Award winning Scottish singer songwriter Dean Owens is one 

of UK’s finest troubadours, with fans including authors Irvine 

Welsh and Ian Rankin, and BBC legend “Whispering” Bob 

Harris. Hard to pin down to a particular genre, his music is a 

unique blend of Scottish roots and Americana – the 

unfettered enthusiasm of a rock n roller coupled with the 

sympathetic delivery of folk’s best storytellers.

8 SEPTEMBER 

TEENAGE FANCLUB :: At Forum, London. Scottish 

alternative rock band Teenage Fanclub have shared a 

preview of their highly-anticipated album with a new song 

and video. “In Our Dreams”, written by the band's Raymond 

McGinley, is the fifth single off Endless Arcade (now out). 

The song evokes an exploratory voyage inward and reflects 

the melancholic yet uplifting themes present throughout the 

rest of the record. The video was shot at Motherwell Concert 

Hall by long-time collaborator Donald Milne. McGinley had 

this to say about the new song: “To rephrase an aphorism 

most famously used by John Lennon, existence is what 

happens while the human race is busy making other plans. 

This song is kinda about that, but like all our songs, we write 

them intuitively and only think about what to say about 

them afterwards.” Even if we weren’t living through 

extraordinarily troubling times, there is nothing quite like a 

Teenage Fanclub album to assuage the mind, body and soul, 

and to reaffirm that all is not lost in this world.

BOW ANDERSON :: At Courtyard Theatre, London. 

Edinburgh's Bow Anderson has unveiled her beautiful new 

single, ‘Hate That I Fell In Love With You’, which is available 

now. This is the fast-rising Scottish pop star’s first new 

music since debut EP ‘New Wave’ - and breakout single 

‘Sweater’ - which picked up early support across Radio 1 and 

Apple Music 1, saw Bow named one of Vevo's Ones to 

Watch, went top 20 on Spotify's Viral Charts and led to 

Anderson’s first TV appearances on the likes of Children In 

Need. Bow has also announced shows at Edinburgh’s Sneaky 

Pete’s on 22nd September and London’s Courtyard on 7th 

October. Listen to ‘Hate That I Fell In Love With You’. ‘Hate 

That I Fell In Love With You’ is a haunting ballad as indebted 

to the raw soul tradition Bow was raised on as it is the 

sparse, stripped-back world of early Adele. An emotive 

portrait of what it’s like to fall out of love with someone (“a 

pretty shit situation, isn’t it?” Bow says with a wry smile), 

the accompanying video “is set in a house throughout the 

rooms where we shared those memories. Seeing the good 

times contrasted with the more delicate moments really 

highlights the heartbreak. It made me cry the first time I 

watched it because it honestly replicates what I went 

through, and I hope it is relatable to others in a similar 

experience.”

THE NINTH WAVE :: At Omeara, London. Glasgow based 

band 'The Ninth Wave' have release a new single and video 

called "Maybe You Didn't Know". The new single follows The 

Ninth Wave's Faris Badwan (The Horrors)-produced EP 

‘Happy Days!’ and their AIM Award and Scottish Album of 

the Year-nominated debut album Infancy. It also arrives as 

the band prepares to embark on a full UK tour this Autumn, 

including two hometown shows at Glasgow’s Oran Mor. The

with Adam Holmes! The Edinburgh born singer-songwriter is 

one of the brightest stars on the UK roots music scene. An 

old soul on young shoulders, he combines masterful

mixing traditional and contemporary folk with his own brand

SHAMANIC :: 'Online for Edinburgh Festivals'. The truly

Shrine :: 'On-demand for Edinburgh Festivals' from 16-30 

August. A second chance to see this unique, Celtic 

Connections highlight, specially created for Celtic 

Connections 2021, over a 5,000 mile distance, from 

Edinburgh to Idaho to Berlin. Award winning Scottish singersongwriter 

Dean Owens with Calexico’s Joey Burns and 

Martin Wenk - a tantalising taster of Dean’s upcoming 

Sinner’s Shrine album. Festival director Donald Shaw 

described it as "a hands across the water meeting of great 

songs and minds”. The songs showcase Owens’ gift for 

storytelling, his searingly soulful voice infused with the 

dramatic Panavision desert sweep of Calexico, with Burns’

After only about four years, Iona Fyfe is very well 

established as one of Scotland's finest folksingers. With roots 

deep in the traditions of the North East of Scotland she was 

the youngest ever winner of the Scots Trad Music Singer of

SERIOUS CHILD & ANDY RUDDY with MOTEH

modern-acoustic duo will be supported by Scottish artist 

Moteh Parrott as part of their collaborative album tour. 

