Loren Dutton is in Year 13 studying Art, 

English and Performing Arts. She wishes 

to study Fashion Journalism at university 

to then work in the fashion industry, 

working on magazines and living in Paris. 

Josh Sarl is in Year 13 studying History, 

English literature and Geography. Josh is 

a keen musician and a member of a band. 

His aim is to achieve respectable sixth

Welcome to the Autumn issue, I hope you’ve 

had a good summer? I’m honoured Loren, Josh 

and Maddie from The Beaconsfield School are 

gracing my front cover in this ‘Back to School’ 

issue. Please make time to read their beautiful 

words. (p32 - 35). I gave Josh a particularly 

challenging interview in this issue and he has 

written with great compassion and understanding 

on suicide prevention and Hector’s House. 

School open days are back this year, see p30 for 

the listing, and I’m delighted Beaconsfield Town 

Council’s event was a great success (see centre 

pages) If you love Bekonscot Model Village why

Many organisations are looking for volunteers 

at the moment and if you feel you’d like to give

Help is at hand 

at BAC 

Beaconsfield Advisory Centre provides 

information, help and advice on 

benefits, housing, legal, employment 

and other problems. They have specialist 

advisers and contacts to help with debt, 

employment, benefits, housing offices 

and legal issues. 

The BAC was formed in 1965 by a group 

of Christians who felt there was a need for 

a Centre where people could come to seek 

advice. The Centre is there to offer a listening 

ear, give practical and professional advice and 

help with many varying problems. Although 

originally it was only opened three days, now 

the needs and problems have increased in 

the town and the Centre is open every day. 

There are also home visits for those with 

disabilities and cannot travel in. They will 

help to fill in complicated forms, and 

two debt councillors, legal advisor and 

employment advisors who will also help 

with any problems. 

A Transport Scheme has proved invaluable 

to the community and volunteer drivers are 

available to drive clients from the HP9 area to 

various destinations even as far as Oxford for 

medical appointments. 

Members of the Centre are all volunteers 

who undergo an initial training lasting several 

months and then ongoing training. If the 

problem cannot be solved it is almost certain 

that they “will know a person who can!” They 

provide a link between those in need and 

those best able to provide it. 

During the pandemic the BAC phone 

was diverted to Advisors at home. Once 

restrictions were lifted the advisors were able 

to see clients at the Centre by appointment 

and they do hope that very soon will again 

open their doors again. If food parcels are 

needed, they can arrange this.

Waitrose ‘Give 

a Little Love’ 

to Beechview 

Academy 

Waitrose in Beaconsfield’s ‘Give A Little 

Love’ theme last quarter was ‘helping to 

alleviate child poverty’. 

They chose to help Beechview Primary 

Academy, a school in HIgh Wycombe that 

serves a community with high levels of 

deprivation and a large number of children 

with significant challenges. They recognise 

that, in addition to providing education, the 

children need enrichment beyond the normal 

curriculum, and they hope the money will 

help cover costs for those children who would

Earlier this year, The Beaconsfield Society 

launched its Love Beaconsfield Initiative. 

Beaconsfield needs tidying - broken benches, 

graffiti, litter, potholes, cracked pavement 

slabs, overgrown hedges and weeds, Plenty of 

things to fix! The Love Beaconsfield team has 

efficient volunteers taking action to tidy up our 

town. 

Photographs of potholes, broken pavements, 

broken benches etc have been taken and 

passed to various authorities for action. Other 

things needing attention should be reported 

via www.fixmystreet.com. The report will be 

received by Buckinghamshire County Council. 

On Saturday 10th July, there was a Litter- 

Pick Event, supporting the Surfers Against 

Sewage Million Miles Clean. More than 35

absolutely delighted to receive a cheque for

Follow the Holtspur 

Scarecrow Trail! 

Holtspur Scarecrow Trail returned for the 

2nd year this August. 

The village was alive with 26 book inspired 

scarecrows and creations, it was as if the library 

at Holtspur School had magically come to life 

– there were dragons, giraffes, a wizard, a Mad 

Hatter and 101 Dalmatians! 

It was a real community event with entries from 

Beaconsfield Fire Station, St Thomas Church, 

Beaconsfield WI and both the Scouts and 

Brownies. Of course there was an entry from 

Holtspur School who entered The Highway 

Rat, which was created by every Class and 

symbolic of the Highway Man which is the 

school emblem. There was a Hungry “Tiger 

that came to Tea” who also combined as a 

One Can Trust donation point. 

