Capers for 20 October 2011 - Forestville RSL Club

On our way home we stopped at Bungendore for a coffee and browse in the shops there. At Goulburn we
picked up a tour guide from the Information Centre who expertly explained different historical sites in
Goulburn and a tour of the Returned Soldiers Memorial high on the hill outside Goulburn. A very nice lunch
at Diggers by the Park Soldiers Club.
We really appreciated the welcome given to us by the Queanbeyan and Canberra Bowling Clubs. Also a
big thank you to our coach driver, and our hard working committee for bringing this trip together; and to
you, our members and friends, for making this another fun- fabulous getaway.
On a more subdued note, we had eight who had to cancel because of illness and our thoughts were with
you and any others on the sick list.
Our last event for 2011 will be the Christmas Bowls Day on 20 th November. The list is now up in the
men’s locker room – more details next week.

Lo Flyer
As reported last week, that I would give you the progress scores for the FAT, here they are – with only one
round to go there are only three remaining members who can win it.
They are – Joan MacDonald 13 pts, Jan Carty 14 pts, and Brian Chaffer, also on 4 pts. Good luck to the
three of you.
Tonight’s game will be an “Open” event and our little “Treasure” John will be running the games
as Doug and Martha Bain are “cruizin” for 2 weeks, George and Margaret North are “surfin” in
Hawaii for 2 weeks (can’t wait to see the photo’s of them in their grass hula skirts), and Kerry
and Brian will not be in attendance. (You can handle it John).
Carol Taylor had her name called out again last Thursday night. Good luck Carol in the big draw in
December. Don’t forget I’m on 10%. (That’s all the gossip).
Last Thursday night we had 18 starters. (very good). In the first round we had 2 max’s of 6 shots (very
rare), also a dead heat for 1st with Jo Yen, G North, Daisy NG, tying with J Taylor and D Sorbara on 12
shots each. The runner’s up were Tom NG, June Carswell and Margaret North. In the second game John
White (Little Treasure), Rita Lee and Margaret North were the winners, and the runner’s up were George
North and Deirdre Sorbara. Welcome home to our Flying Bowler’s members who just had four day’s in the
nation’s capital. I was told they had a great time.
