From the desk
of Robbie
Well February has been a busy month, two of our networks are now
meeting live, Long Beach and Menifee and as other networks find
that their restaurants are safe to return they will but currently the rest
of our networks are meeting on zoom. It’s a challenge as still many
members do not like zoom so are not SHOWING UP for meetings but
perhaps as they see that that is the new norm for the world they will be
more willing to step out of their comfort zone. They are missing some
dynamic speakers and the opportunity to learn so much that will help
them personally and professionally. I love this quote by Richard Branson
“If somebody offers you an amazing opportunity but you are not sure
you can do it, say yes – then learn how to do it later!”
February has been another busy month of new members joining GSFE,
we had a total of 14 new members from all across the country including
CA. Some I already wrote up in the February newsletter as they joined
earlier but here is the whole list of new February members, they are:
Di Carter, Dr Marian Cintron, Alicia Couri, Sharyee Cressler, Daniella
DeMotte, Angie Henry,Roslyn Taylor Jordan, Annmarie Kelly, Nadine
works with parents on home schooling. Optimum Stages is an unique
homeschool service that meets the needs of families that seeks outside
resources in a nontraditional school setting. Their website to learn more
is optimumstagesoflearning.org
“If somebody
offers you
an amazing
opportunity
but you are
not sure you
can do it, say
I also had a surprise this month Allignment.com selected me for the winner
of the “Local Business Person of the Year” so that was a surprise and I am
most grateful to all that nominated me.
Our book has been picked up not only on Amazon.com but also Barnes
and Noble and Walmart.com so that was exciting and we are getting great
reviews of people who have been reading the chapters with the 46 coauthors
so that also was exciting.
Congratulations to Daniella Bumann who launched her book this month I am
in the processing of reading it and its great. I also had the honor of writing a
testimonial in the book. It is so exciting to see our members writing books as
everyone has a book in them. Can’t wait to see Chebra Dorsey’s book she is
working on and Violet Williams book should soon be out. Joan Wakeland is
now working on her second book. Once you write one the next one is easier
to do as the fear is gone.
I am going to try and set up some book signings with my co-authors at
Barnes and Noble for our book, so next month perhaps we will have some
update on that.
Carl Wilson has three books in the works so that is terrific because in each
book he is giving numerous people the opportunity to be a part of the
book can’t wait until they are out. Thrilled that my publisher and GSFE sister
Angela Covany (angelawcovany@gmail.com is working on Carl’s books with
Marcy Decato who did his cover. Angela also is working with others to get
their books published as well. Others like GSFE member Lori Raupe another
one of our creative geniuses on getting a book out is working on some
books to be published for others. Also another great contact to get a book
out is Virginia Earl also a GSFE member earlvirginia@gmail.com. All come
with great expertise and have a track record so check them out.
Remember what I said everyone has a book in them so stop just thinking
about it, take action and check with these three ladies and see which one
works for you the best as they are all three very amazing and talented. Get
your book published in 2021.
Our Canadian member Laurie Davis is doing some training classes on how
to do better Zoom meetings and Podcasts and several GSFE members have
jumped on board for that. Also Caprice Crebar is such an expert on using
facebook and her presentation for the Hemet GSFE meeting this month was
fantastic,She is the go to person if you want to master facebook. All of
these ladies can be found on the master membership list that all members
get each month, there you will find their contact information,
Angela Covany is stepping into the role of Co Director for the Menifee GSFE
meeting to fill the space vacated by Angeline Benjamin. Angela is still also
the Director of the Ventura GSFE network. Angeline moved to Arizona and
is now running a Digital zoom meeting for GSFE on the ist Thursday of the
8
Global Society For Female Entrepreneurs - www.globalsocietyforfemaleentrepreneurs.org
month at noon. Her first meeting February was packed with our members from other states as
well as CA members and was great, the speaker Ursula Mentjes was as always amazing and lives
in MN.
All the directors have amazing speakers lined up this month and every month so if you are not
SHOWING UP you are losing out.
It is great to hear that many of our members are getting their vaccine, some have gotten one
shot and a few are on their second shot, I am waiting for my second shot appt and hopefully
before the newsletter comes out I will have gotten it.
