warm welcome to you
all as we prepare for
a big night under the
lights here at Ashton
Gate. It’s an occasion
I am very much
looking forward to and I know it will be a cracking
atmosphere.
Tuesday night but, backed by a sold-out away end
of 2,178 supporters, we were able to secure those
long-awaited three points. We took a two-goal lead
and conceded another avoidable goal, as well as
another late one, to make it a more nerve-racking
experience. We saw the game out and got the
rewards for a totally committed performance and
that’s pivotal for the players.
Tonight we remember
those who are sadly
no longer with us.
We have lost many
supporters, young
and old, during
the coronavirus
pandemic and they are
remembered here at
Ashton Gate. Names
and photos of our
loved ones will be
displayed on the big
screens, on the LED
boards and as many
as we could inside
the digital matchday
programme too.
Our hearts go out to everyone and our thoughts
remain with the friends and families who have
suffered such tragic losses.
We welcome Russell Martin, his players, staff and
all Swansea City supporters to Ashton Gate for
this Sky Bet Championship fixture. I know they will
be setting out to put their early disappointing run
of form to an end so I expect it to be a challenging
affair.
Similarly, we were still searching for our first win
of the season when we travelled to Reading on

At 3-2 I’m sure you were
probably thinking ‘here
we go again’ and there
was certainly some of
that anxiety shared on
the touchline. However,
that was a really good
win for us and it was
important that we
looked back over what
we did well and what we
didn't do well – that’s
something we do with
all results.
A special mention goes
to Cameron Pring, who
had a superb game
on his Championship
debut. He has not felt part of this club for a long
time but he has done so well to put himself into
contention. He received a wonderful round of
applause in the dressing room after the game and
that is testament to what he did on the night.
Tonight is a chance to build on that performance
and result, so please help us make it an enjoyable
night and I hope you enjoy the game.