Visitors purchased a map and pencil to find all 

the Scarecrows, then voted for their favourite 

which, for the 2nd year running, went to 

Holtspur Brownies who this year had created 

an extremely magical Alice in Wonderland. The 

residents of Holtspur once again amazed visitors 

with their Scarecrow Creations and the event 

raised over £1000 for Holtspur School PTA. 

Well done to Felicity Dexter for masterminding 

this amazing fundraising event. She said, 

“It’s been really good for the Londis and 

Thirst4Coffee who sell our maps and has 

brought in customers for them. We’ve had 

people from Croydon, Watford, Windsor, 

Wokingham visit! It’s certainly for the local 

community but it’s great to bring a smile to 

so many…..and the more maps we sell the more 

money we raise!”

Volunteering is 

“Good for you” 

After nearly 15 months of Zoom 

meetings, Beavers (boys and girls aged 

6 to 8), Cubs (boys and girls aged 8 to 

10), Scouts (boys and girls aged 10 to 

14) and Explorers (boys and girls aged 

14 to 17) are returning. 

The children and young people have been 

taking part in activities using Zoom and 

earning badges. This means lots of sewing 

for parents and carers! 

Because of the number of children wanting 

to join Scouting, we are looking for some 

more volunteers. Being involved in Scouting 

helps confidence, making friends, learning 

new skills and passing on knowledge to others. 

Many groups are undertaking outside 

activities. These include lots of walks with 

children clocking up miles for the Hikes-Away 

badge. Toasting marshmallows on an open fire 

has also been a popular, (especially when they 

are squashed between two chocolate biscuits!) 

James Palin, Lead volunteer for Buckinghamshire 

Scouts said, “Through lockdown we expected 

and had reduced numbers”. The children are 

now coming back in droves. They are excited 

to see friends and volunteers hitherto seen 

only on Zoom. They are looking forward to 

pioneering, visiting the fire station, pitching tents, 

playing games and a host of other activities.”

Meet the finest pair 

Meet the lovely Kerry and Danny, 

brother and sister and owners of Finest 

Plants. They supply seasonal bedding 

plants, hanging baskets, planters and 

bulbs for the last 6 years every Tuesday 

to Beaconsfield Market. 

Both born in St Albans, Danny in 1991 

and Kerry in 1988, the pair grew up in 

Kings Langley, Hertfordshire. They were 

a close family and from a young age their 

grandparents always had horses and used to 

run carriage driving shows. They have fond 

memories of going to the London Harness 

Horse Parade which was held at Easter, It 

used to be held in Regent’s park and then in 

Battersea park and then unfortunately being 

moved out of London. They also used to 

show at county shows in Windsor and the 

New Forest to name a few. They learnt to 

ride horses from a young age but it’s carriage 

driving that they really loved doing. 

Growing up, they would always help their 

parents or grandparents in the garden. Danny 

first started growing sunflowers when he 

was aged 6 and this sparked a passion for 

horticulture. They got started in business by 

selling concrete garden ornaments initially 

and they would often load up their grandad’s 

van and take themselves off to car boot sales. 

They also started up a gardening service and 

later they decided to look for weekly markets 

selling plants. 

They acquired their first market 11 years ago, 

and sourced an English grower who supplied 

them with seasonal bedding plants. Having 

always planted up their own hanging baskets 

and planters and bulbs, they recently ventured 

out into growing all their own perennials and 

shrubs. 

Kerry and Danny currently have 4 markets 

weekly and a monthly flower market in West 


London. The siblings get on very well, 

they never argue and work well as a team. 

Kerry runs Beaconsfield Market in the main 

and she says that, ‘even though there 

are a few years between us people always 

compliment our smiles and think we are 

more like twins!’ 

They like the flexibility that self-employment 

brings, as well as working outdoors 

especially in the summer months and they 

really enjoy growing and sourcing quality 

plants that their customers can enjoy in their 

gardens. 

A favourite are the hanging baskets which 

are always very popular. Danny says, ‘it 

is always nice to see our fellow traders 

week in week out and it’s good to keep 

supporting each other which keeps the 

market alive and customers a good choice 

of products to buy.’

Bekonscot’ s extended season 

For the 2021 season Bekonscot Model 

Village and Railway will remain open, 7 days 

a week until 12th December. This extended 

season will give visitors the opportunity to 

see Bekonscot illuminated at dusk, which is a 

truly magical sight. 

