We had a few changes on our Entertainment lineup for the May 21st
Soar to Greatness event. Jerome Robinson will be with us but unable
to sing because he is still undergoing treatments on his throat but we
are thrilled that he will be there with us as he is a part of GSFE. Chelsea
Snow also will not be singing for us this year perhaps next year, her
parents still do not feel she is ready to perform in crowds. But because
I showed up at the Good Ole Gal Gala last week I heard and amazing
Cher impersonator Debbra Sweet and talked to her about coming
and because I ASKED she said YES and she is great so our lineup of
entertainers who will be performing at lunch are fantastic. Our MC this
year is Robin Moss Manning who is also amazing and was an MC for us
several years ago and everyone loved her.
Remembering
Robert
“Hollywood”
Moreno
Like the ripples in a pond the number of lives we touch grows exponentially
outward.
Robert Hollywood Moreno created a virtual title wave of influence far and wide.
Robert’s story might be chronicled by the classic movie, It’s A Wonderful Life,
where an angel is summoned from heaven back to earth to show George Bailey,
the main character in the movie, the profound difference he made in lives of so
many people. The angel went on to explain to George the countless effects he
had on the lives of others that never would have happened were it not for his
existence all while pointing out the positive impact he made for so many that
would ripple through time.
With mic in hand, Robert entertained us, made us laugh, led us in song
and dance. His quick wit, charm, and charismatic personality put him front
and center stage for just about any kind of event you can think of. His faith
in God led him through multiple health issues and in spite of it all nothing
seemed to dampen his spirit.
In this collective Tribute, we’ve included a few memories from those
closest to Robert who wanted to share their tribute with us. One such
memory is a short video from Todd Strand, a dear friend of Robert’s, who
tells the story of how Robert became known as HOLLYWOOD.
Few knew Robert, not only as a dear dear friend and business partner, as
well as Nina Hardwick did. Nina, worked with Robert through the years and
understood him and his character as well as anyone. Here is Nina’s Tribute
to Robert.
8
Global Society For Female Entrepreneurs - www.globalsocietyforfemaleentrepreneurs.org

My tribute to Robert...
Robert with Nina
Whether you were his partner, a friend, or an
acquaintance at the Apple Store, Robert had the rare
ability to block out the world and focus on anyone he
was with. He gave his undivided attention to all who
knew him. He had the ability to see the greatness in
you, you never knew was there and help you cultivate
that part of yourself. He was also very aware of all his
senses and used them fully, as God intended. He had a
childlike sense of wonder, curiosity and amazement at
things most adults tend to ignore. Looking at the
ocean, it’s vastness and smelling the salt air or sitting
in a window seat on an airplane and looking out - he
acted as if he’d smelled and seen these things for the very first time each time he saw them.
Robert is the most extraordinary, charismatic, kind, gentle, caring, loving man I’ve ever met.
He was extremely passionate about life, the military, the USA, and Our Lord and Savior
Jesus Christ. He prayed daily for friends and family and specifically asked God to bless
everything he thought, did, and said.
He had a genuine love for people and wanted to make them happy, if only with something as
little as a glint in his eye and a big smile, you knew he cared even if there were no words
exchanged. He would just make anyone feel better after meeting him. When someone asked
Robert, “How are you doing”? His very real response would be, “Lovin’ life! Livin’ in
gratitude”!
He was very passionate about music and dance throughout his life. He toured the United
States and Europe as a singer and featured dancer with the group, Up With People, in the
late nineteen sevendees. In later years, he produced phenomenal events and was a
wonderful singer and exceptional public speaker who loved to motivate and empower you to
do better and believe in yourself. He was a man of great character and soul who will be
tremendously missed and loved forever. He was truly, “A Beautiful Thing”!
Love this photo of a long time friend
and person
I always say is my second son from
another mother
A group of us made this shirt for him
and he loved it as he is Mr Hollywood
he is my Mc for the Extravaganza 4
and for the Soar To Greatness
Woman’s Conference in October he
has chaired all the extravaganzas and
all the conferences I have done for
years
It is Spring Time! Let us take time to enjoy the beauty of the earth. Nature offers us free gifts but
it is up to us to slow down and appreciate them.
