Suriname is geographically located on the north coast of South America, which
made it vulnerable to colonialisation. Thus, most believe that its history begins
as a “colony of England in 1650 and then from 1667 to 1954 a colony of the
Netherlands."
The history of Surinam began before Christ with the first communities of
Arowakken and Cariban indigenous, who established the foundations of Surinamese
culture with their sincere respect for nature.
Only recently did the English, French and Dutch enter Surinamese waters with
their ideas of commerce and colonization. They occupied the lands with plantations
and brought African slaves, who mainly fled into the jungle and resumed
their West African culture in the so-called "maroon (runaway slave) villages.”
Here they formed a community, a family, built on (and connected by) blood,
sweat and tears.
When slavery in Suriname was officially abolished on July 1, 1863, Indonesian,
Indian and Chinese immigrants came and shared their own cultural identity.
Although they were treated better than slaves, they too suffered from poor
provision and gender inequality with a discernible income gap.
By fighting for their rights, and above all, by respecting each other's customs,
they formed a society with multicultural cuisines, coutures, languages and holidays.
This gave Surinam, the smallest country in South America, the biggest
personality.

Wan bong fu tang boeng (one tree for well-being)
With an area of 163,821 km², Suriname is the smallest country in South
America, covered by approximately 80% pristine Amazon rainforest. It contains
numerous natural resources such as biodiversity, freshwater sources, and
cultural heritage.
The Amazon, also called the "lungs of the earth" because it exchanges oxygen
and carbon dioxide, can also be called the “kidneys of the earth,” because it
catches rain and leads it into the ground where plants can use it for
photosynthesis. It is then returned to the atmosphere and into the wind so that
it starts raining somewhere else.
But the Amazon is also the “bowels of the earth” that exchange nutrients
between soil and vegetation, fueling the nutrient and carbon cycle.
Furthermore, we can think of the rainforest as “the heart of the earth” because
it controls ecosystems.
Finally, the Amazon is called "The World's Largest Medicine Cabinet," because
about 25% of all Western medicine came from the rainforest. That's impressive.
Naturopath, Richard Cullimore developed an herbal tea that was able to
treat Covid symptoms, demonstrating that all solutions can really be found in
nature.

Have you ever heard of sonar? The ultrahigh sounds that bats use to navigate in
the dark? And whales and dolphins in the water? You have probably heard that
they can tell their surroundings based on the echoes of sound they can hear
around them.
But did you know there also animals that can feel their way around with electricity
and magnetism!? You might be familiar with electric eels that can generate
electricity in the water. They can “see” under water with this electricity.
But even more familiar animals can sense electricity. Sharks have tiny sensors
all over their bodies they can use to sense the electric fields and use that to orient
themselves to the magnetic field of the planet. Basically, a kind of compass.
Outside of water, a great many animals can also sense the magnetic fields.
Birds have tiny magnetic particles in their beaks that help them find their way
when they migrate. Bees can sense the electric fields around flowers and can
even tell when the flower was last visited by another insect

But the most astounding thing is
that even dogs, cows, and foxes can
sense the earths magnetism! If you
see cows grazing in the field, you
can see many of them align in the
same direction. Foxes are more successful
hunters if they pounce on
their prey from the north. And dogs
are known to poop, ahem, while
facing north more often than any
other direction.
Some even claim humans can sense
the fields, although it’s very slight.
You can test for yourself! Try lying
down with your feet pointed north
and you head south, aligned with
the earth’s field. Feel anything in
your feet or in your head? Then
turn around so your head is pointed
north and your feet point south.
Feel any difference? If you did, congratulations!
You have felt the magnetic
field of planet earth!

“Wij zijn wie we zijn, al hoe klein”
Wat maakt een mens?
Ik heb het dan niet over: productie, biologische elementen of zelfs
kleding(die de man ook wel maakt), maar, wat maakt een mens,
wie h/zij is?
We komen op deze aarde zonder te; praten, haten en geloven dat niemand ons zal verlaten.
Het geslacht word eerst bekent, en dan pas wordt de rest verkent.
Daarom komt geschiedenis niet voor onze identiteit, maar wel omgekeerd!
Ja, onze voorouders hebben voor ons gestreden. Maar WIJ vochten eerst, voor ons leven!
Geschiedenis vormde onze karakter. Gemeenschap gaf ons normen en waarden, en de
Geografische ligging, reguleringen en grenzen om ons te wijzen waar een ideologie eindigt en een ander
begint.
Geslacht, Geschiedenis, Gemeenschap, en Geografische ligging.
Maar door "kolonialisatie" gaat dit, omgekeerd.
De geografische ligging van Suriname, aan de noordkust van Zuid-Amerika maakte het vatbaar voor kolonialisme,
zo geloven de meeste dat zijn geschiedenis begint met: “Suriname was vanaf 1650 een kolonie
van Engeland en daarna van 1667 tot en met 1954 een kolonie van Nederland.”
Maar een mens is een mens, onafhankelijk van zijn bezit, en een land was een land voordat het werd genomen
als een bezit!
Dus begint de Surinaamse geschiedenis, al voor Christus met de eerste gemeenschappen van Arowakken
en Caraïben, die de fundering van het Surinaamse cultuur vastlegde met hun authentieke respect voor de
natuur.
Tot de komst van de Engelsen, Fransen en Hollanders die de Surinaamse wateren beroerd met hun handel,
de gronden bezette met plantages en Afrikaanse slaven. Doordat veel van deze het binnenland in,
vluchtten, hervatte zij hun West-Afrikaanse cultuur, in de zogenaamde “Marron(weggelopen slaaf)
dorpjes” en vormde een Gemeenschap, een familie, niet alleen verbonden door bloed, maar zweet en
tranen.
Toen de slavernij in Suriname, officieel werd afgeschaft op 1 juli 1863, kwamen Indonesische, Indiase en
Chinese immigranten, met hun eigen culturele gewoonten. Alhoewel deze beter werden, behandelt dan
slaven, hadden zij ook te kampen met slechte voorzieningen en genderongelijkheid met een opvallend
loonverschil.
Door op te komen voor hun rechten, en vooral het respecteren van elkaars culturele identiteit vormde zij
een samenleving, waardoor wij vandaag de dag, getuige zijn van: multiculturele keukens, klederdrachten,
talen en feestdagen. Hierdoor het kleinste land van Zuid Amerika, de grootste persoonlijkheid kreeg.
Wien na wang(Surinaams voor “wij zijn 1” De vijf punten van de gele ster in de vlag van Suriname staan
voor de vijf voornamelijkste bevolkingsgroepen.

