Dear Junior Tennis Players,
Take a moment to understand what errors are, and
how they affect the game of tennis, and why they
are important.
If no one makes any errors, we won’t have a game
of tennis, because two prople will just keep hitting
the ball back to each other, over and over again, until
someone passes out from exhaustion... to determine
the winner?
It’s important to note that, the same errors that you
the junior players make, are the same errors that the
pros (who are getting paid big money) make. That is
hitting the ball long, wide, and into the net.
Just be sure, that you’re the one who’s forcing your
opponents to make those errors.
The most common mistake that
players make in tennis, whether it’s
the beginners or the pros, is hitting
the ball into the net.
The reason is because, when players
are playing from their baseline,
they could see the other baseline,
right through the net.
And because they can see through
the net, they don’t think that there’s
an obstacle to hit over, so they naturally
hit through to the other baseline,
instead of up and over.
If the net was made of plywood or
a solid material that you couldn’t
see through, players would instinctively
hit up over the net.

IN TENNIS IS
UP
8 Serveitup May 2021
Every time you hit the ball in tennis, it
should be up. It doesn’t matter what
stroke it is, whether it’s a forehand,
backhand, serve, volley, slice, you have
to hit up. There is never a time or a
stroke in tennis, that you hit down.
