Startwell Sessions<br />
If you’re struggling to entertain your little one/s then<br />
you‘ll be pleased to hear that the Startwell sessions run<br />
by <strong>Wigan</strong> Council are now up and running again after the<br />
pandemic.<br />
There is a small selection of classes available to children<br />
aged 8 months to 4 years, see what you fancy and book<br />
your space, it couldn’t be easier!<br />
Bookstart Corner runs at Standish Library on Cross Street<br />
every Monday from 1.30-2.30pm.<br />
The session is aimed at children aged 12-30 months and is<br />
designed to help your child with language development<br />
and pre-reading skills.<br />
If you’ve got a budding scientist in your home then<br />
don’t miss the Supersonic Science sessions being held at<br />
Mesnes Park in the town centre.<br />
This fun and engaging session will suit children aged<br />
2-4 years where they can take part in lots of science<br />
experiments every Thursday morning between 9.30-<br />
10.30am.<br />
Other sessions include forest school, diddi dance and<br />
musical mayhem and as restrictions continue to lift more<br />
sessions will be added.<br />
Booking is essential for all sessions due to number<br />

Makers Market<br />
Lancashire Mining Museum in Astley, near Leigh, will be<br />
hosting a Makers Market over the <strong>August</strong> Bank Holiday<br />
weekend.<br />
The market will run on Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday<br />
<strong>August</strong> 29th & 30th and is organised by SPG Events, with<br />
profits going to the Museum.<br />
In addition to the makers stalls, there will be children’s<br />
rides and a birds of prey attraction. The train rides to and<br />
from the museum will also be operational on those days.<br />
The event runs from 10am to 4pm on the Sunday and<br />
Monday and Lancashire Mining Museum is based on<br />
Higher Green Lane in Astley (M29 7JB). For more details<br />
