L to R: Moses, Mikee, Sweet Pea (age 2) and
Ginger (age 14). They rule over our house
and have us well trained. They do not speak
“human,” but we have learned much of their
doggie vocabulary. Their daily activities include
fetch, sit/stay, squirrel chasing, belly scratching,
sneaking food from plates as well as playing
guard dog.
Daddies are Mark Benton, Focus Mid-South Contributing
Writer, and his husband Mike Millson
Harper Jameson is a 1.5 year-old Lab/
terrier mix. She has been part of my
family since she was 10 weeks old.
Harper’s smile is contagious and always
lights up my day. There is nothing like the
unconditional love of my friend!
Harper’s mom is Amanda Bolton
We adopted Toast from the Humane
Society of Memphis seven months ago.
She was just 3 months old when we got
her. Raising a puppy is harder than we
realized, but it has been a lot of fun too.
She’s a very trusting and loving animal,
and even though she steals our socks, we
are glad she’s found a home with us.
Parents are Randall Sloan, Ray Rico Freelance Traffic
Manager and his wife Angelique
Banjo is an eight year-old
Jack Russell that came into
my life when I was carefree
and single six years ago.
He is so patient with my
new life as a mom – he
even howls along with my
daughter’s cries whenever
she is upset.
Mommy is Jada Thompson Stewart
Focus Mid-South Contributing Artist
Bird (or Birdie) is a one-year-old Tabby cat. My girlfriend,
Jen, rescued our cat during a big
storm. She’d heard a cat crying
outside, looked over the fence and
found a soaking wet kitten. We
tacked up flyers for weeks, but no
one claimed her, so we decided
to keep her. We named her Bird
because of the bird-like sounds
she makes when she runs around
the house. She’s crazy and full of
energy, but we love her.
Bird’s dad is Christian Westphal
Interactive Designer, Ray Rico Freelance
Tiana is a 4 to 5 -year -old poodle/chihuahua mix. She was my
foster dog that I secretly let my daughter name so that we’d have
to keep (Tiana). Kevin is a 2 1/2 -year -old ‘boogle’ (poodle/beagle/
pointer mix). He loves to ‘spoon’ and sleeps on the bottom bunk of
our son’s bunk beds. We love to travel with our dogs. They make
everyone smile!
Mommy is Robin Beaudoin,
Lucy is a 3-year-old pit mix
who we’ve had since she
was a pup. Lucy gets super
excited when we come home, and runs around the
house or yard in such a crazy haphazard way that she
often crashes into things. Vitamin is an almost 8-yearold
cat that we adopted when she was a kitten. She
likes to try to convince us she hasn’t been fed yet and
sometimes she succeeds. She has recently taken to
peeing on Lucy’s bed if Lucy irritates her.
husband, Ben Bauermeister, Ray Rico Freelance Web Developer