Among the things we can appreciate are the gifts that are shared by our GSFE Sisters. I would
encourage everyone to get to know someone in the organization that you have not met. You
may be surprised to know what talent that person has, and is willing to share it with you. You
may even be surprised that the individual may be able to refer you to her network. Undoubtedly,
this would expand your territory!
GSFE
Sandie Fuenty
We held our April meeting on the 22nd in-person and had a great time. Our speaker, Lori Raupe,
took us on a journey of “her” COVID mindset and what she had to do to regain her discipline. I
think each one of us has discovered how different our minds have been allowed to work during
this last year plus. Who ever knew what we’d go through? Things are opening and we are now
discovering the NEW normal. Flow with it.
The Book Signing took place on Sunday, April 25 and was a fabulous success. I was so sorry I
couldn’t attend due to illness but loved seeing all the happy and excited pictures.
This is why I am passionate about what I do!
www.twitter.com/TheWic
I don’t even know where to begin at this new beginning... on one hand, I’m sooooo glad 2020
is over... on the other, here comes 2021... and I honestly don’t know how I feel about it yet. Like
many, I had to make some changes and tough decisions last year.
My first decision of 2021 was choosing my “word(s) of the year”: PASSION and CHANGE. Even
amid the challenges, I am doing my best to stay positive and hopeful. I’m rediscovering what I’m
passionate about and being reminded that change doesn’t equal “bad”.
My next decisions are as follows:
• Good Ol’ Gals is NOT closing its doors! Having built an incredible organization that has
evolved into “the most fun women can have doing business” AND celebrating 13 years in
December, we WILL continue to provide a platform for female entrepreneurs/business owners
to connect on both personal and professional level.
• The GOG Gala, which was to be held at the end of January, must be once again postponed
until later in 2021. Be sure you are on the GOGs email list and stay tuned for more to come
• Jordan & Jordan Marketing is still OPEN FOR BUSINESS and will continue to provide expert
marketing services including a revival of the Marketing Mastery Interactive Workshops If
interested, email sljordan@jordanjordan.com.
• The Business Explosion and the Business Women’s Mega Mixer annual events WILL be held,
just not like I had originally thought... INTRODUCING....
MEGA BOOM 2021! This blended event will bring
together all of the most amazing, incredible and
highly-acclaimed aspects of the individual events
into ONE SPECTACULAR EXPERIENCE with a
new agenda, new features, new opportunies, new
connections and new beginnings!
Don’t just save the date... commit to participating
and make it a HUGE celebration, a high-note
ending for 2021 and a grand kick-off for 2022!
The new website(s) are not ready yet as promotion
begins in April (provided things are
moving in the right direction).
In the meantime, for more
info, email or TEXT me...
From the messaging to the method, mastering your marketing begins with the right mix… like a recipe…
A pinch of this, a dash of that, a whole cup of something else.
You can’t bake a cake with just one ingredient. Neither can you market with just one strategy.
In this lively presentation, Shonna with Jordan & Jordan Marketing will share some tasty tidbits
(and a dash of tough love) for a mix you can adjust to fit you and your business and move closer to marketing mastery.
Shonna Jordan is the owner of Jordan & Jordan Marketing, a North County San Diego-based agency established nearly 20 years
ago providing marketing education and training, expert marketing materials development and marketing campaign strategy and
implementation to business owners, entrepreneurs and independent agents striving to find creative, yet proven strategies to kick start
their business or give it a kick in the seat of the pants. From branding and materials to messaging, strategy and implementation, she has
helped hundreds of businesses to look, sound and be attractive to their target audiences and connect with both their prospects and
customers in a meaningful way. It’s not just her education and experience that makes her “someone you should listen to”, it’s her gifts,
talents and very real and authentic communication skills that set her apart. With a lively and engaging speaking and presenting style, she
will be sure that you not only gain golden nuggets of marketing knowledge but that you leave having had an experience you’ll treasure.