From the 1st December through to our 

closing date on 12th December the village 

will be transformed into a Winter Wonderland, 

with specially decorated scenes throughout 

the village and a snowflake themed train ride 

to get you in the festive spirit. They will also be 

serving seasonal drinks and snacks to keep you 

warm and will be the usual quizzes and spot the 

Competition Time 

reindeer activities for the children. The village 

will be welcoming Santa back to Bekonscot 

for their final weekend on 11th and 12th 

December. Santa will be in his grotto between 

11.30am and 3pm both days. 

Entry tickets for Winter Wonderland need to be

usual entry prices applicable. Timed tickets to 

visit Santa will be an additional £8 per child

EYE HEALTH 

Still plagued by 

hayfever? 

Lots of people experience hayfever at 

certain times of the year, particularly in 

the later Summer months. 

Symptoms can include itchy, watery and red 

eyes, sneezing, a blocked or runny nose and 

an itchy throat. If you wear contact lenses they 

may be less comfortable and your vision may 

be less sharp . 

Check that any drops you use to alleviate the 

symptoms are contact lens friendly. Using daily 

disposable lenses is the best option as they can 

reduce the transfer of pollen. 

Invest in large or wraparound sunglasses that 

give good eye coverage. Wear your glasses more 

during hayfever season especially if your eyes 

feel irritated or sore. 

If your symptoms don’t improve with the use 

of antihistamines, or if they worsen it’s a good 

idea to get your eyes checked as the symptoms 

of allergies could also indicate other potential 

eye conditions.

So many people I speak to have made

What’s been happening 

at the Beaconsfield 

Town Council? 

Welcome Back Beaconsfield! 

As part of the Buckinghamshire Council’s Open 

Weekend, the Town Council held a ‘Welcome 

Back Beaconsfield’ event on the Town Green. 

There wasn’t much time to put the event 

together, but a working group of councillors 

was formed, headed by Cllr Alex Dunlop, who 

all worked to make it happen, assisted on the 

day by Town Council staff. 

Luckily, the threatened thunder storms didn’t 

materialise and a lovely day was had with lots 

of food stalls, a raffle, a bottle stall, a cake stall 

a steel band, the operatic society, ballerinas, 

singers, classic cars, a bouncy castle. 

Someone put our MP, Joy Morrisey into the 

stocks and she was very game in having wet 

sponges thrown! There was even the chance 

to be immortalised in a piece of art being 

painted by local artist Varvarra Neiman who is 

preparing a painting of the scene to be 

auctioned later in the year for the Mayor, 

Cllr Alastair Pike’s, chosen charities. We 

can’t wait to see the finished painting!

News in Brief 

Face-to-face council 

meeting 

Following the delay to the lifting of 

lockdown, on the 22 July 2021 we 

made history for the Town Council. 

It wasn’t quite the Party in the Park, but we 

did have the Town Council on the Green! 

Our dispensation to hold meetings remotely 

has been removed and so the council are 

obliged to meet face to face... yet the Covid 

regulations said we couldn’t. After studying 

the forecast, it was decided to hold the 

full council meeting on the Town Green. 

Although the acoustics left something to 

be desired, it was a balmy evening in a 

beautiful setting. 

Benches 

As part of our on-going bench replacement 

program, the next ones to be replaced will 

be the two at the front of the Town Green, 

either side of the beech tree, facing the road. 

As discussed in the Open Spaces Committee, 

the very attractive cast iron benches with the 

lions head ends and wooden slats will not be 

wholly replaced in the same way. What we 

will do is replace the slats with the same 

material that our Forest-Saver benches are 

made of. This will reduce maintenance load, 

reduce vulnerability to vandalism and is a 

wholly recycled material so is good for the 

environment too. 

Bunds and 

encroachment 

protection at 

Malthouse Square 

Having weighed up the options, we have 

decided to remove the bunds and replace 

them with bollards, similar to the ones at the 

entrance. We hope to also seed the area, 

which might mean we need to keep people 

off that piece of ground for a while to enable 

the seed to establish. We will make a plan 

for this after the new playground has been 

installed.

Innovation Station at 

Thorpe House School 

Excitement is mounting for our summer 

projects at Thorpe House Lower School, 

which will enhance our boys’ learning 

experiences both indoors and out. 

Our impressive Griffin Castle will ensure climbing 

and role play fun. Complete with drawbridge, 

battlements and a central chamber, the boys 

can pretend play as knights in shining armour. 

Look closely and the edifice transforms into a 

pirate ship, with rigging, climbing ropes and 

look-out towers! Imagination, communication, 

negotiation and fun will enrich playtimes. 

