Introduction to

AmiBroker’s AFL

This chapter starts the second part of the book that covers different programming

languages and trading platforms. This second part discusses AmiBroker, Visual

Basic (VBA) for Excel, Python, and TradeStation. The major goal of this particular

chapter is to introduce AmiBroker and illustrate some of its very powerful capabilities.

However, some very important building blocks of programming languages,

reserved words, data types, operators and expressions, and precedence of operators,

are quickly reviewed and used throughout the next three chapters. Even if you are

not interested in AmiBroker, make sure you read the first part of this chapter to get

a grasp on the universal usage of some key building blocks that are included in all

programming languages.
