Our English department’s focus on read<strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong> historical periods—no<br />

As with many PWR programs <strong>in</strong> English departments that “have begun recogniz<strong>in</strong>g<br />

the power of a more eclectic writ<strong>in</strong>g program,” our challenge is to<br />

make coherent course offer<strong>in</strong>gs that are united mostly by what they are not:<br />

literature. The net is cast very wide, from creative writ<strong>in</strong>g to “technical <strong>and</strong><br />
