to elevate cerebrospinal fluid pressure may be markedly exaggerated in the

in intracranial pressure. Furthermore, narcotics produce adverse reactions 

which may obscure the clinical course of patients with head inluries

acetaminophen) capsules or other narcotics may obscure the diagnosis or 

clinical course in patients with acute abdominal conditions 

Special Risk Patients. TYLOX capsules should be given with caution to 

certain patients such as the elderly or debilitated. and those with severe 

impairment of hepalic or renal function, hypothyroidism, Addison’s disease. 

and prostatic hypertrophy or urethral stricture

physical abilities required for the performance of potentially hazardous tasks 

such as driving a car or operating machinery The patient using TYLOX

Drug Interactions: Patients receiving other narcotic analgesics, 

antipsychotics, anti.anoiefy agents, or other CNS depressants, including 

alcohol, concomitantly with TYLOXcapsules, nay exhibit additive CNS 

depression due to the oxycodone component. When such combined therapy 

is contemplated, the dose of one or both agents should be reduced The use 

of MAO inhibitors or tricyclic antidepressants with ooycodone preparations

ADVERSE REACTIONS: The most frequently observed adverse read ions 

include lightheadedness, dizziness, sedation, nausea, and vomiting These 

effects seem to be more prominent in ambulatory patients than in 

non-ambulatory patients, and some of these adverse reactions may be 

alleviated if the patient lies down. Other adverse reactions include allergic 

reactions. euphoria, dysphoria, constipation, skin rash, and pruritus. At 

higher doses ooycodone has most of the disadvantages of morphine 

including respiratory depression. 

DRUG ABUSE AND DEPENDENCE: TYLOX (ooycodone and acetaminophen) 

capsules are a Schedule II controlled substance. Onycodone can 

produce drug dependence ofthe morphine type and. therefore, has the 

potenhal for being abused Psychic dependence, physical dependence, and 

tolerance may develop upon repeated administration of TYLOX capsules, 

and they should be prescribed and administered with the same degree of 

caution appropriate to the use of other oral narcotic-containing medications

prescribing.

Island Hospital, a 720 bed institution, and the Veterans Administration 

Medical center, a 356 bed institution, is seeking a full time Orthopaedic 

surgeon with specialty training in adult reconstructive surgery and research 

experience in his or her area of expertise. The successful candidate 

must qualify for a fulltime faculty appointmentat Brown University 

at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Full Professor rank 

in the Department of Orthopaedics. 

Qualifications for the position include completion of a residency program 

in Orthopaedic Surgery and specialty training in adult reconstructive 

surgery, demonstrated ability to conduct independent research and provide 

support to an already established independent investigative program

or eligible for Board certification in Orthopaedic surgery with an interest 

in teaching, patient care and advancement of knowledge.
