The safety of our staff and participants is of the utmost importance. Day Camp activities will be modified

and adjusted based on recommendations and guidance from public health officials. The Summer Day

Camp Family Handbook will be made available on April 30, 2021 and will be updated throughout the

summer as we make any necessary changes to follow the guidance and direction of the IDPH and CDC.

Your child will NOT be able to start camp without a Data Form.

The Medical Form is only necessary if your child has a medical condition.

*If eligible to receive resident rates, ensure your residency is up to date (proof of

residency must be provided annually). To avoid creating a duplicate account online,

contact the Sullivan Community Center to verify your login information.

Required Swim Test

Campers are required to pass a basic swim test to be able to swim with

the Vernon Hills Park District. Visit vhparkdistrict.org and go to Summer

Day Camps, listed under the Programs tab to view the requirements of

the swim test. Choose one date. No test is required for Preschool Camp.

Camp Refund Policy

Camp refund requests made prior to the camp registration deadline

receive a full refund, less a $5 service charge per camp/per child. No

camp refunds will be issued after the camp registration deadline. All

camp refund requests must be made in writing. Forms are available

online or at the Sullivan Community Center.

Camp

Counselor-In-Training Program

Grade 8, based on 2020/21 school year

Do you enjoy working with children? Did you love your own camp

experience and are ready to inspire others? Counselors-In-Training work

alongside camp staff to make Sullivan Day Camp and Preschool Camp

both memorable and fun for the little ones! Counselors-In-Training

are provided with opportunities to develop their oral communication,

critical-thinking, problem-solving, interpersonal and leadership skills.

Counselors-In-Training participate in orientation in May and will receive

constructive feedback on their participation throughout the summer.

Special Recreation Association

of Central Lake County

The Vernon Hills Park District is a cooperative member agency of the

Special Recreation Association of Central Lake County. SRACLC provides

community based therapeutic recreation programs and services to

people of all ages with disabilities or special needs.

SRACLC is a cooperative effort of the Grayslake, Vernon Hills, and

Mundelein Park Districts and the Villages of Hawthorn Woods, Lake

Zurich, Libertyville, and Lincolnshire. Individuals residing within the

boundaries of the Member Agencies are considered “residents” of

SRACLC and may utilize the services.

SRACLC offers more than 500 weekly programs, special events,

virtual programs, and camps during the year. SRACLC also recognizes

that some people with disabilities prefer to participate in recreation

programs within their own Park District or Recreation Department.

SRACLC can help you with this opportunity by providing an extra

staff, if deemed necessary, behavior management support, disability

awareness training, and other adaptive services necessary for safe and

successful participation.

SRACLC needs your help!

Program leaders, part-time staff, and volunteers are needed to assist

individuals with special needs or disabilities. If you are interested in

part-time work, please contact the SRACLC office at (847) 816-4866.

SRACLC Day Camp 2021

SRACLC camps are geared towards children and teens, ages 3-21, with

special needs or those who have better success in smaller groups with

more supervision. Counselors plan fun and exciting activities such

as high energy group games, themed crafts, water play, singing and

dancing, and so much more. Campers will enjoy outdoor play each day.

Note: Campers are grouped according to age and ability.

Camp

Preschool Camp | 3-5 Years

Discover, learn, play and explore! Preschool Camp is the perfect way

to ease your child’s transition into preschool or keep your preschooler

active and engaged throughout the summer. Activities include arts &

crafts, stories, games, and themed activities. Campers will enjoy both

indoor and outdoor activities weather permitting.

Preschool Camp families are encouraged to download the Homeroom

App to learn about planned activities, obtain camp announcements, and

view photos of our daily adventures. Children enrolled in Preschool Camp

must be able to use the restroom independently.

Happy Campers | 3-5 Years

Looking for an afternoon adventure? Happy campers connects children

with nature in an interactive, hands-on learning environment. From

nature hikes and bug hunts to parachute games and bubbles, Happy

Campers will spend the majority of their afternoon outdoors enjoying

traditional summer camp activities including arts and crafts, music and

movement, stories and games. Pack a small healthy snack and water

bottle labeled with your child’s name each day. Children enrolled in the

morning session of Preschool Camp will be brought to Happy Campers by

camp staff.
