task analysis<br />
A procedure whereby a complex task is<br />
broken down and described <strong>in</strong> terms of the<br />
specific steps needed to complete it.<br />

time chart<br />
A method of collect<strong>in</strong>g data where an<br />
occurrence of a particular behavior is noted<br />
dur<strong>in</strong>g briefer (e.g., 30 m<strong>in</strong>utes) <strong>in</strong>tervals of<br />
each day. A data sheet with cells for each<br />
time periods dur<strong>in</strong>g the day as rows and<br />
days of the week as columns is used.<br />

token economy<br />
A system of promot<strong>in</strong>g desirable behavior<br />
where the <strong>in</strong>dividual is provided with<br />
conditioned re<strong>in</strong>forcers (e.g., small pieces<br />
of cardboard with Velcro back<strong>in</strong>g) for short<br />
<strong>in</strong>tervals (2 hours) where desired behaviors<br />
and no challeng<strong>in</strong>g behaviors occur. After<br />
collect<strong>in</strong>g several conditioned re<strong>in</strong>forcers,<br />
they are then exchanged for backup or more<br />
substantial re<strong>in</strong>forcers.<br />