Singer-songwriters Serious Child and Andy Ruddy are taking 

their collaborative album talk about the weather on tour 

across England and Scotland this autumn. Serious Child – 

West Sussex roots musician Alan Young – and contemporary 

Bradford singer songwriter Andy Ruddy met one another 

through music and despite their 24-year age gap, were 

compelled to join forces to create an album, which has a 

rich, rootsy sound and is set for release on Friday, 3 

September. Support for the show comes from Moteh Parrott, 

a Scottish indie-folk-rock artist. His music has been 

described as having a sound comparable with "a Highland 

wilderness with all the sweeping colour and spirit which that 

encompasses.” The September tour takes in 11 towns and 

cities in September including London, Glasgow, Inverness 

and Newcastle.

Mustard consist of vocalist Katie Ball, guitarists David 

Noonan (also backing vocals) and Mete Kalyon, bassist Rob 

Clarke, and drummer Shane Maguire. Their heady blend of 

noise, trip hop, and electronic-influenced music has helped 

them build a reputation as one of Ireland’s most thrilling new 

bands. Their 2018 debut ‘Wednesday’ earned acclaim at 

home and abroad – most notably capturing a Choice Music 

Prize nomination for Irish Album of the Year. Fader praised 

the band’s “intense and rich shoegaze-meets-noise sound,” 

NME called their album “a two-toned masterpiece,” the Irish 

Independent described it as “a swirling atmosphere-heavy 

thrill-ride,” and Stereogum said “it’s easy to imagine Just 

Mustard garnering more international attention in the near

Fast rising London punk 5-piece Chubby and the Gang have 

announced a bumper 40-date tour of the UK and Ireland 

through November and December of this year offering a 

chance for many to finally see just why they've become one 

of the most exciting and talked-about punk bands in the 

world over the past year. Fronted by Manning (a former 

cabbie who now also works as an electrician), Chubby and 

the Gang have been leading a pack of bands coming out of a 

new wave of British Hardcore. Speed Kills was one of the 

critical surprises of the year thanks to its unrelentingly fun 

concoction of hardcore, pub rock, doo wop, and blues. The 

album was produced by Jonah Falco of F**ked Up, and 

boasts songs of deep substance and political conscience with 

a precise sense of time and place. It received an 8.0 

Pitchfork review, Stereogum praised its “massive barroom 

gang choruses, power chords at breakneck tempos, rock 

spelled R-A-W-K and visceral gratification,” while The 

Guardian declared them "UK punk's most vital new band"

band’s new limited edition book includes intimate behind the

Oxford, Nottingham, Liverpool, Edinburgh, Newcastle, 

Belfast, Dublin, Leeds and Coventry. Speaking about the 

book, Connor elaborates: "Originally there was no intention 

to make a book, we had Peter out on the road with us taking

in the old world at the start of 2020, our psychedelic punk 

heroes The Lovely Eggs were primed to release their new 

album ‘I Am Moron’ – their greatest work yet, over-flowing 

with political venom and fresh ideas, set to a gloriously 

independent noise. Then, of course, the pandemic happened. 

The Lovely Eggs pushed ahead, and the album came out to 

critical-acclaim and indie chart-topping status, but their 

plans to tour it far and wide were obviously scuppered. At 

first, their UK tour was rescheduled to just two months later, 

thinking there’s no way the pandemic could last more than a 

few weeks…. Fast forward a year, their UK tour has been 

rebooked independently by the band at least five times and

(Drive-By Truckers). Who the hell is Jerry Joseph? Well 

Patterson Hood and Jason Isbell have gone on record 

saying he is one of the best songwriters and performers 

ever, and are such believers that they backed him up on 

his newest album. Jason Isbell called him one of the 

greatest triple threats, a great singer, songwriter and 

performer. Richmond Fontaine liked him so much they 

took him on support for their UK farewell tour in 2016.

