Paul Mclean<br />
General Manager, NSW Aviso EIA Insurance Brokers<br />
Paul is an Insurance professional having worked in the Industry for over 20 years. He was a Technical and<br />
Production Underwriter for a number of years and he excelled at leading teams to achieve the best possible<br />
outcomes for his broker customers. Paul’s Insurance focus was placing both commercial and multi-national<br />
programs, and he had a leading role in managing risk, working with both QBE and Allianz. He progressed into<br />
management positions including Sales & Distribution Manager, National Product Manager - Motor Trades,<br />
and National Relationship Manager which afforded him to work across multiple states. With Paul’s leadership<br />
experience and vast industry knowledge, he recently transitioned to Aviso EIA Insurance Brokers where he looks<br />
after all of its NSW Operations and assists with running the broader multi-state broking business. Paul has two<br />
beautiful children with his lovely wife and is a keen fisherman, when he can find the time.<br />

1. Who is someone you admire,<br />
and why?<br />
Richard Branson – I admire him<br />
because of his courage and what<br />
he has been able to achieve<br />
throughout his lifetime. Some<br />
serious entrepreneurship coupled<br />
with a rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle, pretty<br />
impressive. He once was a young<br />
boy who dreamed of going to<br />
space. Richard Branson quote<br />
– “You don’t learn to walk from<br />
following the rules. You learn by<br />
doing, and by falling over.”<br />
2. Tell me three pet peeves.<br />
• Dog owners who don’t pick<br />
up after their dogs<br />
• Litter bugs<br />
• People who say they’re too<br />
busy.<br />
3. What’s a typical day like for<br />
you?<br />
Both my kids are very, very<br />
early risers so I’m awake at<br />
sunrise hanging out with them.<br />
Breakfast, make a coffee with<br />
my new coffee machine then<br />
off to work. I try and get out at<br />
lunchtime for some exercise,<br />
then I’m back to the grind until<br />
early evening. From that point<br />
onwards, it’s all about the kids,<br />
dinner, play, bath, story, kids to<br />
bed, then it’s Netflix time!<br />
4. What’s your favourite movie<br />
and why?<br />
The “Usual Suspects” due to<br />
the mystery surrounding the<br />
mastermind and the big reveal<br />
at the end. There is also plenty of<br />
action along the way.<br />
5. If you could be anywhere<br />
other than here, right this<br />
minute, where would you be?<br />
Travelling through South America.<br />
6. Flashback to when you were<br />
10 years old. What do you want to<br />
be when you grew up?<br />
An Olympian.<br />