Physical development and coordination will 

be addressed in the myriad play areas within 

the structure, as boys negotiate space, climb, 

balance and work together to build stories, 

characters, adventures and memories. 

Our beautiful new outdoor wooden classroom 

is further up the lawn and will promote our love of

the newly tarmacked courtyard, complete with 

marble central meeting space, you enter the 

main building and can visit our stunning new 

STEAM Classroom; a making space where our 

exciting new STEAM Curriculum will be explored 

by the boys. 

Inspired by the woven pattern of New Zealand’s 

iconic ‘Te Whariki’, the holistic STEAM Curriculum 

will work to empower every boy to grow, learn 

and be courageous in his learning pursuits.

THE ISSUE 5 YOUNG JOURNALIST 

Lotte Stringer and her 

compassionate thoughts 

on suicide prevention 

When presented with an opportunity 

to interview Lotte Stringer, CEO of the 

charity, Hector’s House (which raises 

awareness and educates the public on 

suicide and mental health), I threw myself 

at the chance to gain insight into such an 

important topic. 

THE YOUNG 

Moreover, I am also humbled and thankful that 

my editor has offered me the task of writing down 

my thoughts on said interview - to which I will 

try my utmost best to portray my thoughts and 

newfound knowledge succinctly and with grace, 

as to apply the necessary gravity and sensitivity to 

the topic in general. For the purpose of authenticity 

and openness of this article (which is important to 

uphold), I feel as though I should share my initial 

thoughts, when first posed with such a matter. 

Nervous! Which is completely normal and nothing 

to be ashamed of when we consider the scale of 

this discussion; suicide is something that people 

often wish to talk around - a taboo topic if you will. 

Yet, often the hardest discussions are the most 

necessary to have; however I implore all readers 

who, like I was, not well reversed in the tragic 

nature of suicide, to read, inquire and talk to 

people who can expand your mind. I have linked

the Hector’s House website at the bottom of 

this page, and I urge you all to read the articles 

provided! Therefore, with my fairly rudimentary 

prior knowledge on the mentality behind mental 

health and suicide - I was ready to go into this 

interview with eagerness to learn and to progress. 

My prior knowledge going into the interview was 

that of Lotte’s own experience, with her brother, 

Hector, having lost his life to suicide in 2011, just 

at the age of 18. Lotte and her family set up the 

Hector’s House charity in the wake of Hector’s 

death; which, in my own opinion, represents the 

epitome of human compassion, bravery and 

warmth. Firstly, I was instantly taken aback by 

Lotte’s beaming energy when I first met her. My 

initial, arbitrary, assumption was that the discussion 

would be a difficult and downcast one - yet Lotte’s 

intriguing enthusiasm instantly resonated in me. 

Lotte also repeated phrases, such as ‘suicide is 

preventable’ and ‘you are worth more than you 

think’- which further increased the sense of 

hopefulness in the discussion. I realised in our 

chat, and thinking about it afterwards, that her 

upbeat approach to education and encouragement

regarding the running programme, joining in with 

the London 10k every year, the ‘Library of Calm’ 

initiative, the Wellness Wednesday Zoom calls 

and also the 24/7 texting service (operated under 

the SHOUT organisation- number at bottom). 

This texting service is not only for those who are 

deemed to be in a critical state- but is a service 

that can be used in any situation; if you’ve had 

a bad week, day, or even just a bad hour! I 

recommend that you check out these initiatives, 

which are offered to anyone and everyone.

had actually, not only made me feel generally 

reassured and happier in myself, but also put 

into perspective this ideal and motive behind 

suicide awareness, support and the love that the 

Hector’s House charity work encapsulates perfectly, 

to which I will go into further details shortly. 

Lotte’s bounding enthusiasm also shined 

through when I asked about Hector’s life and 

personality. Lotte described her brother in high 

regard to his tremendous humour and talents 

as a guitarist- playing in a promising band - 

up and coming on the Camden scene. Lotte’s 

descriptions of Hector’s stamp on this world, 

steeping in intimacy and pride, shows just how 

she is not afraid of talking about her brother, or 

the saddening nature of his death - which has had 

a lasting effect on my approach to talking about 

suicide now. Lotte has inspired me to take these 

matters with an open mind, and to consider 

emotions of myself and others in every aspect of 

life. She has inspired bravery and compassion. 

I then inquired about the schemes within the 

Hector’s House charity - Lotte went into detail

Staycation - the 

new vacation 

After the chalIenging year we’ve just gone 

through, we can agree on two things. 