TEENAGE FANCLUB :: At Barrowland, Glasgow. 

Scottish alternative rock band Teenage Fanclub have 

shared a preview of their highly-anticipated album with a 

new song and video. “In Our Dreams”, written by the 

band's Raymond McGinley, is the fifth single off Endless 

Arcade (now out). The song evokes an exploratory 

voyage inward and reflects the melancholic yet uplifting 

themes present throughout the rest of the record. The 

video was shot at Motherwell Concert Hall by long-time 

collaborator Donald Milne. McGinley had this to say

based band 'The Ninth Wave' have release a new single 

and video called "Maybe You Didn't Know". The new single 

follows The Ninth Wave's Faris Badwan (The Horrors)- 

produced EP ‘Happy Days!’ and their AIM Award and 

Scottish Album of the Year-nominated debut album 

Infancy. It also arrives as the band prepares to embark on

BE CHARLOTTE :: At King Tuts, Glasgow. Multi 

instrumentalist, and singer-songwriter Be Charlotte, has 

set the bar high in 2020. 23 year old Scottish songstress is 

blessed with an instantly recognisable vocal and an ear for 

impeccable melodies. She has given her fans an 

undeniable pop anthem in ‘Lights Off’, released May 1st. 

The track immediately entered the German AirPlay Chart, 

receiving huge support across GSA. 


3 DECEMBER 

MADNESS :: At SSE Hydro, Glasgow. Madness have today 

announced their sure-to-be triumphant return to the road 

with ‘The Ladykillers Tour’. After 18 months cooped up 

considering their career options (punctuated by excursions 

out for critically acclaimed docu-series ‘Before We Was We’ 

and last night’s magnificent ‘The Get Up!’ more on which 

later) the Nutty Boys finally get back to doing what they 

do best - uniting the people for a right raucous live bash. 

And with a live set teeming with hits from their unrivalled 

back catalogue, what-a-tour this promises to be. Joining 

Madness on The Ladykillers arena tour will be very 

fragrant guests Squeeze. Squeeze first formed in 1973, 

shortly after Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook had begun 

their songwriting partnership. By 1977 they had made 

their recording debut and enjoyed a string of hits, 

establishing the band as not just a passing footnote in 

new-wave history, but as an important and vital part of 

quintessential British music. Following solo careers, the 

Ivor Novello Award-winning duo reunited in 2007 to 

relaunch Squeeze and have been touring, writing and 

recording together ever since, returning to the UK album 

charts and airwaves with 2015’s Cradle To The Grave and

world over the past year. Fronted by Manning (a 

former cabbie who now also works as an 

electrician), Chubby and the Gang have been 

leading a pack of bands coming out of a new wave of 

British Hardcore. Speed Kills was one of the critical surprises 

of the year thanks to its unrelentingly fun concoction of 

hardcore, pub rock, doo wop, and blues. The album was 

produced by Jonah Falco of F**ked Up, and boasts songs of 

deep substance and political conscience with a precise sense 

of time and place. It received an 8.0 Pitchfork review, 

Stereogum praised its “massive barroom gang choruses, 

power chords at breakneck tempos, rock spelled R-A-W-K 

and visceral gratification,” while The Guardian declared them 

"UK punk's most vital new band" and NME called them "the 

scene's clear front-runners" and Speed Kills "a thrilling 

white-knuckle ride through multiple flavours of hardcore 

punk". 


2022 

12 FEBRUARY 

KING KING plus special guests THE DAMN TRUTH :: At 

O2 Academy, Glasgow. The Damn Truth have extensively 

toured Europe and the USA, opened tours for Z.Z. Top (and 

partied with Billy Gibbons in his pyjamas), the Sheepdogs, 

Styx, and Rival Sons.They sold out the legendary Whisky a 

Go-Go in Los Angeles, sold out the Corona Theatre in their 

hometown of Montreal, and even had one of their videos 

featured on the official Janis Joplin Facebook page. It's a 

culmination of a lot of blood, sweat and tears that’s come 

fruition with “Now or Nowhere”. “Now or Nowhere” chronicles 

the band as they navigate life, love, and everything else in a 

world gone seemingly upside down and sideways during the 

past year they were unable to finish the album with Bob 

because of COVID-19 restrictions, the band recorded the 

remaining three songs with help from Juno Award-winning 

producer Jean Massicotte (Patrick Watson, The Damn Truth) 

who mixed “Everything Fades”; and the rest of the mixing 

was done by Vance Powell (Jack White, Chris Stapleton), 

Nick DiDia (Bruce Springsteen, Rage Against The Machine), 

and Mike Plotnikoff (Van Halen, Cranberries, Three Days

TROY REDFERN on tour with 'WILLE & THE BANDITS' :: 

