Citizen commendable service

Lillie Knott contributed to saving a life in

that on April 15, 2021, she and her father

were home alone when Mr. Knott began to

experience difficulty breathing. Miss Knott was

the only person home with her father, and his

condition worsened to the point he was unable

to talk. Miss Knott had just received her

driver’s license and drove her father to the

hospital during inclement weather, indeed a

challenge for a new driver. Mr. Knott did

suffer a life-threatening medical emergency.

great credit upon Miss Knott.

Table of Honor

The Table, with its place settings, is a

way of symbolizing the fact that

members of the law enforcement

community throughout our country

are missing.

The table is set for one, though the

number is many.

The Chairs are empty. They can no

longer join us.

The Tablecloth is white - symbolizing

the purity of their intentions to serve

their communities.

The Candle is lit - symbolizing their

spirit to serve.

The glass is inverted - they cannot

drink nor toast with us this day.

A slice of Lemon is on the plate to remind

us of their bitter fate.

The single Red Rose displayed in the

vase is to remind us of their families.

CODY N. HOLTE

END OF WATCH MAY 27,2020

Officer Cody Holte was shot and killed after responding to

assist deputies from the Grand Forks County Sheriff's Office

who were fired upon as they served an eviction notice

at an apartment at 2627 South 17th Street.

When deputies made contact with the subject he fled into

a bedroom and began firing at them with a semi-automatic

rifle. Officer Holte and another officer from the Grand

Forks Police Department responded to the deputies' call

for assistance. When they arrived, the suspect again

opened fire, killing Officer Holte and wounding one of the

deputies.