I wish for you all a very happy International Women’s Day March 8th and also a happy St Patrick’s
Day March 17th and most of all I want you to be healthy, happy and successful. Also, Happy
Birthday to all our March Birthday GSFE sisters of which I am one.
Until next month, smile, step out of your comfort zone and show up at our meetings and most of
all know how fantastic you are!
Remember “YOU have NOT because YOU ASK NOT” and
Keep SHOWING UP and ASKING, it’s powerful”
Our GSFE February Meeting was held
on February 17, The attendees
were very grateful to Caprice Crebar
when she shared “The Benefits of
utilizing Social Media in your business
“ I got positive feedback! Caprice has
shared her knowledge with others
and wants to help. Online marketing
is the wave of the future. Many
people did not want to do Zoom
Meetings while others welcomed
this platform with open arms. I highly
recommend attending Caprice’s
workshop in March, if you missed
that one I am sure there will be
another. When we use Zoom as a Sales Tool, those who fear rejection should respond ok since it
is not a face to face meeting.
You also get more exposure, global exposure without bothering your friends and family! It is
therefore a good tool.
Join us on March 17 at 12 noon Pacific when Kimberly Anderson will be presenting “Intuition in
Long Beach
GSFE
Diana Londyn
Ilja Haverkorn
By Diana Londyn, Director
Our February meeting had 17 in attendance which included three guests, those attending
were:
Emmy Bell a guest of Barbara Berg, Janice Bermudez a guest of Frances Caldwell,
Ellen Bitters, Francis Caldwell, Angela Covany the director of Ventura GSFE and Co-
Director of Menifee GSFE, Karen Douglas, Ilja Haverkorn the co-director, Nadine LaJoie
a new member of Long Beach, Dr Cherilyn Lee a member of the West Hollywood GSFE,
Marlena Martin, Robbie Motter, our speaker and founder of GSFE, Gwendolyn Palmer,
member of the West Hollywood GSFE, April Sutton a guest of Dr Lee, and Erika White
and Daisy (her 94 year old mother)
It was great to see everyone standup and introduce themselves, tell us who they were
and how we could help them, as helping our members is one of the benefits GSFE loves
to do for members.
We missed our Director Diana Londyn who was on location in Florida but was on top of
things by phone & coordinating invites along with the event. The meeting was run by
co-director Ilja Haverkorn who did a great job. Both Diana and Ilja handled a situation
the day before quickly when they found out a pipe had burst at the Jade Restaurant
where we normally meet and quickly had to find another restaurant to hold the February
meeting which they did and then notified all the individuals that had rsvp’d of the new
location.
Robbie Motter the speaker talked about “SHOWING UP” and several of the co-authors
from her book” It’s All About Showing Up and the POWER is in the ASKING were there”
so she had them share why they felt SHOWING UP was so important for business and life.
Sharing great stories were Barbara Berg, Angela Covany, Dr Cherilyn Lee and Marlena
Martin, Robbie then opened it up to other members to share their concepts as well, and
sharing were: Ilja Haverkorn, Frances Caldwell, Nadine LaJoie, and Gwendolyn Palmer.
Robbie mentioned also that had she not SHOWN UP over the years she would not have
met several people who were sitting in the room and had the opportunity to introduce
them to others as well as to GSFE. Lots of great points in the sharing came out to make
everyone understand even more why they need to SHOW UP and ASK.
Global Society For Female Entrepreneurs - www.globalsocietyforfemaleentrepreneurs.org
29
Robbie also mentioned had they not shown up today they would not have met a distinguished
guest at the meeting, April Sutton who is a Television Broadcast Pioneer, Humanitarian and a
Delegate of the United Nations. She was also one of the youngest inductees in the broadcast
Hall of Fame in 1993, for her outstanding coverage of Hollywood for 12 years on the B.E.T.
