increased number
of people receiving the
COVID-19 vaccine, many
people are curious whether
visiting the beach is a safe
idea. However, even for
completely vaccinated
individuals, nothing is actually
100% safe.
The good news is that
coronavirus is highly unlikely
to be spread through water.
What is risky, though, is
being around people who
don’t reside with you. This is
because the virus is primarily
transmitted through respiratory
droplets. You can easily pick
up droplets by touching an
infected surface and then
your face and being in near
proximity to a carrier who
propels droplets directly to
your eyes, nose, or mouth.
Before heading out to the
beach, review the rules
and regulations of the local
government, public health
department, and beach
in advance. The beach
managers might need
reservations or have a limited
daily capacity. Additionally,
shower and change at home
prior to the trip to arrive at the
beach “swim ready”.
Covid-19 Transmission:
Pool Water & Beaches
ensure that tourists have access to enough facilities, such as
chairs and other materials, and that all equipment is washed
on a daily basis. Bringing hand sanitizer and disinfectant spray
or wipes, on the other hand, will be beneficial for cleaning the
equipment on your own.
If you need to wash or dry off at the pool, attempt to keep a safe
physical distance from others or enter during less busy times.
Bring an additional mask in case the primary mask gets wet.
Whether you’re in or out of the water, distance yourself from
those who do not live with you. Avoid congested rooms and
badly ventilated interior spaces, as well.

The virus is believed to transmit primarily
by respiratory droplets produced by an
infected individual as he or she coughs,
sneezes, or speaks. These droplets
can fall in nearby people’s mouths or
noses or may be inhaled into the lungs.
Additionally, the virus can spread from
an infected surface to the hands and
then to the nose, mouth, and likely eyes.
Infected individuals will transmit the
virus regardless of whether they exhibit
symptoms.
Fortunately, there are many steps you
may take to minimize the chance of
contracting or transmitting the virus when
visiting outdoor swimming places such as
beaches, lakes, water playgrounds, and
hot tubs.
Even if you and others (including
kids) don’t feel ill or exhibit any signs,
COVID-19 may be transmitted to your
families, colleagues, and community.
So it is necessary to continue taking the
following precautions to minimize your
chance of contracting and transmitting
COVID-19.
Before You Leave the House
• Wear a mask that fully protects the nose
and mouth correctly and regularly.
• Maintain a minimum of six feet of
separation from those who do not reside
with you.
• Steer clear of crowds.
• Avoid indoor areas that are
inadequately ventilated.
• When you are ill, stay at home.
• Hands should be washed regularly
with soap and water for a minimum of 20
seconds (or use hand sanitizer with at
least 60 percent alcohol).
• Get yourself vaccinated as soon as the

you cannot stand more than six feet apart from other people.
• If you are not in the pool, wear a mask.

• Never use a mask on an infant under the age of two or on someone who is
having difficulty breathing, unconscious or incapacitated, or otherwise unable to
remove the mask without assistance.
• Masks are critical when physical distancing is difficult to maintain.
• Wash your hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and water, particularly before
eating or drinking and when entering and exiting the swim area. If soap and water
are unavailable, use a hand sanitizer containing at least 60% alcohol and massage
the hands until they are dry.
• Hand sanitizers are ineffective on hands that are clearly sticky or greasy, so
make sure to brush away any sand or soil before applying.
• Avoid exchanging things such as food, appliances, games, and tools with nonfamily
members.
• If you are not wearing your mask, cover coughs and sneezes with a cloth or the
inside of your elbow, discard the towel, and wash your hands instantly, or use hand
sanitizer if soap and water are not accessible.
Summer is already here, but so is a recent spike in coronavirus cases as the
pandemic continues. Whether you’re thinking about visiting the beach or the local
pool, many people are still understandably afraid of catching the infection. That
said, it is best to continue taking safety precautions even while on vacation not
only to protect yourself but others, too.

