Estonian Pop Animation<br />
The screening will be introduced by the art historian,<br />
critic and the editor-in-chief of the magazine kunst.ee<br />
Andreas Trossek, who compiled the program. The<br />
program presents films made between 1973 and 1979<br />
in the drawn animation department of Tallinnfilm, the<br />
only cinema studio in the Estonian SSR. The studio<br />
employed artists that were largely influenced by<br />
Western pop art like Aili Vint, Leonhard Lapin, Sirje<br />
Runge, Priit Pärn, Ando Keskküla and <strong>Rein</strong> Tammik.<br />

An abstract film with a high level of generalization about a man’s<br />
dream of flying and the realization of this dream. In 1974, The drawn<br />
animation brought the first international recognition to a group<br />
of young animators at Tallinnfilm. Director <strong>Rein</strong> <strong>Raamat</strong> employed<br />
writer Paul-Eerik Rummo as the screenwriter, painter Aili Vint as the<br />
background artist and <strong>Rein</strong> Rannap, who was the founding member<br />
of the rock group Ruja, as the composer.<br />
