STUARTHOLME SCHOOL
With over 100 years’ experience in educating young women,
Stuartholme School provides a balanced educational program, highquality
academic care and a nurturing environment where students
can thrive, learn and grow as individuals.
With only 690 students, Stuartholme is small enough for each girl to
be personally known, yet large enough to offer an extensive, relevant
and dynamic range of opportunities.
Stuartholme Principal, Kristen Sharpe explains that Stuartholme enjoys
a reputation for providing a devoted, supportive learning environment,
fostering a sense of community and belonging for each girl.
“This is achieved through a well-rounded education that offers
opportunities both in and outside the classroom. The Co-Curricular
Program offers a broad range of sporting and non-sporting activities for
our students. The Academic Enrichment Program aims to develop the
potential of each student by providing a pathway that acknowledges
their individual gifts and talent.
“Every aspect of teaching aims to develop the student’s selfdetermination,
to grow their leadership potential and to empower them
with the skills and confi dence to succeed,” Kristen said.
In addition, Stuartholme offers an entrepreneurial Social Justice
Program that prepares and encourages our students to be active,
informed and responsible global citizens.
“Stuartholme is part of an international network of more than 200
Sacred Heart Schools across 44 countries. Each school is connected
by the vision of the Sacred Heart Society foundress Saint Madeleine
Sophie Barat.
“Stuartholme is one of four Sacred Heart schools that make up the
Australia and New Zealand Network of Sacred Heart Schools, which
includes sister schools in Sydney, Melbourne and Auckland.”
At the heart of Stuartholme are the students, who are challenged
in all areas of development – spiritual, intellectual, social, emotional,
and physical.
As Brisbane’s only Catholic independent day and boarding school for
girls, students live and learn in the spectacular and historic grounds of
Stuartholme School, overlooking the cityscape and surrounded by the
nature of Mt Coot-tha Reserve, located 6km from the Brisbane CBD.
Students thrive under award-winning teachers who nurture academic
excellence for confi dent futures, but most of all, they are cared for with
guidance and love.
“We believe that it takes a village to raise a child and, therefore, every
member of our community plays a vital role in the wellbeing of our
students,” explains the dean of Student Wellbeing, Deb Lonsdale-Walker.
The school’s Wellbeing Program was recently recognised as a fi nalist in
this year’s Australian Educator Awards.
“The program is timetabled for years 7 to 12 as part of the curriculum
and supported by immersion initiatives: camps, retreats, leadership
development workshops and staff and parent development,”
Deb explains.
“These initiatives are integrated into the life of the school and intrinsic
to the overall program. Our wellbeing program is strongly linked with
learning, so that each student can reach their full potential and achieve
outstanding academic success.”
The school’s 2020 results were a testament to the success of the
program, with 5 per cent of Stuartholme students achieving an ATAR of
99 and above – fi ve times the state average.
Stuartholme School’s scholarship and bursary program is designed
to recognise girls who have excellence and expertise in a variety of
areas, providing opportunities for girls who would greatly benefi t from a
Stuartholme School education but who, without fi nancial aid, would be
unable to attend. Visit stuartholme.com/enrol to fi nd about more about
our scholarships and bursaries.