Television and CBS Network. In 2005 she attended the United Nations General Assembly as
a Special Delegate in New York. Because she SHOWED UP she came back to New York with
a new set of goals and partnered with Yale University and Adidas to send thousands of shoes
to Tanzania and Kenya. She also has her sights on creating a annual event in Los Angeles to
support Humanitarian causes and continues sending aide to African Villages. Because she
SHOWED UP and was doing these powerful things her efforts were noticed by the President
of Kenya and she was honored her and became an Ambassador. So it’s like Robbie always says
“Showing UP is like a Treasure map you never know what treasure you will find and look what
this dynamic woman found because she SHOWED UP. ASKED and took action !
Also Long Beach GSFE had three birthdays Ethel Love Feb 7, Ellen Bitters, Feb 10, Denise
Tomson, only Ellen was present at the meeting, also Dr Cherilyn Lee a member of West
Hollywood has a birthday Feb 21. We all sang Happy Birthday to the Birthday girls and Ilja had
brought a beautiful chocolate birthday cake which we all enjoyed. Karen Douglas brought a
balloon to Ellen Bitters. We all love celebrating birthdays. Prayers for 2 of our members, Elaine
Gordon & Darlene Horvath who are Sisters and recovering from Covid.
Everyone was glad to be out and meeting live in person not on zoom and it was another great
GSFE meeting, so hope to see you next month at the Long Beach GSFE meeting will be back
at the Jade Restaurant on March 15th at 3PM. Stay tuned for our flyer circulation for details in
text or email.
Global Society For Female Entrepreneurs - www.globalsocietyforfemaleentrepreneurs.org
I don’t even know where to begin at this new beginning... on one hand, I’m sooooo glad 2020
is over... on the other, here comes 2021... and I honestly don’t know how I feel about it yet. Like
many, I had to make some changes and tough decisions last year.
My first decision of 2021 was choosing my “word(s) of the year”: PASSION and CHANGE. Even
amid the challenges, I am doing my best to stay positive and hopeful. I’m rediscovering what I’m
passionate about and being reminded that change doesn’t equal “bad”.
My next decisions are as follows:
• Good Ol’ Gals is NOT closing its doors! Having built an incredible organization that has
evolved into “the most fun women can have doing business” AND celebrating 13 years in
December, we WILL continue to provide a platform for female entrepreneurs/business owners
to connect on both personal and professional level.
• The GOG Gala, which was to be held at the end of January, must be once again postponed
until later in 2021. Be sure you are on the GOGs email list and stay tuned for more to come
• Jordan & Jordan Marketing is still OPEN FOR BUSINESS and will continue to provide expert
marketing services including a revival of the Marketing Mastery Interactive Workshops If
interested, email sljordan@jordanjordan.com.
• The Business Explosion and the Business Women’s Mega Mixer annual events WILL be held,
just not like I had originally thought... INTRODUCING....
MEGA BOOM 2021! This blended event will bring
together all of the most amazing, incredible and
highly-acclaimed aspects of the individual events
into ONE SPECTACULAR EXPERIENCE with a
new agenda, new features, new opportunies, new
connections and new beginnings!
Don’t just save the date... commit to participating
and make it a HUGE celebration, a high-note
ending for 2021 and a grand kick-off for 2022!
The new website(s) are not ready yet as promotion
begins in April (provided things are
moving in the right direction).
In the meantime, for more
info, email or TEXT me...
sljordan@jordanjordan.com
Thank you all for your continued
support! Much love to you all!
February we had a dynamic speaker Bonita Bennet where we went through the process of
discovering our strength and purpose as we uncover our drive to push forward in our work.
Everyone was able to share, laugh, connect and “breakout” so that we could support each other
in the spirit of GSFE.
During the last few months we have joined our meeting with the Los Angeles chapter to leverage
this time until we are able to reconvene. As restaurants continue to open up and outdoor seating
continue to expand we will be working on securing a location as we build our connections within
the community.
Virtual Thursdays at
GSFE
Angeline Benjamin
By Angeline Benjamin, Director
We have our new Virtual network meeting through zoom on Thursday evening,
February 4th, 2021 at noon PST.
Angeline who just moved to the Phoenix area, AZ, a virtual GSFE director, lead
the meeting. We had several attendees from out of state and one from the
Bahamas. We are very excited to have this new virtual meeting because we
want to accommodate our out of the area, out of the states, and International
members to network with us when most of our network group have live
meetings. Additionally, we want to allow our local members to expand their
business networking opportunities beyond the Southern California areas.
