WELCOME 

TO SUMMER! 

Temple University has been offering summer camps for more than 30 years. For 

Summer 2021, we are planning to hold in-person camps at our suburban Ambler 

campus location in a traditional day camp format. In addition, we have several online 

camps scheduled throughout the summer. Camps are available for youth entering 

grades 2 through 12 and will be held during the months of June, July, and August. 

SESSION SCHEDULE 

For Summer 2021, we have structured our in-person camps into one 2-week session 

and two 3-week sessions. 

Session 1 (2-week camp): June 21 to July 2 

Session 2 (3-week camp): July 6 to July 23* 

Session 3 (3-week camp): July 26 to August 13 

All camps take place Monday‒Friday from 9 AM to 4 PM. 

*No camps on Monday, July 5 

In addition, we have a variety of online camps scheduled throughout the summer 

starting June 7 and ending August 27. Online camps vary between 1-week and 3-week 

sessions. 

HEALTH AND SAFETY STATEMENT 

We recognize how important the health and safety of our campers and camp staff are. On-campus 

camps at the Ambler campus will practice social distancing, and all campers must wear masks when 

indoors. Campers may remove masks when outdoors and appropriately socially distanced, and when 

eating or drinking. Of course, if a camper wishes to keep their mask on at all times, they are welcome 

to do so. We will encourage campers to wash their hands as much as possible or use hand sanitizer. 

We will attempt to schedule most of the camp activities in outdoor settings for youth in grades 2 

through 7. If situations change and we are not able to hold camps on campus, all camps will be

STEM Academy: Middle School 

Edition 

Embark on engaging challenges in 

mathematics, science, and computer 

science. 

Math challenges will be 

individualized based on the current 

level of achievement and will include 

fun applications and incentives. 

The science program will focus 

on “neighborhood ecology.” The 

underpinning life and physical 

science will be incorporated as 

students make measurements on 

samples collected using simple 

and safe materials. Data collected 

from students will be shared and 

discussed. For example: 

• What is the pH of my soil? 

• What plants benefit from that 

pH? 

• Is there a storm coming? 

• What is the atmospheric 

pressure? What is in that 

standing water?

STEM Academy: Middle School 

Edition (continued) 

Our computer science curriculum 

will incorporate instruction in Python 

programming and applications to “big 

data,” appropriately sized data for 

middle school students. 

Finally, multiple robotics challenges 

will be offered. As campers progress 

through the activities, challenges, and 

competitions, they will earn Temple 

tokens, which can be used to purchase 

items from the TU-STEMstore.

Putting on a play is more than just costumes, 

applause, and bows. Discover what an 

audition is like. Play games that develop your 

confidence and improve your skills. Create 

and act out monologues and short scenes. 

Campers will perform for parents at the end 

of the camp session.

Intensive (Online) 

Explore and trust your unique writing voice 

through a writing workshop that affirms 

writers, builds confidence, and creates a 

supportive writing community. Explore all 

genres of writing including short stories, 

poetry, prose, plays, song lyrics, spoken 

word, novels, and graphic novels.

for Teens 

Do you get nervous when asked to speak 

or give a presentation? Discover how to 

express your thoughts, persuade others

a screenplay, from the basics of structuring 

your story to finalizing your masterpiece.

The following policies apply to most summer camps at Temple University. 

REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT 

Payment, in full, is due upon registration. Payment includes the camp fee as well as any materials or 

computer lab fees. Register and pay by credit card at noncredit.temple.edu/summercamps. Or call 

the Office of Non-Credit and Continuing Education at 267-468-8500. We accept Visa, MasterCard, 

Discover, and American Express. You may also mail a paper registration form, along with a check or 

money order made payable to Temple University. We regret that we cannot accept credit card payment 

by mail. Cash is also not an acceptable form of payment. Please register for camps at least 2 weeks 

prior to the start of the session. 

WITHDRAWALS AND REFUNDS 

You must request a withdrawal in writing at least 3 weeks prior to starting date of the camp session. 

Withdrawal requests received less than 3 weeks prior to starting date of the camp will not be entitled 

to any refund; however, a transferable credit to another camp session may be possible upon the 

approval by the Associate Vice Provost, University College. Withdrawals requested at least 3 weeks 

prior to the start date will receive a refund minus a withdrawal fee, based on the schedule below, 

according to the price of the camp: 

• Up to $499 – $50 withdrawal fee 

• $500 to $999 – $100 withdrawal fee 

• $1,000 to $1,575 – $200 withdrawal fee 

All withdrawals and refund requests must be sent in writing to ncce@temple.edu. We regret that we are not able 

to provide refunds if the withdrawal request is made less than 3 weeks prior to the camp session start date.

CAMP DISCOUNTS 

At the time of registration, a 10% discount may be applied to summer camp fees as follows: 

• Early Bird Discount – Register by April 30, 2021. 

• Sibling Discount – Register 2 or more children for camps during the same session. 

• Multiple Camp Discount – Register 1 child for 3 or more camps throughout the summer. 

• Temple Employee – Employees of Temple University are entitled to a 10% discount for any camps. 

NOTE: Only one discount applies. You may not combine discounts. The maximum discount per camper 

family is 10%. 

Hours of Operation: On-campus camps are offered as full-day camps, from 9 AM to 4 PM. Campers 

may be dropped off as early as 8:30 AM. Camp ends at 4 PM and parents must pick up campers by 5 

PM. We regret that we do not offer additional before- or after-hours care.

You will be sent information about camper drop-off and pick-up locations prior to the start of your 

child’s camp session.