First, a holiday is very much needed and the 

financial affects of Coronavirus will take years 

to overcome. What better way, therefore, 

of investing in our economy, than to book 

a staycation! I know the stresses that are part 

of holiday-packing, booking and catching 

flights and leaving the country safely! This 

undermines the total enjoyment of going 

abroad (not to mention costs associated with 

testing). By swapping a vacation in another 

country for a staycation here this is what many 

people have opted for this year. 

Not only are staycations more affordable, 

you get the same excitement of going abroad 

for less. Cutting down on the emissions by 

choosing a car journey to somewhere else in 

the UK against a flight to another country, is 

without a doubt better for the environment. 

These claims are supported by a BBC article 

written in August 2019 questioning and 

comparing methods of travel, taking into 

consideration climate change. It suggests 

a car with 4 passengers releases 43g of 

emissions per passenger per km travelled, 

whereas a domestic flight releases 133g of 

CO2 emissions and an additional 121g of 

secondary effects per passenger per km 

travelled (The figures for long haul flights 

come in slightly lower). (www.bbc.co.uk/

Being a tourist in your own country, and 

buying a meal in a restaurant or visiting a 

local pub invests money into our economy, 

which can result potentially in a faster 

financial recovery from the implications 

of Coronavirus. Referring to statistics 

from www.nao.org.uk/covid-19/cost-tracker/ 

an estimated £372 billion has been spent in 

response to the pandemic over 13 months 

from February 2020 to March 2021. 

This is all without mentioning the obvious 

bonus of avoiding the mandatory two-week 

isolation period following your return from 

holiday! I recommend the South-West coast, 

particularly the counties of Devon, Cornwall, 

and Somerset, all of which are surrounded by 

beautiful beaches and stunning scenery, and 

two of which my family and I visited at the start 

of the school holiday. 

Hinton St. George’s, Croftview, is a gorgeous 

holiday house with 13 en-suite bedrooms, 

catering for up to 30 people. Located on a 

private estate and whilst rather expensive, I 

couldn’t recommend it more. It’s the perfect 

place to stay for a big birthday with extended 

family, which is exactly what we were. Our 

week there was a delight and the lovely 

sunny weather made our stay so much more 

enjoyable. 

For smaller budgets there are many other 

options such as using budget hotels, airbnb, 

youth hosteling or perhaps 

wild camping in places such 

as Dartmoor or Scotland 

where wild camping is actively 

encouraged! If you plan and 

book early you can get good 

discounts on train travel as 

well as accommodation.

Re-wear, reuse, 

recycle 

As the result of the pandemic many 

clothes retailers had to shut their doors 

and their reopening date is uncertain. 

A more imaginative approach to fashion 

needs to be adopted: ‘re-wearing, reusing 

and recycling’ our clothing is worth 

investigating. 

We need to adopt a mindset of longevity 

when it comes to our wardrobes. Restyling 

old clothing in a new and exciting way is my 

personal favourite, especially when I find 

second-hand ‘vintage’ items. For example 

I found a man’s large leather jacket which I 

restyled with miniskirts and colourful t-shirts 

to introduce some femininity. This helps 

encourage an end to the overconsumption 

of clothing which has a detrimental effect on 

the environment. 

The fashion industry is the second largest 

polluter in the world (behind the oil and 

energy industry) and instead of consuming 

more new clothing consider rummaging 

through charity shops and using online 

platforms like depop to find unique items 

that can find a new home and be upcycled 

by you. Only 15% of clothing is upcycled, 

or donated, according to The Atlantic 

magazine. 

Upcycling clothing has been around since 

the eighteenth century when wool shortages 

were frequent, but with a modern twist 

upcycling techniques can be used today. 

Upcycling is taking old or damaged 

materials and transforming them into 

‘brand new’ items. A couple of years ago, I 

experimented with upcycling in my textiles 

class and I created a tote bag out of old 

denim jeans - a really rewarding project. 

Although you may think that upcycling 

requires skills like sewing, there are many 

ways you can alter clothing like cutting, 

painting and braiding. Together we can 

use fashion to restore the economy and 

the environment.

refined menu showcases a pan-Asian fusion 

of eastern cuisines. Flavours from Malaysia, 

China, Japan and the Philippines coalesce to 

create a mouth-watering selection of dishes, all 

formulated by experienced head chef, Oliver 

Pacquing. The dining experience is based 

on the age-old concept of “small plates”, 

allowing you to select a variety of dishes 

from different regions, to savour a range of 

elevated traditional delicacies. 

