Responsibilities:
Co-ordination and Monitoring Activities
Currently working as Site Manager for Hyundai Electric, Kuwait.
Handling site activities and allocation of jobs to Sub Contractor teams for successive
completion of project.
Monitoring the progress at regular intervals and reporting to Project Manager with
required documents.
Coordination with Client KIPIC and PMC personnel for any issues related to site and
working towards a solution to ensure progress of site works.
Worked in MINISTRY OF ELECTRICITY AND WATER (MEW) of KUWAIT as
consultant for client in substation commissioning works.
Checking the drawings submitted by approved contractors for substation and marking
out any modifications.
Interviewing the testing engineers of the contractor and approval of the same.
Evaluating the performance of the commissioning team at site.
Checking the material provided by contractor at site to ensure that they conform to the
MEW specifications.
Monitoring the progress at site and ensuring that the works are progressing on schedule.
Supervising the erection of switchgear, control panels, relay panels, transformers and Tap
changer panels.
Checking the laying of cables and cable supports and confirming that they adhere to the
approved cable route drawings.
Organizing Co-ordination meetings between various parties involved in substation
energizing such as the Underground cable, Overhead Transmission Line, SCADA,
Control Centers, Protection and switchgear departments and their respective contractors.
Providing training and holding seminars for new engineers enrolled in MEW.
Testing and Commissioning Activities
Testing of Gas Insulated switchgear (GIS) of various voltage levels from 33kV up to 400kV
of various manufacturers such as Siemens, Hyundai, ABB, etc.
Commissioning of switchgear related equipment such as CTs, VTs, CBs and isolating and
earthing switches of various manufacturers.
Checking the operation and switching of the switchgear components.
Checking the interlocking schemes and maintaining safe operation of switchgear.
Carrying out quality checks on SF6 gas in the GIS.
Supervision of High Voltage test of various switchgear.
Operation, testing and commissioning of power transformers up to 750MVA.
Testing of Oil filled transformers and related components.
Testing of numerical and electromechanical relays of various protection types.
Worked with Distance relays of ABB, Siemens and Toshiba such as REL 670, 7SA522 and

Checking of various protection tripping schemes related to Busbar, transformers,

Key Projects Handled:
Working in Project Al Zour Liquified Natural Gas Import (LNGI) for KIPIC, Kuwait.
Successfully Commissioned and energized 132/33kV Substation LNGI “A”.
Managing the General Checking activities for Hyundai 400kV Substations in coordination
with PSMD (MEW), Kuwait.
Worked in testing and energizing of various substations all over Kuwait ranging from
400kV to 11kV voltage levels.
Successfully commissioned and energized, for the first time in Kuwait, 400/300/33kV
substations. Led a team of testing engineers and technicians along with main Contractor
ABB to complete on time the energizing of 2 nos. 400kV substations, Sulaibiya ‘Z’ and
Jabriya ‘Z’.
Worked with Kuwait Oil Company (KOC), the world’s fourth largest oil exporter, to
energize two 132/11kV substations, Burgan ‘C’ and Ahmedi ‘E’. Successfully completed
the project under immense pressure and unfavorable conditions to provide electricity to
upcoming gathering centers in Kuwait.
Worked in Shuaiba Port, controlled by Port Authority of Kuwait to commission two nos.
132/11kV substations.
Carried out bay extension works for 300kV and 132kV substations.
Completed successfully High Voltage and Partial Discharge tests for extension bays in
short duration in order to avoid power shutdown in key substations in Kuwait.
