Admission <strong>of</strong><br />

Resident Seminarians<br />

Prerequisites<br />

Seminarians enrolling in the theology program<br />

must meet the following requirements:<br />

1. A bachelor’s degree from an accredited<br />

college or university;<br />

2. A minimum <strong>of</strong> 30 earned semester credits<br />

in philosophy and 12 in undergraduate<br />

theology or religious studies in prescribed<br />

fields <strong>of</strong> study;<br />

3. Prerequisite familiarity with the western<br />

intellectual tradition in history, arts and<br />

literature, communications, and<br />

rhetoric, as obtained through appropriate<br />

coursework in these areas.<br />

Admission Requirements<br />

The applicant must schedule an admissions<br />

interview, and should have the following<br />

materials sent to the Vice Rector’s Office at<br />

the address below as soon as possible:<br />

1. Official original transcripts from all<br />

high schools, colleges, universities, and<br />

theologates attended;<br />

2. Application form and fee;<br />

3. Official letter <strong>of</strong> recommendation from<br />

sponsoring diocese or religious community;<br />

4. Students transferring from other seminaries<br />

or formation programs must submit<br />

their most recent evaluations from<br />

those institutions;<br />

5. Baptism and confirmation certificates;<br />

6. Statement on the priesthood;<br />

7. Evaluations and recommendations from<br />

previous seminaries or houses <strong>of</strong> formation;<br />

8. Autobiography;<br />

9. Job or ministerial performance review<br />

from current or most recent employer;<br />

10. Physical exam report, including tuberculosis<br />

and HIV test results;<br />

11. Copy <strong>of</strong> current visa and passport if<br />

non-US citizen and address in country <strong>of</strong><br />

citizenship;<br />

12. Copy <strong>of</strong> latest TOEFL iBT scores and<br />

reports,: (minimum required score <strong>of</strong><br />

91) taken within the past year, if nonnative<br />

speaker <strong>of</strong> English;<br />

13. Federal and state criminal background<br />

checks;<br />

14. Psychological report;<br />

15. Two recent photos.<br />

An Admissions Committee reviews applications<br />

<strong>of</strong> prospective resident seminarians and<br />

makes its recommendations to the President<br />

Rector who sends notice regarding acceptance<br />

both to the applicant and to his sponsoring<br />
