During the 1990s PILOT produced mostly advertising, music clips,
and television shows like Fruttis Attic (Чердачок Фруттис, 1997-1999).
In 2002 Tatarsky and his team created a new successful project
about the peoples of the Russian Federation – Mountain of Gems.
He was the artistic director, screenwriter, and co-director of some
episodes with Valentin Telegin. He was also a laureate of the State
Prize of the Russian Federation (1998) and Merited Artist of the
Russian Federation (2000). In 2007 Tatarsky died of a heart attack at
the age of 56.
