within the context <strong>of</strong> the ancient<br />
Near East.<br />
The Pauline Epistles<br />
3 credits. This course examines<br />
the New Testament letters attributed<br />
to Paul in their historical<br />
context, with attention to both<br />
theological themes and specific<br />
key texts; the radical and transformative<br />
claims <strong>of</strong> Paul’s gospel;<br />
Paul’s spirituality, theology, and<br />
ethics; the relevance <strong>of</strong> Paul and<br />
his heirs for today’s Church.<br />

principles contained in the<br />
Vatican Council II’s Dogmatic<br />
Constitution on Divine<br />
Revelation (Dei Verbum), this<br />
introductory course introduces<br />
students to the exegetical method<br />
and tools commonly used by<br />
interpreters <strong>of</strong> Sacred Scripture.<br />
Gospels <strong>of</strong> Mark & Matthew<br />
3 credits. Utilizing the common<br />
methods <strong>of</strong> Gospel study, the<br />
course assists students to uncover<br />
the portrait <strong>of</strong> Jesus that each <strong>of</strong><br />
these two Gospels portray in<br />
terms <strong>of</strong> its particular retelling <strong>of</strong><br />
Jesus’ life, teaching, passion,<br />
