PURPOSE-BUILT
Whether it’s something as simple as a pair of
sandals or as technical as a performance snow
boot, there’s purpose built into every Dakine
shoe. Like adding an extra layer of protection
in our surf sandals to defend feet from sharp
objects or integrating a contoured fit and
lightweight EVA midsole into our winter boots, so

The upper uses a super breathable synthetic mesh to improve
breathability without compromising on durability. The vented
synthetic upper also provides excellent heat and moisture
exhaust while the reflective collar material provides additional
safety in low visibility conditions. Rounding things out are
in-tongue lace keepers that tuck lace tails out of the way for
a cleaner look.

developed Friendly Foam; EVA traction with EcoOne ®
additives to accelerate biodegradation.
Friendly Foam will degrade only after
entering biologically active landfills. After
biodegradation, the leftover material is
biomass, with trace amounts of biogas that
is either harvested as renewable energy or
burned off to reduce environmental impact.

Inspired by the thousands of lightweight bubbles that
float in the foam that forms atop the waves we love
to ride, our DK Recharge footbed uses a bed of foam
capsules to absorb the energy created when we walk.
These capsules then release the energy, putting a
little bounce in your step and reducing fatigue.

PROTECTIVE LAYER
The best breaks can’t be seen from a parking spot.
They lie off the beaten path. Paths strewn with sharp
pokey things, like thorns, lava rock and broken glass.
DK DEFEND is a protection plate technology that puts
an added layer of protection between your feet and
these hazards, allowing you to turn short scouting
missions into big adventures.
DK FLEX TECH
Some of the best lines are the hardest to get to. And
that means one thing—hike-a-bike. But huffing your
bike up trail shouldn’t be any harder than it needs to
be. So we developed DK FLEX TECH, a flex plate insert
that offers a flexible toebox to make walking easier,
but is also stiff enough on the pedals to confidently
take on any feature.

We know you’re going to send it, flat-pedal riders
always do. But no matter the number of pins or the
size of the platform, optimal pedal/shoe interface is
essential. Hamburger shin is not fake news! That’s
why we developed DK UltraGrip Rubber, an ultra grippy
compound that sticks to the pedals by allowing the
pins to contour into the sole of the shoe, letting you
rip slip-free.
DK MELLOW FOOTBED
Some feelings have to be experienced to be
explained and DK Mellow is one of them. For our slides
we wanted a feeling that provided a sense of freedom
and relaxation the minute you slipped into a pair. Like
a comfy chair or favorite pillow. We can’t tell you how
we did it, but in this ultracushy, supple foam, feet feel
cradled as you shuffle and slide.
DK TUBE TECH
From the barrels we ride to the lava tubes that wind
their way under the islands, in the surf world, tubes
are everywhere. This got us thinking. What if we placed
a series of tubes underfoot that would compress and
expand with every step. So we tried it. It worked. And
we call it DK Tube Tech.
DK FRICTION TECH
RUBBER COMPOUND
Fails happen. But they should only happen when you
are pushing the limits, not simply slipping on a wet
sidewalk. Our latest innovation is DK Friction Tech
Rubber, a grippy compound that when combined with
a smart tread design, will keep the rubber side down
whether shuffling through the built environment or the
natural one.

COLD RUBBER
The cold version has been modified into a softer
rubber compound for improved traction in a variety
of winter conditions.