IATA and Tourism Economics modeled two air
travel scenarios.
Baseline Scenario
• This is contingent on domestic markets
opening in Q3, with a much slower phased
opening of international markets. This would
limit the air travel recovery, despite most
forecasts pointing toward a strong economic
rebound late this year and during 2021.
• In 2021 we expect global passenger
demand (measured in revenue passenger
kilometers, RPKs) to be 24% below 2019
levels and 32% lower than IATA’s October
2019 Air Passenger forecast for 2021.
• We don’t expect 2019 levels to be
exceeded until 2023.

• As international markets open and economies recover, there will
be further growth in air travel from the 2020 low point. But even
by 2025 we would expect global RPKs to be 10% lower than the
previous forecast.
Pessimistic Scenario
• This is based on a slower opening of economies and relaxation of
travel restrictions, with lockdowns extending into Q3, possibly due
to a second wave of the virus. This would further delay the recovery
of air travel.
• In this case, global RPKs in 2021 could be 34% lower than 2019
levels and 41% below our previous forecast for 2021.

Long-Haul Travel Impact will be
Longer Lasting
When the recovery begins, it is
expected to be led by domestic travel.
• An IATA survey of recent air travelers
conducted in April 2020 found that
58% are somewhat or very likely to
restrict their initial travel to domestic
journeys.
• Domestic Revenue Passenger
Kilometers (RPKs) will only recover
to 2019 levels by 2022. International
RPKs are only expected to return to
2019 levels in 2024.
“The impacts of the crisis on long-haul travel will be much more severe and of a longer
duration than what is expected in domestic markets. This makes globally agreed and
implemented biosecurity standards for the travel process all the more critical. We have a
small window to avoid the consequences of uncoordinated unilateral measures that marked
the post-9.11 period. We must act fast,” said de Juniac.
Avoid Quarantine Measures
IATA strongly urges governments
to find alternatives to maintaining
or introducing arrival quarantine
measures as part of post-pandemic
travel restrictions. IATA’s April
survey of recent air travelers
showed that
• 86% of travelers were somewhat
or very concerned about being
quarantined while traveling, and
• 69% of recent travelers would not
consider travelling if it involved a
14-day quarantine period.

To protect aviation’s ability to be a catalyst for the economic recovery, we must
not make that prognosis worse by making travel impracticable with quarantine
measures. We need a solution for safe travel that addresses two challenges. It must
give passengers confidence to travel safely and without undue hassle. And it must
give governments confidence that they are protected from importing the virus. Our
proposal is for a layering of temporary non-quarantine measures until we have a
vaccine, immunity passports or nearly instant COVID-19 testing available at scale,”
said de Juniac.
IATA’s proposal for a temporary risk-based layered approach to provide governments
with the confidence to open their border without quarantining arrivals includes:
• Preventing travel by those who are symptomatic with temperature screening and
other measures
• Addressing the risks of asymptomatic travelers with governments managing a
robust system of health declarations and vigorous contact tracing.
The mutual recognition of agreed measures is critical for the resumption of
international travel. This is a key deliverable of the COVID-19 Aviation Recovery Task
Force (CART) of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
“CART has a very big job to do with little time to waste. It must find an agreement
among states on the measures needed to control COVID-19 as aviation re-starts. And
it must build confidence among governments that borders can be opened to travelers
because a layered approach of measures has been properly implemented globally.
IATA and the whole industry support this critical work,” said de Juniac.

program for Covid-T, the Company’s
novel diagnostic platform for detecting T-cell
activity. The US Food and Drug Administration
(“FDA”) has tentatively agreed to permit that
BioVaxys can file for a pre-Emergency Use
Authorization (“EUA”) for Covid-T. Under an
EUA, FDA may allow the use of unapproved
medical products, or unapproved uses of
approved medical products in an emergency
to diagnose, treat, or prevent serious or
life-threatening diseases or conditions
when certain statutory criteria have been
met, including that there are no adequate,
approved, and available alternatives.
Covid-T addresses an unmet need for a lowcost,
easy-to-administer, and accurate tool to
test for the presence of T-cells which may offer
lasting protection against SARS-CoV-2.
It is believed that detection of T-cells can
potentially identify safe and/or at-risk
populations. Covid-T also provides an ability
to evaluate the effectiveness of any SARS-
