Notes is specific to a field group. Adding notes to one field group

does not copy it to another field.

Adding Object Notes

Administrators can add notes from the Administration tool.

To add Object Notes:

1. In the Administration tool, edit an object.

2. To add notes to the SOLIDWORKS PDM objects, go to the Fields wizard page and click

Object Notes.

a) On the Options tab, select Enable Object Notes.

b) Click Save to enable the object notes.

4. In the Field Group dialog box, click the Object Notes tab.

5. Add notes and click Save.

Viewing Object Notes

After Administrators add Object Notes, users can view them from a Field Group.

To view Object Notes:

1. Open a record for which the Administrator has enabled Object Notes and loaded data

into the Field Group.