STEPPING OUT OF COVID INTO THE REAL YOU
•Confirming your mind set
•Doing a wellness check
•Creating your plan
Six years ago, Kara Maldonado was working in a senior executive position in a 25-year career in real estate development.
Not only was she working in a high stress environment, she hadn’t been taking care of herself: she ate very unhealthily, she
slept only 3-4 hours a night (if she was lucky) and she took care of everyone’s else’s needs instead of her own. Most of her
key relationships were toxic.
One day she woke up in a hospital bed. She had passed out. After being diagnosed with a rare blood disorder and
autoimmune illness, Kara was forced to leave her career.
While suffering through her chronic illness she was introduced to Cryoskin. After only three treatments Kara was relieved of
the inflammation and joint/muscle pain. The added features were the 89 plus pounds that she lost through her journey to
find an organic and holistic lifestyle change.
Today, Kara’s business Real Bodies Period has flourished beyond her wildest dreams. As Covid-19 hit, she quickly pivoted
into an entirely different direction, made a plan, and got out of her office lease. How could she do business if people weren’t
going outside their homes?
She will share her methods and show us how to pivot our lives and businesses into our real selves.
The South Orange County GSFE meets every 4th Tuesday at 6:00 pm. Please reserve your attendance.
Temecula GSFE Network news
By Robbie Motter
Our May meeting was alot of fun, originally Dr Cherilyn Lee was going to be our speaker but she
had some relatives fly in from a well know celebrities family and would be working with them
at her clinic for a few days, so I decided we would do table topics and that worked out well as I
forgot the meeting date was Cinco de Mayo night and they had a band and it would have been
difficult with a speaker as the band was loud and great so we GSFE women just took advantage
of it and had fun.
Missing from the photo was Barbara Berg, And Debbie Love who arrive after it was taken . In the
photo standing left to right is Robbie Motter, Denise Gregory, Allie Thornton, sitting is Angela
Covany and Felisha Harris.
Here are some fun videos of us enjoying the great music, we GSFE women know how to work
hard and to have FUN so check them out.
We enjoyed the table topics and we enjoyed dancing to the great music and they handed us
some Cinco De Mayo stuff which we have on our heads plus I told them about our conference
and they gave me a bag full of goodies. Always works to ASK.
Global Society For Female Entrepreneurs - www.globalsocietyforfemaleentrepreneurs.org
Dawn McCoy is our speaker for next month, and in July Stone Love will be coming from the bay
area to speak for us.
My co director Shelly Rufin was under the weather so could not join us and others were
attending other Cinco De Mayo events. Barbara Berg a Temecula GSFE member drives all the
way from Pomona to join our meetings and Debbie Love drove from Encinitas as they always
enjoy all our GSFE meetings.
I want to thank all who brought me stuff for the Temecula GSFE network basket that we are
putting together and hoping to hear from some other members for things to add for our network
basket for the conference. All the networks are putting stuff together from their members
for their baskets. Thank you Gillian for the Reality Rally stars cookbooks, we will put them in
different baskets since you donated 5 of them, Wait to you see Gillian since she has stayed in
for Covid her hair is beautiful and shoulder length and she is having fun with seeing how many
ways she can wear it. Soon she will feel comfortable to venture out and we will again see her and
others who are still staying in. All of us that showed up had our shots so we were good to go
and we had our own private space at the restaurant.
Its sort of been a challenging week for me lots of computer issues but I have been trying to just
do what I can and not get stressed and wait for my new computer that Johnathan is looking for
me. I lost all my photos and trying to figure out how to get in touch with Icloud to have them
send them back to me, perhaps in the next few days I can deal with that.
