King’s debut came at
home in the 1-1 draw with
Blackpool on the opening
day of the season, before
he headed in his first
goal for the club away
at Middlesbrough – a
poignant moment for a
man with City at his heart.
“I’ve followed the club
for many years. I used
to watch games with my
dad, my uncle and my
brother so I’ve always kept
an eye on the club and
therefore the goal was an
unbelievable feeling.
“Now I’d love to score at
home in front of the fans
and celebrate in front of
the Dolman Stand where I
used to sit myself. That will
be nice.
“If I can just keep
contributing however I can,
through goals and assists,
that’s great but it’s about us
as a team getting as many
wins as possible.”
City now head into Friday
night’s game off the back
of their first win of the
season at Reading. For
King, this could be his first
taste of football under
the Ashton Gate lights
and it’s a moment he is
looking forward to both
professionally and as a fan.
“I always want to win as
a professional footballer
but there’s the emotional
attachment too because
I go through it all as a
supporter. It’s hard but it
makes the good times even
better!
“Watching City games as
a kid I would think: ‘Could
I score for this team one
day?’ Now I just want to
score at home but having
played at Ashton Gate
