Can he just lie down on the bed or sit down
and have a coffee with the family?
Would dad lend the worker his car?
And why not?

Because the worker is not part of the

So he works for wages. He is under a different
system. Everything depends on his performance.

a reward. But if he does something wrong and
breaks the rules, he will be punished.
So these 2 systems are not the same.

A worker is under the works-wages system and
either gets a reward or punishment.
Have you ever heard this saying, “Do good,
get good; do bad, get bad?”
Yes.
This is what we find in religion.
So we can call this system also the religious
system.
In this system, everything depends on
performance.
So I will write down the words ‘works-wages’ and
‘performance system.’

on the worker’s performance.
Have you heard the saying, ‘Rely on
yourself’? [In Thai: Ton ben ti pueng heng
ton.]
This is a saying from religion.
So the religious system is all about performance.
It is not about love and a relationship.
Now, God did not want man to live under that
system.
God wanted man to live in a love relationship
with Him so that He would care for man.
Like a father and a family cares for a child under
the family system.
However, God gave man a free will.

man, he put them in a
garden called Eden.
Eden represented the
family system because
this is how God wanted
man to live.

God said to the first man,

“Do not eat from this tree that

will die.” [See Genesis 2:16-17]

Now, what Adam did also affects us because we
were all born from his linage.
Have a look at this drawing.
This is Adam and Eve.
In the beginning, God created them to be in the
family system.

So when the Thai team gets a goal, the
scoreboard will say THAILAND:1, KOREA:0.
It does not say ‘Portipat.’
It says ‘Thailand’ because Portipat is part of the
team that represents Thailand.

whole human race.
Because Adam initially
chose to be separated
from God, the entire
human race is now
born into separation
from God.
And people have a
sinful nature in them.
This is not because
of anything that
people have done.
They received this
sinful nature because
of Adam. It is their

believe that they have

they are good people in

Let’s take, for example, some standard rules in
Thailand. They are called the five moral laws.
These rules go like this.

do bad, get bad,” you are guilty.
You should receive punishment, right?
Or we call it a curse. In Thai, it is called ‘gam.’
In Thai, it is called ‘gam.’
Right?
Yes.
How about lying? Have you ever told a lie?
Yes.
How about sexual immorality?
Have you ever had an impure thought
or looked at an unclean picture, or done
something that was sexually impure?
So, according to this system, you deserve
punishment.

When we look around us, we can see the people
being in that sinful condition.
And there is nothing that you can do about it
because you were born into it.

But I have good news.
God loves you.
God loves the world and people.
That’s why he has done something to help us.
Shall we look at what God has done to help
us?
This will be good.
Now what God has done to help us is this.
He sent a new representative to this earth.
Someone like Adam.
Yes.
The problem with Adam is that he took the whole
human race into separation from God.
And then everybody born from the lineage of
Adam was born into a state of separation from
God.
That’s not because of anything that a person has
done.
That’s because of Adam.
So how did God solve that problem?
He sent a new representative: someone who did
not come from the lineage of Adam.
Do you know who that was?
Yes, Jesus Christ.
Jesus.

So when Jesus was born, Mary (Jesus’ mother)
was a virgin.
God created the body of Jesus in the womb of
Mary through the Holy Spirit.
Mary was a virgin when Jesus was born.
That is why Jesus didn’t get the inheritance of
Adam.
The sinful state.
Jesus was born holy.
He was called “The Holy One.”
He was also called the “Son of God.”
So when Jesus was born, He was holy.
And when Jesus was on this earth, He didn’t
commit any sin.
He never did anything wrong.
He was holy, without sin.
And then Jesus did something for us.
He paid for our sins.
I other words, he received the punishment that we
should get.

How can we understand that?
Let’s look at another picture.
I will draw someone who is riding a motorcycle
and drives through a red traffic light without
stopping.
So here is an intersection.
And here is someone who is riding a motorcycle.
And here are the traffic lights. The light is red.

There is only one problem.
Behind the intersection is a police station.
The rider of the motorcycle didn’t see that.
And there is a policeman who has seen that the
motorcycle rider went through the traffic lights
without stopping even though the traffic lights
were red.
So he waves the rider of the motorcycle to stop.

What’s going to happen now?
The motorcycle rider has clearly broken the traffic
law.
So the policeman needs to punish him.
He can’t just let him go because of the traffic law.
If the policeman let him go just like that, he would
be breaking the law too.
So, according to the law, the policeman needs to
fine him. The fine is 500 Baht.
But there is a problem. The rider of the
motorcycle doesn’t have any money.
So the policeman takes him inside the police
station.

Then the motorcycle rider calls a friend.
“Can you help me?”
“I’m here at the police station. I need to pay a fine, but I
don’t have any money.”
His friend then quickly comes and pays the fine
for him.
So the policeman can then let him go.
This is what Jesus did.

So when Jesus was on the cross, he received the
punishment for the sins of the whole world.
This includes you and me.
Jesus died for your sin and my sin.