I want to thank Kimberly Anderson for being there for me. Mernas in Sun City is closed and
Merna gave me 5 long tables which we need for the conference for vendors and check in etc
and we needed 17 and the links only has 12 so Merna gave me the 5 tables and Kimberly took her
husbands truck to Mernas and picked them up and delivered them to the Links and they had to
be out of the restaurant by the May 6th so Kimberly got them May 5th and this week also I had to
go to Mernas and pick up all my tablecloths, thank God Johnathan was here as we filled up two
cars mine and his of my stuff that they had at the restaurant including 60 champagne glasses plus
a box of champagne glasses that belong to Joan Wakeland that I picked up, then we brought
it all to my house unloaded it and my organizing genius Jean Olexa met us and we got it all put
in place temporary it was 11 bins of all different color table cloths and some table decorations
and the red carpet, our big screen we use for programs and more, but together we all made it
happen. It is amazing how something can happen in a day and change everything you planned
to do but we women are able to balance and do whatever we have to do.
Come and see us next month at the Temecula meeting and more importantly come and join us
at the GSFE Soar to Greatness conference we only have 14 tickets left and remember you as a
member get a special price of only $50.00 because I did my birthday fundraiser, non members
are still $100.00.
Stay well and SHOW UP and ASK....
Virtual Thursdays at
GSFE
Angeline Benjamin
By Angeline Benjamin, Director
We a had a fun Virtual network meeting through zoom on First Thursday
afternoon, April 1st, 2021 at noon PST; no, it was not an April’s fool’s day!
Laurie Davis, an Author, Speaker, and a Business Coach from Alberta,
Canada was our speaker. Laurie has been an entrepreneur for 40 years.
She was well qualified to share with us “What does it take to be an
Entrepreneur?
She conducted an interactive presentation. We all got to participate to
create our own business balance wheel and had a chance to create our
own evaluation when it come to the following topic of our business:
• Personal /Professional Development
• Marketing
• Customer Service
• Vision
• Closing Sales
• Goals & Accomplishment
• Administration
• Profit
At the end we have to be honest to ourselves, which area we need to
improve and focus more. Since she believes in the philosophy: “Teach
others to fish and not giving them the fish.” Since loves to conduct this
presentation as a learning tools for all of us Entrepreneurs. Therefore,
when it come to our business, Laurie said, we need to be able to
admit and be honest with our selves, the area we are good at doing it
ourselves and the areas we need to find somebody else who has the
expert to manage or do it for us. So, our business can grow.
This month, we are excited to introduce our new Virtual First Thursday
GSFE member, Alicia Couri from Florida, who joined GSFE in January
2021. Let’s welcome her to be part of our GSFE sisterhood.
Alicia was a bold, audacious, outspoken, and courageous 3-year-old
living in Trinidad. What she didn’t know was that her life was about to
change.
Global Society For Female Entrepreneurs - www.globalsocietyforfemaleentrepreneurs.org
45

Two major things happened by the time she was 4. First there was a war… a war between
her mother and her hair. Her hair was undefeated, so in a desperate effort to control the
uncontrollable her mother cut it off, leaving her with the nickname “Bald Head!” Being the
tomboy that she was, she had an identity crisis because not only did she act like a little boy, but
now she looked and was constantly mistaken for one.
The second major event in her life took her from the island of Trinidad where she was born and
moved her and her family all the way across the globe to a land Down Under – yep Australia. Her
Father was the very first West Indian invited and scholar-shipped into a groundbreaking program
for the University for Agronomy, so her entire family rooted up and moved.
When she started school at five, she found out that she, along with her older sister, were the
only two dark-skinned children in a school of close to 1200 kids. There were stares, jeers, and lots
and lots of inappropriate questions. Alicia believed the only way to get through it was to try to
disappear and not be noticed, and that belief, along with a strong belief that nothing about her
was right, took her through most of her life into adulthood.
Her family moved back to Trinidad once her father had completed his Doctorate Degree. Alicia
now looked like everyone else in school, but didn’t sound like anyone, so she once again had to
hide. This time the problem was her voice.
Struggling with her own confidence, identity and beauty, Alicia made the decision to once again
leave Trinidad, this time for Miami, FL to study fashion. This time she was married and moved with
her new family.
After a few years in Miami, unable to work while waiting for her Green Card to be approved,
Alicia became a stay-at-home mom. During that time, she became very involved in her church
in many departments. When her children started school, she became very involved in the PTA,
serving in every position on the board, including president, several times for over 8 years.
