A MESSAGE
FROM THE
DEAN
On behalf of our faculty, staff, and students, welcome to the College of Business and
Economics (CBE) at California State University, Los Angeles (Cal State LA)!
A comprehensive public university located in the heart of Los Angeles, Cal State LA
serves as an economic and cultural hub for our community. We offer unique
opportunities for our students to engage with the city's flourishing companies and
thriving communities.
As dean of the CBE, I am extremely proud of the rich tradition of higher learning that
our college has upheld since its founding. Our faculty are accomplished, our staff are
engaged, our students are inspired, and our alumni are acclaimed. Our business
programs are distinguished and prepare our students to become local and global
leaders with the moral depth and intellectual intensity necessary to meet society’s
challenges during a time of critical transition.
The CBE faculty and staff are remarkable people who strive every day to deliver a highquality
educational experience to a diverse student body. Our faculty guide students
through rigorous curricula and publish impactful research that benefits wide-ranging
businesses and communities. Our staff work diligently to support students through their
business education and overall journey to career and life success.
In this report, we celebrate the accomplishments of our students, faculty, and alumni. At
this year’s Healthcare Management Western Regional College Bowl, our students
placed first against other top universities such as UCLA, USC, University of Washington,
and University of Arizona. We also placed first in the Western Casewriters Association
and received the Best Mentored Case Award. In other competitions such as the
International Collegiate Business Strategy Competition and the Financial Management
Quiz Competition, we excelled. The strength of our college and university is a reflection
of our hard-working and dedicated students who become successful alumni.
