<strong>TU</strong> <strong>Dublin</strong> Broombridge<br />
2021<br />
Vision<br />
The Design + Construct vision is to provide a centre of national and<br />
international significance to serve the Architecture, Engineering<br />
and Construction (AEC) sector and other aligned sectors.<br />
Philanthropy is playing a major role in realising and delivering the<br />
Design + Construct Centre. We are profoundly grateful to our<br />
corporate partners for their commitment to educating the future<br />
leaders of the sector.<br />
Context<br />
The centre will play a pivotal role in delivering on Project<br />
Ireland 2040 and the Regional Development Plan in supporting<br />
sustainable development and the well-being and health<br />
of communities, together with the key priority areas of<br />
apprenticeship, digitalisation, productivity and innovation. It will<br />
also align with the objectives of UN Sustainable Development<br />
Goals (SDGs) and the Climate Action Plan 2019, with targets<br />
in Built Environment for new builds and renovation, sustainable<br />
energy and infrastructure development.<br />
Purpose<br />
Design + Construct brings talent and technology together<br />
to drive innovation and performance in the AEC and aligned<br />
sectors. Through inter and multi-disciplinary and collaborative<br />
engagement with academic, industry and enterprise experts,<br />
Design + Construct will develop new areas of growth and<br />
integrated educational opportunities to support the design<br />
and development of a more sustainable and smarter built<br />
environment. Optimising cross-sectoral synergies with business,<br />
science, and digital technology, future-focused educational<br />
offerings will include digital, industrialised and autonomous<br />
construction, integrated energy systems, whole life building<br />
performance, integrated supply chain management, smart cities,<br />
and sustainable development.<br />

Located on the 3.25-hectare site at <strong>TU</strong> <strong>Dublin</strong> Broombridge, the<br />
existing warehouse will be repurposed as the Design + Construct<br />
Centre and will offer 5,490m 2 of high tech, flexible and adaptable<br />
workshop and studio spaces. It will deliver collaborative<br />
multi-disciplinary learning for students across all levels from<br />
apprenticeship to doctoral research as well as providing<br />
education and research facilities critical to the next generation<br />
of construction graduates. <strong>TU</strong> <strong>Dublin</strong> is proud to be partnering<br />
with leaders in the Construction and Built Environment Sector<br />
to deliver a Design + Construct Centre which will tackle some<br />
of the most pressing challenges facing the sector and society<br />
more broadly.<br />
