Fallen in the dust, and Her limbs motionless, She was surrounded by friends<br />

holding lotuses, their hearts out of love filled with hundreds of fears, and their<br />

tears flooding the Yamunä's waves.<br />

paläçaiù kälindé-salila-çiçirair véjita-tanum<br />

parävåtta-çväsäìkura-calita-kaëöhéà kalayatäà<br />

sakhé-sandohänäà pramada-bhara-çälé dhvanir abhüt<br />

tataù-then; täm-to her; nyasta-placed; aìgém-limbs; urasi-on the breasts; lalitäyäù-of<br />

Lalitä-gopé; kamaliné-lotus; paläçaiù-with petals; kälindé-of the Yamunä river; salila-of<br />

the water; çiçiraiù-with the coolness; véjita-fanned; tanum-body; parävåtta-restored;<br />

çväsa-breathing; aìkura-slight; calita-moved; kaëöhém-throat; kalayatäm-watching;<br />

sakhé-of friends; sandohänäm-of the multitudes; pramada-of joy; bhara-great; çäléconsisting;<br />

dhvaniù-sound; abhüt-became.<br />

When Her limbs resting on Lalitä's breast were fanned with many lotus petals cool<br />

with Yamunä water and Her throat moved with the sprout of a breath, Her watching<br />

friends made a joyful sound.<br />

nidhäyäìke paìkeruha-dala-viöaìkasya lalitä<br />

tato rädhäà néraharaëa-saraëau nyasta-caranä<br />

milantaà kälindé-pulina-bhuvi kheläïcita-gatià<br />

dadarçägre kaïcin madhura-virutaà çveta-garutam<br />

nidhäya-having placed; aìke-in the middle; pankeruha-lotus flower; dala-petals;<br />

viöaìkasya-of the bed; lalitä-Lalitä-gopé; tataù-then; rädhäm-Çrématé Rädhäräëé; néraharana-saranau-on<br />

the path to the water; nyasta-placed; carana-feet; milantammeeting;<br />

kälindé-of the Yamunä river; pulina-bank; bhuvi-on the ground; kheläpastimes;<br />

aïcita-bent; gatim-movements; dadarça-saw; agre-in front; kaïcit-a certain;<br />

madhura-sweetly; virutam-warbling; çveta-garutam-white swan.<br />

Placing Rädhä on a bed of lotus petals, to fetch some water Lalitä put her feet on<br />

the path. On the Yamunä's shore she saw a graceful and sweetly warbling white<br />

swan approach her.<br />