At Hug & Pint, Glasgow. Slide guitarist and singersongwriter, 

Troy Redfern, dubbed by the British press as “the 

king of slide guitar,". Troy cut his teeth and refined his style 

over the last few years, playing festival main stages and 

blazing a trail across Europe, Scandinavia, and Russia. He’s 

also become a well-known draw on the UK Blues Rock 

festival circuit, playing alongside rock luminaries including 

Robert Plant. “Troy is a passionate, intense, free-spirited 

musician whose ferocious slide guitar style twists and turns 

timeless themes and ideas to his own ends. He’s a musical 

visionary unafraid to trample on the boundaries of restricting 

labels,” said Blues Matters Magazine. The forthcoming studio 

album is a culmination everything Troy has learnt so far on 

his musical journey, and, more importantly, brings into sharp 

focus a much tighter song-writing and more visceral,

27 MAY 

DJANGO DJANGO :: At Stereo, Glasgow. Back in the old 

world at the start of 2020, our psychedelic punk heroes The 

Lovely Eggs were primed to release their new album ‘I Am 

Moron’ – their greatest work yet, over-flowing with political 

venom and fresh ideas, set to a gloriously independent noise. 

Then, of course, the pandemic happened. The Lovely Eggs 

pushed ahead, and the album came out to critical-acclaim 

and indie chart-topping status, but their plans to tour it far 

and wide were obviously scuppered. At first, their UK tour 

was rescheduled to just two months later, thinking there’s no 

way the pandemic could last more than a few weeks…. Fast 

forward a year, their UK tour has been rebooked 

independently by the band at least five times and The Lovely 

Eggs are still yet to play the new album live, but new tour 

dtaes are now on sale for 2022.

three albums to date, with their latest opus “Reflections” 

having received rave reviews and acclaim, the band as well

and opened for a plethora of big name artists including 

Wishbone Ash, Focus, Walter Trout, Dr Feelgoodamong 

many others. In addition, the band have made many large 

festival apperances where they have shared the stage with 

the likes of The Stranglers, Feeder, FM and Cats In Space. 

Also, the band and it’s members have won and been

ECHO MACHINE supporting THE NINTH WAVE :: At 

Church, Dundee. A loud Pop Group from Dundee, and they 

have gigs! "They will be a flippin' hoot!" Echo Machine 

played the King Tut's Summer Nights Festival in 2019. In 

addition to performing live, the band released a number of 

singles in their first year together, many of which arrived 

with accompanying videos. Debut single St Elmo was 

followed by Vibrations, Chameleon and Automatic Love, the 

latter being reviewed as a 'bruising, belter of a song'. In 

addition to these videos, Echo Machine collaborated with 

Thai singer Janine Alissa Wollmann on a cover of the Billie 

Eilish track Bad Guy, producing an accompanying music 

video. Their single 'Headlights' was also well-reviewed, being 

described as 'infectious discowave'. The success of the band 

in 2019 prompted BBC radio presenter, Vic Galloway, to 

name the band as one of his 25 Scottish Artists to Watch in 

2020. In January 2020 the band announced that their debut 

album would be called Instant Transmissions. Glasgow based 




‘Happy Days!’ and their AIM Award and Scottish Album of

JENN BUTTERWORTH & LAURA-BETH SALTER @ Crail

foremost female guitarists, and has toured extensively with 

the award winning Anna Massie Band. As an accompanist 

she is in high demand, her most recent collaborations have 

involved Songs of Separation, Phil Cunningham and Fiddler’s 

Bid. Last seen in Crail with Robyn Stapleton and Claire 

Hastings. Laura-Beth Salter takes influence from the Oldtime 

and Bluegrass music that her parents played whilst she was 

growing up in Lincolnshire. After spending time studying a 

Traditional Music Degree in Newcastle she became heavily 

involved in the folk scene. She is a founding member of The 

Shee and a member of The MacLean Project led by Dougie

And, if you know anything about the band, and it's inimitable 

frontman Bertie, you'll probably be able to guess why. If not, 

let's just say these things take time. The album's title, Back 

in the Saddle, acknowledges Bertie getting back to "work" 

