No treatment-related adverse events werereported in the trial.92
The device has been designed as an at-home treatment formild-to-moderate COVID-19 in adults who have tested positivefor the SARS-CoV-2 virus. These clinical study results followedthousands of in-vitro experiments and a Phase I safety study inhealthy subjects which have all now been submitted as part ofa comprehensive package to the FDA requesting EmergencyUse Authorization.“More than half the people who test positive for SARS-CoV-2will either be asymptomatic or have a mild-to-moderate case ofCOVID-19. As a country, we have to do better than ‘go home,quarantine, and hope for the best,’” said Neal Hunter, ExecutiveChairman, EmitBio Inc. “It’s a public health imperative thatevery person diagnosed with COVID-19 has a safe treatmentoption.”“We saw 99.9% mean reduction of SARS-CoV-2, whichrepresents three orders of magnitude – or a 1,000 timesreduction – in viral load,” added Nate Stasko, Chief ScientificOfficer, EmitBio Inc. “Even more notable, we saw viralload continue to drop even after the light treatments werecompleted. The longer infected individuals go untreated, thegreater the probability of disease progression with increasedlikelihood for viral transmission to others. We believe that themassive decrease in viral load we observed will also have asignificant impact on secondary community transmission.”93
