10.2.4 The verbal derivational suffix -dall<br />

In addition to the diminutive meaning in (44) above, the first two examples<br />

(55–56) <strong>of</strong> the verbalizer -dall (glossed as vblz3) show deadjectival verbs which<br />

express being characterized by the base adjective. The adjectival base is even semantically<br />

restricted in the derived form in example (56). Similarly, the denominal<br />

verb in (57) is based on the 3sg.nom reflexive pronoun etjas ‘onesel’, and<br />

expresses a more forceful state <strong>of</strong> being the meaning <strong>of</strong> the base noun. The final<br />

two examples also restrict the semantic scope <strong>of</strong> the verbal base. The a following<br />

the -dall suffix is the verb class marker for the resulting Class IIa verb.<br />