after taking some time out between 2016 and 2018. While 

the songs are covers, each represents something to him at 

this time in his life. So, it's more than just a hotchpotch. 

There's a story amid the chaos. But all you need to know is 

this: there's blues, there's booze-infused tunes and there's a 

bollock-load of boogie.

McGinley, is the fifth single off Endless Arcade (now out). The 

song evokes an exploratory voyage inward and reflects the 

melancholic yet uplifting themes present throughout the rest 

of the record. The video was shot at Motherwell Concert Hall 

by long-time collaborator Donald Milne. McGinley had this to 

say about the new song: “To rephrase an aphorism most 

famously used by John Lennon, existence is what happens 

while the human race is busy making other plans. This song 

is kinda about that, but like all our songs, we write them 

intuitively and only think about what to say about them 

afterwards.” Even if we weren’t living through extraordinarily 

troubling times, there is nothing quite like a Teenage Fanclub 

album to assuage the mind, body and soul, and to reaffirm 

that all is not lost in this world.

SERIOUS CHILD & ANDY RUDDY with MOTEH 

PARROT :: At Mad Hatters, Inverness (Free). 8pm. The 

modern-acoustic duo will be supported by Scottish artist 

Moteh Parrott as part of their collaborative album tour. 

Singer-songwriters Serious Child and Andy Ruddy are taking 


across England and Scotland this autumn. Serious Child – 

West Sussex roots musician Alan Young – and contemporary 

Bradford singer songwriter Andy Ruddy met one another 

through music and despite their 24-year age gap, were 

compelled to join forces to create an album, which has a rich, 

rootsy sound and is set for release on Friday, 3 September. 

Support for the show comes from Moteh Parrott, a Scottish 

indie-folk-rock artist. His music has been described as having 

a sound comparable with "a Highland wilderness with all the 

sweeping colour and spirit which that encompasses.” The 

September tour takes in 11 towns and cities in September 

including London, Glasgow, Inverness and Newcastle.

THE COMPLETE STONE ROSES :: At The Ironworks, 

Inverness. The Complete Stone Roses are one of the UK’s 

most well-known, most seen and most successful tribute 

bands. Selling out venues across the UK and Ireland 

regularly, they have helped to carry on the music of one of 

the UK’s most influential bands – The Stone Roses. The 

Stone Roses played a pivotal role in the history of the UK’s 

indie music scene. Famous hits like Fools Gold, I Am The 

Resurrection and I Wanna Be Adored are as recognisable 

now as were the heyday of Madchester and the Hacienda, 

the cultural icons from which the original band were born.

Aitchison is masterfully finding his sound; creating a unique 

blend of driving techno by fusing elements of house with

Hardgroove label helped gain huge support from the likes of

JASON SINGH :: At SEALL at Armadale Castle Gardens and

5pm. Plant Song: interactive concert - Beatbox sensation 

JASON SINGH will be performing an ambient set of new 

music derived entirely from plants using bio feedback 

sensors and incorporating voice and live processing. The set 

focuses on wellbeing, relaxation and elements of sound 

healing. You are encouraged to bring along your own plant 

and afternoon tea in this wonderful, interactive concert. Teas 

to take away will also be available from the Stables Café at 

Armadale. Booking required. Jason will put a live feed into 

the plants so that you can hear them and he will improvise 

with their song. The performance is about an hour long with 

a 15-minute reflection/Q&A afterwards. Malin Makes Music 

will be guest musician improvising with Jason.

9.30pm. Critically-acclaimed Scottish fiddle player, ROSS

Catriona McGhie :: Catrìona is a 26 year old singer from 

Stranraer who released her debut album, Òran, in 2017. 

