Indie Rock hits Ashton-in-Makerfield this month when<br />

the Brighton rockers Porridge Radio strut their stuff in the<br />

sedate surroundings of Ashton Library.<br />

Billed by The Guardian as one of the top 40 new artists of<br />

2018, Porridge Radio were planned in for a huge US Tour<br />

after their second album Every Bad was released early in<br />

2020.<br />

With COVID trashing those US plans, the group are due to<br />

kick off a nationwide tour at Ashton Library on Saturday<br />

July 17th, starting at 8pm. Ticket prices start at just £7<br />

The concert is part of an award winning project called<br />

Get It Loud In Libraries, designed to give people who love<br />

music the chance to see top-notch artists in their local<br />

library.<br />

Artisan Market<br />

Bispham Methodist Church are running an Artisan Market<br />

to support local businesses. The market will be held on<br />

Saturday 3rd July from 10am to 3pm at the church on<br />

Crank Road in Billinge.<br />

On offer for visitors will be a variety of local crafts and<br />

children’s games, food and refreshments will be supplied<br />

too via a barbeque, cafe and cake stall.<br />

Fete Returns<br />

St Luke’s Summer Fete returns to Orrell this year. The<br />

annual fete, which takes place at the church hall next to St<br />

Luke’s Church on Lodge Road, is scheduled for Saturday<br />

3rd July between the hours of 11am-4pm.<br />

Organisers promise a large variety of artisan craft stalls,<br />

traditional fete fun and games and say that entertainment<br />

will be running throughout the day.<br />

There’s a grand prize raffle with a good variety of prizes<br />

donated by local businesses. Car parking will be available<br />

for the event at the old Orrell Rugby Club on Edge Hall<br />

Road or at Winstanley College.
