Playhouses
A playground should also have quiet areas,
somewhere where children can have their own
space. These quiet areas promote communication
and stimulate roleplay activities, such as
playing families. It is extremely important that
toddlers and pre-school children develop the social
skills that they will need throughout their
lives. Role play gives children the opportunity
to reflect and process the adult world around
them. In fact, it is not the external appearance
of a play house that is important. It is what is
inside that counts: tables, chairs, counters and
shelves – small touches that can stimulate the
imagination and support the child in his/her
role play.
