WELCOME ...
to Wcw a’i Ffrindiau - a special
magazine for under 7’s. This
supplement is created specially to help
non-Welsh speaking families to join in
the fun. With every issue, we include a
translation of the whole magazine.
Why?
If your children are learning Welsh at
school, it’s vital that they use the language
outside the classroom as well - that’s the
route to success. WCW a’i ffrindiau will
make Welsh interesting and exciting for
your children ... and will help you pick up
the language too.
How?
On these pages there are translations of the
pages in the magazine. We use numbers and
colours to help you find your way around.
The translations are more or less word for
word.

HELLO FRIENDS
It’s St. David’s Day
(Dydd G[yl Dewi) and
Mam is making leek
(cennin) soup (cawl).
I’m going to help.
I go to the garden to
look for leeks.
At last, here they are. A
whole lot (llond lle) of
yellow (melyn) flowers.
I gather a wingful (llond
adain) of the flowers
and take them (mynd â
nhw) to Mam.
“Here you are, Mam.
Leeks for the cawl!”
Mam laughs. “These are
daffodil flowers (blodau
cennin Pedr) not leeks!”
And Mam shows a
big green vegetable
(llysieuyn) with a white
bottom (gwaelod).
I look disappointed.
But then Mam brings
the cawl.
She has put a daffodil
flower by the bowl.
“That’s pretty (del –
north; south – pert),”