Menu Highlights: 

Cocktails: 

To quench our thirst, we savoured a few of the 

signature cocktails. The highlight was the 

refreshing “Lychee Sling”, which was a sublime 

blend of tangy tropical flavours, with a fresh burst 

of lychees. The drink also complimented the 

food, and was a great palate cleanser in between 

dishes. 

Duck Bao Buns: 

The duck bao buns were a definite highlight! The 

light and fluffy buns complemented the crispy 

duck, which was cooked to perfection! The sauce 

elevated all of the components with its rich glaze, 

and there was an abundance of texture with each 

bite. This is a must try and was faultless - take a 

bao chef Oliver! 

Crispy Coconut Prawns: 

Another highlight of the meal were the crispy 

coconut prawns served with an elegant sweet chilli 

dip. The prawns were fresh, succulent and lightly 

battered; with the crunch of panko breadcrumb 

piercing your taste buds as the subtle notes of 

sweet chilli simmered in the background. The dish 

reminded me of miniature tempura prawns and is 

highly recommended for seafood lovers!

Waitrose Beaconsfield gets an eco-makeover

multi-million pound refurbishment at

London Marathon 

challenge for Mental 

Health Foundation 

There are many parallels between 

training for a marathon and conditioning 

our mental health. 

That’s what Chris Smith at Walter & Partners learnt 

following injury, then illness in his training for the 

London Marathon. “Marathon training isn’t easy. 

It requires hard work and dedication. But almost 

anyone can do it if they put the time in and 

persevere.” 

We see this every year when people of all ages, 

shapes, and abilities take part. The human body is 

capable of great things, as are our minds. But both 

body and mind need to be conditioned for the 

challenges ahead of us, and the support we receive 

from those around us can make all the difference. 

Ben Walter comments, “We wanted this challenge 

to help raise awareness of the need to look after 

our mental health and support the vital work of the 

charity.”

Family law myths 

We often get asked about family law myths so here 

are two of the more common ones. 

We’re not married but I am a common law spouse 

Let’s be clear – there is no such thing! 

Put simply, when a relationship of two people who 

were not married or in a civil partnership breaks 

down, the Courts’ powers are limited. Separated 

partners can ask the Courts to deal with ownership 

and sale of property on principles of Trust and 

Property Law. They can potentially seek financial 

support from their ex-partner for the benefit of their 

children and can apply for Child Arrangements and 

other Court Orders under the Children Act 1989. 

Unfortunately this is largely the extent of it. The Courts 

are not concerned with fairness, the overall picture or 

maintenance for the benefit of one or other partner. 

However, the good news is that a proposed 

Cohabitation Rights Bill, has started its journey 

through Parliament, receiving its first reading in 

2020. But there is still a long way to go before 

the draft Bill makes its way into law! 

Pre-nuptial agreements - not worth the paper 

they are written on! 

This is no longer true! While there is no UK 

legislation dealing with pre-nuptial agreements, 

there is supportive case law. 

LEGAL NEWS 

Currently English law states that pre-nuptial agreements 

are not automatically binding. However, if properly 

prepared, they may well be upheld. So what does 

‘properly prepared’ mean? The key criteria:- 

1. The agreement must be freely entered into (each 

party taking independent legal advice) 

2. The couple must understand the implications of the 

agreement (which means full financial disclosure, 

providing clarity on future claims either may be giving 

up) 

3. It must not be unfair to uphold the parties to their 

agreement in the circumstances at the time of the 

divorce. Pre-nuptial agreements are more likely to 

be upheld in short marriages - the agreement is less 

likely to become out of date or be superseded by 

unforeseen events during the marriage. 

So, if considering a pre-nuptial do seek 

independent legal advice and make sure 

the agreement is done properly for your 

best chance of it being upheld.

Meet Amina

The last 18 months or so have clearly 

highlighted that staying at home is the 

safest and most preferable option for 

everyone. 

With age some daily tasks can become 

challenging but this is where a carer like 

Amina can be the perfect answer. Amina

so we didn’t miss her 

regular salon outings 

and living with her I 

am quickly able to identify problems. The first 

wheelchair she had didn’t fit her properly so it 

took me a long time to deal with occupational 

health and ensure we got one correctly fitted 

to make sure she is comfortable.”

Safe & gentle ear wax removal at a clinic near you 

Ear wax removal should always be conducted by a qualified

counter solutions to manually syringe your ears or using hopi