Ursula Mentjes, a national highly sought speaker, three-time Bestselling Author,
Award-winning Entrepreneur, and Sales Expert was our speaker at our first
meeting. Her topic was: “ Powerful Strategies to Sell in Uncertain Times.” Her
message to all of us is: Anything is possible! We have the power to choose our
goal! We need to put it on the universe! We need to have a clear vision of what
we want. Ursula asked a simple question to all of us: “How much money are you
willing to receive? We learned a lot from her. Some of her powerful messages
are:
• Use projection model
• Follow-ups are critical – you need to do it several times
• You are coming from a place of service, because you care, your clients/
customers want you to follow-up
• Come-up with a new belief, “I am a professionally persistent problem solver”
• You have to be consistent
Ursula also provided us with a tool (a handout) called: “6 Secrets to Doubling
Your Sales (Revenue)”
In addition to her powerful presentation, she offered to all attendees (exclusive
price for GSFE organization) a special live workshop via Zoom called: “2 Days
Live with Ursula and Team” (Retail Value $ 2497) – for only $297.00 and you can
bring a guest. The live workshop will take place on March 10-11, 2021, 7:00 AM
-12:00 PM -PST. At the time of our meeting, she only had 7 spaces left.
This month, we are excited to feature Annmarie Kelly, our new Virtual First
Thursday GSFE member, from West Chester, PA, who joined us in January. Let’s
welcome her to be part of our GSFE sisterhood.
Annmarie Kelly has been MARRIED SEVEN TIMES! Each marriage lasted just five
years – and each one was to the same man, Joseph Eagle. She and Joseph have
a unique way of living their marriage – and now Annmarie is sharing her secrets
to marital success with women.
Annmarie Kelly is a speaker, podcast host, author of several books focused on
women’s empowerment, the CEO of Skill Builder Systems, and founder of The
Victorious Woman Project. Her main areas of focus are helping mid-life women
create exciting new life chapters and showing single, professional women –
and many already-married women – how to escape the “‘til death do you part”
stranglehold of marriage.
For over twenty-five years, Annmarie’s had the pleasure of working with many
women, helping them get unstuck, reconnect to their life’s goals, and shape
challenges into new beginnings through both “live” and online seminars,
webinars, and workshops.
Annmarie’s focus on women’s empowerment grew out of her early struggles
to become independent, self-sufficient, and in-tune with her own personal
power. Growing up in an old-school Italian family, she was a classic “good
girl” – right up to the time she figured out there was no real benefit to making
everyone else (but herself) happy.
Before she started writing books and speaking professionally, she had a
diverse work background. She was an elementary and middle school teacher,
real estate agent and office manager, the developer/manager of the corporate
university for a large Better Homes and Gardens real estate company, and –
through her own business – a corporate trainer focused on management and
communication skill-building.
Annmarie’s books include: Victorious Woman! Shaping Life’s Challenges into
Personal Victories (2005), Victory by Design (2008) and The Five-Year Marriage:
Shifting the Marriage Paradigm (2018). She is also the host of the digital show
Not Your Mother’s Marriage and the Victory Chicks Radio podcast (formerly
the Friday Happy Hour on WCHE in West Chester, PA). She pioneered May’s
International Victorious Woman Month and hosts the annual Victorious Woman
Celebration and fundraiser, the Girlfriend Gala. She has been honored with the
ATDPHL Leadership Award (twice), International Women’s Day Outstanding
Service Award, President’s Call to Service, awarded by President Barack
Obama, Neumann University’s Distinguished Alumni Award, and is a Literacy
Hero nominee.
66
Global Society For Female Entrepreneurs - www.globalsocietyforfemaleentrepreneurs.org
Annmarie grew up in the Philadelphia suburbs. She loves being “down the
shore” in Avalon, New Jersey, or hiking in Down East Maine. She is an avid
5 Main components of
BRANDING
In the next 5 issues I will be covering the 5 main components of BRANDING.