At the same time, she started AC Beauty, an onsite Hair & Makeup service. For the next 9 years
she worked that business, but felt there was so much more. At that point, she hired her very
first coach to help her build a stronger brand. Her personal brand began to take shape. As her
personal development and growth continued to expand, she launched her speaking career with
speeches at Harvard, West Point, and Notre Dame. She became an author, writing two books
and co-authoring six others. In the following years, she learned how to book herself on television
and appeared on countless network news programs. A girl that wanted to hide and disappear
finally started to emerge and discover the gifts and talents she always had and what her mission
and purpose was. She paid her coaching forward, helping clients build their own personal brand
and appear on tv. She became the Audacious Confidence Growth Expert, lending her advice
on how to step out more boldly to others. She developed the 7 Steps to Audacious Confidence
and shares that with others to help them boost their confidence.
Her Audacious Confidence Movement took her to a National Pageant for Woman of Achievement
in 2019. She was crowned Mrs. United States Woman of Achievement 2020, and won several
awards during that event, including Ms. Photogenic, a Platform Award and a Speech Award.
Her business soon experienced another shift. As the RedCarpetCEO, Alicia started the radio
show “Unleash Your Audacious Confidence,” which evolved from a series of web shows to a
46
Global Society For Female Entrepreneurs - www.globalsocietyforfemaleentrepreneurs.org

Nationally Syndicated Podcast.
Alicia then transitioned her business from working with individual
entrepreneurs building their confidence and personal brands as the
RedCarpetCEO to Alicia Couri Inc., a boutique consulting firm working
with companies to help them identify the strengths of their employees,
create stronger, more synergistic teams, and connect their business
goals to the talent they have. She does trainings and workshops, in
addition to running Kolbe & Predictive Index Assessments to identify
gaps in many areas of businesses. She is a certified consultant in both
Assessment tools. Her goal is to help leaders develop into better, more
effective leaders, as well as to help their teams become more proactive
and take 100% ownership.
A secret dream Alicia had was to become an actor. That dream came
true when she was cast in not just one, but two independent movies
being filmed in South Florida.
Although most of her professional services cater to the Corporate
market, Alicia still has a heart for entrepreneurs and small business
owners. She couldn’t let them go, so she created a platform for Small
Business Owners/Entrepreneurs call Small Business Saturday Shout-Out,
a Facebook networking group and show that gives business owners the
opportunity to share their stories and services to an audience live.
Alicia belongs to many organizations, International Association of
Women, GSFE, Black Owned Media Alliance, where she is also the Chair
of the Marketing Committee, and is a very active participant at her
Church with the children’s ministry and the overall Guest Services.
Alicia has a husband of 30 years and three children and enjoys spending
time with her family and vacationing at Orlando’s theme parks.
Alicia would love to connect with you.
5 Main components of
BRANDING
Third component of branding: TARGET AUDIENCE
Target Audience: Describe who your customers are and why they need you. How your products
or services solve their problems
When it comes to marketing, if you’re trying to talk to everybody, you’re going to have a
difficult time reaching anybody. Vague and generic messages are far less likely to resonate
with audiences than specific, direct communication – which is why targeting in marketing is so
important.
What Is Targeting in Marketing?
Targeting in marketing is a strategy that breaks a large market into smaller segments to
concentrate on a specific group of customers within that audience. It defines a segment of
customers based on their unique characteristics and focuses solely on serving them.
Instead of trying to reach an entire market, a brand uses target marketing to put their energy
into connecting with a specific, defined group within that market.
The four main types of market segmentation are:
1. Demographic segmentation: age, gender, education, marital status, race, religion, etc.
2. Psychographic segmentation: values, beliefs, interests, personality, lifestyle, etc.
3. Behavioral segmentation: purchasing or spending habits, user status, brand interactions, etc.
4. Geographic Areas: neighborhood, area code, city, region, country, etc.
A brand might also leverage business segmentation, taking into consideration things like
industry, company size, or annual revenue.
Through market segmentation, brands get more specific about their target market. They can
focus on a small group of customers who will be most likely to benefit from and enjoy their
products.