Catrìona can regularly be found in The Grapes Bar on Friday 

evenings performing with “The Cl’yholers”, or at local Open 

Mic sessions, where she regularly performs a variety of 

Scottish songs. Jodie Rae :: ‘At First Glance’ – a project 

established by Jodie – was selected as part of the 

commissions set out by the Young Promoters Group. The 

project will include a combination of her own musical 

material alongside British Sign Language Interpretation. 

Jodie Rae is musician, song-writer and actor currently 

residing in Ayrshire and has performed in multiple venues 

across Scotland, both musically and theatrically. Most 

recently, she was selected as a song-writing mentee for the 

Dumfries Music Conference Futures programme and utilised 

this to develop her musical identity as a song-writer.

Songwriter 2019, 19 year old Kate Kyle has recently

JOESEF :: At The Cluny, Newcastle. Glasgow’s rising star 

Joesef's latest release, the Late To The Party EP, features 

gorgeous, stripped-back takes on three of his early releases, 

Loverboy, Limbo and Does It Make You Feel Good. Much

Glasgow's TRNSMT Festival in September and on tour in 

October.

ECHO MACHINE :: At Mac Arts, Galashiels. A loud Pop 


flippin' hoot!" Echo Machine played the King Tut's Summer 

Nights Festival in 2019. In addition to performing live, the 

band released a number of singles in their first year 

together, many of which arrived with accompanying videos. 

Debut single St Elmo was followed by Vibrations, Chameleon 

and Automatic Love, the latter being reviewed as a 'bruising, 

belter of a song'. In addition to these videos, Echo Machine 

collaborated with Thai singer Janine Alissa Wollmann on a 

cover of the Billie Eilish track Bad Guy, producing an 

accompanying music video. Their single 'Headlights' was also 

well-reviewed, being described as 'infectious discowave'. The 

success of the band in 2019 prompted BBC radio presenter, 

Vic Galloway, to name the band as one of his 25 Scottish 

Artists to Watch in 2020. In January 2020 the band 

announced that their debut album would be called Instant 

Transmissions.

At Mac Arts, Galashiels. Wrest are a hotly-tipped Scottish 

indie folk-rock band, making music from Edinburgh's Old 

Town. Their sound combines soaring guitars with layered 

lyrics and heartfelt melodies, reminiscent of bands like 

Frightened Rabbit, The National, Idlewild, Snow Patrol and 

We Were Promised Jetpacks. Don’t miss this must-see gig 

from one of Scotland’s most exciting emerging live acts.

TROY REDFERN on tour with 'WILLE & THE 

BANDITS' :: At The Cluny, Newcastle. Slide guitarist and 

singer-songwriter, Troy Redfern, dubbed by the British press 

as “the king of slide guitar,". Troy cut his teeth and refined 

his style over the last few years, playing festival main stages 

and blazing a trail across Europe, Scandinavia, and Russia. 

He’s also become a well-known draw on the UK Blues Rock 

festival circuit, playing alongside rock luminaries including 

Robert Plant. “Troy is a passionate, intense, free-spirited 

musician whose ferocious slide guitar style twists and turns 

timeless themes and ideas to his own ends. He’s a musical 

visionary unafraid to trample on the boundaries of restricting 

labels,” said Blues Matters Magazine. The forthcoming studio 

album is a culmination everything Troy has learnt so far on 

his musical journey, and, more importantly, brings into 

sharp focus a much tighter song-writing and more visceral,

THE LOVELY EGGS :: At The Cluny, Newcastle. Back in the 

old world at the start of 2020, our psychedelic punk heroes 

The Lovely Eggs were primed to release their new album ‘I 

Am Moron’ – their greatest work yet, over-flowing with 

political venom and fresh ideas, set to a gloriously 

independent noise. Then, of course, the pandemic happened. 

The Lovely Eggs pushed ahead, and the album came out to 

critical-acclaim and indie chart-topping status, but their 

plans to tour it far and wide were obviously scuppered. At 

first, their UK tour was rescheduled to just two months later, 

thinking there’s no way the pandemic could last more than a 

few weeks…. Fast forward a year, their UK tour has been 

rebooked independently by the band at least five times and 

The Lovely Eggs are still yet to play the new album live, but 

new tour dates are now on sale for 2022.