Let us start with you MISSION STATEMENT:
If you don’t have a specific mission statement yet for your company, I hope you take some time
to work on it.
A mission statement is essential throughout all aspects of a company, influencing it in
these key ways:
72
• Creating identity
• Attracting talent
• Guiding culture
• Developing purpose
• Improving performance
• Building community
• Envisioning the future
• Aligning behaviors
• Encouraging critical thinking
A strong mission statement should use clear, compelling language that is easy for most people to
understand. A good mission statement should be:
• Persuasive
• Encouraging
• Strategic
• Achievable
• Unique
$600 CA Stimulus Checks Approved
For 5.7M. Do You Qualify?
Newsom signed a $7.6 billion “direct relief” package Tuesday morning that will place $600 in the
hands of 5.7 million Californians.
Some 5.7 million Golden State residents who qualify could receive a $600 state stimulus payment
after filing their tax returns. The checks are part of a coronavirus relief package approved by the
Legislature on Monday. (California Governor’s Office/YouTube)
CALIFORNIA — Some 5.7 million Golden State residents who qualify could receive a $600 state
stimulus payment after filing their tax returns this year. The checks are part of a coronavirus relief
package approved by the Legislature Monday.
Gov. Gavin Newsom, who authored the “direct relief” package, signed the legislation into law
Tuesday morning at Solomon’s Delicatessen in Sacramento.
The so-called “Golden State Stimulus” checks are part of a $7.6 billion coronavirus aid package
that includes more than $2.1 billion in grants and fee waivers for small businesses and another $2
billion in tax breaks for businesses.
Who will get the stimulus?
Generally, those who are eligible are Californians who have an annual income of $30,000 or less.
Those who have individual tax identification numbers and make $75,000 a year or less will also
qualify. Many such payments will go to people living in the country without documentation.
“Regardless of your status, those who have been left behind in that federal stimulus, California is
not going to leave you behind,” Newsom said Tuesday morning.
Low-income families who receive assistance from the federal supplemental security income or
state supplementary payment programs will be eligible. Those who benefit from CalWORKS,
California’s welfare-to-work assistance program, will also benefit and will recieve payments on
debit cards, the Los Angeles Times reported.
Some will be eligible under both categories and could receive up to $1,200.
The one-time payment could arrive to Californians over a month after they file 2020 tax returns
with the state Franchise Tax Board, the Times reported. Those who sign up for direct deposit
could see the money a bit sooner.
The governor on Tuesday highlighted the importance of lending a hand to workers who don’t
have legal documentation after he traveled to Kern County on Monday.
“I had the privilege of being in Madera, some 12 or so hours ago; farm workers, food workers
never took a day off, never complained and were there to make sure that everything was on
your table and tables across this country,” Newsom said. “I’m very honored to be here today
as governor of the state that’s not leaving those folks behind as it relates to legislation that
addresses their need, and provide relief directly, not only to individuals, but households of mixed
status.”
The package deal will also include fee waivers for qualifying restaurants and bars licsenced
under the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control and those with barbering and cosmetology
licenses.
“We need to rise to the challenge of helping our small businesses and nonprofits that have been
deeply impacted by COVID-19,” Senator Henry Stern (D-Los Angeles) said of the relief package in
a Tuesday statement. “Our small businesses will be feeling the impacts of coronavirus for months
and years to come. We need to prioritize this heavily impacted space not just to safeguard our
economy, but to ensure that people have the opportunity to get back up on their feet.”
The plan will also include aid for community college students.
California’s own stimulus checks match the federal stimulus of $600, providing upwards of $1,200
to some Californians who qualify for both state and federal payments.
“In these darkest moments of the COVID-19 pandemic, this Budget will help Californians with
urgent action to address our immediate challenges and build towards our recovery,” Newsom
wrote in a statement in January.
Newsom laid out his $227 billion budget plan last month, which included a $15 billion economic
relief package, as the state faced the height of its winter surge of coronavirus cases and
hospitalizations.
This budget proposal, reportedly the most expensive budget in California’s history, was made
possible by a windfall that came down from California’s wealthiest residents and growing tax
revenue despite the anticipated economic shortfall of the coronavirus pandemic.