But why could Jesus die for our sins?
Because He was without sin.
Imagine the story of the motorcycle again.
The friend of the person who was caught by the
police had money.
And he was willing to help his friend.
So he could help him.
But imagine the motorcycle rider calls another
friend.

And that friend says,
“Sorry, I don’t have any money.
I also owe money to someone.
I can’t help you!”
So you can only help someone else if you also
have money.
If you are in debt yourself, you cannot help
anyone else in debt.
So Jesus could only help us and pay for our sins
because he was without sin.

If Jesus had had sin himself,
he could not have helped us.
When he died for our sins
on the cross, he was put in a
grave for 3 days and 3 nights.
It is like a man going to
prison for a certain period.
And when that time is over,
the man is again released

So after 3 days and 3 nights,
Jesus rose again from the
dead.
This is proof that our sins
have been forgiven!

So when you believe that Jesus is your new
representative, there is something that you can do.
Let us look at what the bible says about this in
Acts 2:38-39.
“Repent, and let every one of you be
baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the
remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of
the Holy Spirit. For the promise is to you and to your
children, and to all who are afar of, as many as the
Lord our God will call ...”

So what should we do when we want to come to
Jesus?
First, we need to turn to Him. This is what the
word ‘repent’ means. It means to turn away from
our way and to turn to Jesus.
So I will draw a return sign here.
So if we really want to turn to Jesus, we will want
to turn away from everything else. It is like when
you get married. When we get married, we are
ready to say ‘bye-bye’ to any other old girlfriend.

Then, when you turn to Jesus and repent from
your own ways, the next step is to get baptized.
Do you remember the story of the football team
that represents a country?
So when Jesus died on the cross, He did not die
for Himself.
He died for us. For you and me. And then He was
buried.
When we believe that he is our representative,
it also means that we died and were buried with
Him.
This is what it means to ‘get baptized.’

When someone gets baptized,
there is water, and then that
person gets buried (dunked)
into the water.
Then we are connected with
Jesus in His death.
So this is a container with
water.
And this is the person who
gets baptized. (The person
who is put underwater.)

the other underwater.)

So when you get baptized, this will connect you
with the death of Jesus.
God doesn’t just want to change your life.
He wants to give you a new life.
But first, He has to put that old life to death.
The old Adamic life is not useless for anything.
So when you get baptized, you are connected to

You experience a death.
We read before what you should do.
“Repent, and let every one of you be
baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the
remission of sins ...”
So you get baptized in the name of Jesus Christ
for the forgiveness of sins.
Jesus died for your sins.

The Holy Spirit resurrected Him.

That is why we read before what we should do
when we believe and want to come to Jesus:
“Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name
of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you
shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For
the promise is to you and to your children,
and to all who are afar of, as many as the
Lord our God will call ...” [Acts 2:38-39]
We are 2000 years afar from the first time the
Holy Spirit came to be in people. But this promise
that the Holy Spirit will be in us is also for us
today.
So after you have been baptized, we will pray for
you, and then the Holy Spirit will come and be in
you.
Then you will be connected to Jesus in His
resurrection.
Then you will have a new life.
So when you believe that Jesus is your new
representative who died for you on the cross, this
is what you do.
First, you repent.
You turn away from your own way and your old
way of believing.
Then you get baptized in the name of Jesus
Christ.
Then you are connected with Jesus in His death.

And then, when the Holy Spirit comes to be in
you, you are connected to Jesus in His life.
Then you have moved out of the works-wages
system and come again to the family system.
Then you will get to experience that God deals
with you as with a son in His family.
Then you will get to experience His love for
yourself.
This is what we need.
Without love, we cannot function in this life. A
car needs petrol so that it can run.
If a car does not have petrol, it cannot function
properly.
We are the same.
We need to experience God’s love to be able to
live appropriately.
Without God’s love, we cannot function
properly and run into all sorts of problems.
Like a car that doesn’t have fuel.
It can’t go anywhere.
So we need God’s love in this life.
And this is what Jesus has come for.
To re-connect us again with God.
God is a good Father who wants us to
experience His love and be in His family.

SUMMARY

So let’s summarize what we have said.
God created the first couple (Adam and Eve)
to be in His family and live under the family
system.
But Adam chose to leave the family system and
came under the works-wages system.
Because of Adam every human being who was
born after him was born into separation from
God.
Under the works-wages system, there are rules
and punishments.
So God sent Jesus to be a new representative.
As God’s new representative, Jesus paid the
penalty for our sins by dying on the cross.
Then He was buried, and after 3 days and 3
nights, He rose again from the dead.
Through what Jesus has done, we can move
out of the works-wages system. And we can
be again united with God, under the family
system.
When we believe this, what should we
do?
First, we should repent.

Turn away from our ways and fully turn to
Jesus.
Second, get baptized.
This connects us to our death with Jesus.
And then we can receive the Holy Spirit.
This then connects us to the resurrection of
Jesus.
Then we can begin a new life in the family of
God under the family system.
Then we get to experience the love of God.
We get to experience the Father’s love.
This then is the start of a new life for us.