“Wan bong fu tang boeng”
( één boom voor welzijn)
Een bekende dichter van Suriname,
leerde ons de Surinaamse samenleving
zien als: “wan bong”(Sranan voor één
boom). Een boom, die net het volks diversiteit,
veel bladeren heeft groot en
klein, maar toch danst op 1 refrein.
Zo zien wij dat alhoewel de verschillen in
haarsoorten, kleur, taal en verhalen, wij
toch het hardst, samen stralen!
Met een oppervlakte van 163.821km², is
Suriname het kleinste land van Zuid-
Amerika, die voor meer dan 80% bedekt
is met ongerept Amazone regenwoud in
het zuiden, met talloze natuurlijke
rijkdommen in termen van: biodiversiteit,
zoetwatervoorraden en cultureel
erfgoed.
Het Amazon die ookwel de “longen van de aarde” wordt genoemd, omdat het
zuurstof en kooldioxide uitwisselt met de atmosfeer. Kan in deze termen ook de
“nieren van de aarden” zijn, omdat zijn water stromingen,regen opvangen en
naar de grond toevoert, als planten het dan opnemen bij fotosynthese wordt
het vervolgens teruggevoerd naar de atmosfeer en in de wind zodat het ergens
gaat regenen.
Even zo is het de “ingewanden van de aarde” die voedingsstoffen uitwisselen
tussen de bodem en de vegetatie, waardoor de nutriënten- en koolstofcyclus
wordt aangewakkerd.

Ten slotte kunnen wij het regenwoud zien als “het hart van de aarde” , omdat
het ecosystemen aanstuurt, met zowel boven als onder-grondse organismen,
die de wereld uiteindelijk gezond maakt.
Als wij kijken naar dit levensbelangrijk “lichaam” is de waardering van de binnenlands
bewoners dus te begrijpen. Deze hebben generaties lang de natuurlijke
wonderen ervaren, door de kennis van hun voorouders. De Indianen geloven
sterker nog in natuurgodsdiensten, waarbij geesten- en voorouderverering
een grote rol spelen.
Corona
Toen in 2020, ook de Wayana Kawemhakan dorp in Suriname, kreeg te
voortduren met het covid-19 virus werd ook deze ziekte met natuurkennis bestreden.
De zogenaamde “Wataki thee”, verhielp besmette een week na het
drinken van alle covid-verschijnselen. Natuurgenezer, Richard Cullimore ontwikkelde
ook een kruidenthee die covid besmette wist te helen. Om te bewijzen
dat alle oplossingen echt in de natuur zijn te vinden.
In de westerse geneeskunde is ongeveer
25% van alle geneesmiddelen
afkomstig uit het regenwoud
waardoor de Amazone ook de titel
"The World's Largest Medicine
Cabinet" kreeg. Dat is indrukwekkend,
omdat minder dan
5% van de Amazon plantensoorten
zijn onderzocht voor medicale doel
einden.
Het wordt dus tijd voor het respecteren
en documenteren van
Wan bong!

Heb je wel eens gehoord van
sonar? De ultrahoge geluiden die
vleermuizen gebruiken om
s’nachts in het donker te zien? En
die walvissen en dolfijnen in het
water gebruiken? Ze kunnen hun
omgeving “zien” dankzij de
Maar wist je dat er ook dieren
zijn die kunnen zien met behulp
van electriciteit en magnetisme?!
Je hebt vast wel gehoord van de
sidderaal: die maakt zijn eigen
stroom aan waarmee hij kan
“voelen” wat er in het modderige
water zit waar hij in leeft.
Ook welbekende dieren kunnen de electriciteit om hun heen aanvoelen. Haaien
hebben allemaal kleine sensoren in het lichaam waarmee ze elektrische velden
kunnen oppikken. Daarmee kunnen ze zich orienteren aan het magnetische veld
van de aarde, die van noord naar zuid loopt, net als een kompas.

Maar zelfs op het
land kunnen veel dieren
het magnetische
veld van de aarde
waarnemen. Vogels,
zoals duiven, hebben
kleine magnetische
stukjes ijzer in hun
snavel die hun helpt
bij de trek van het
noorden naar het
zuiden en terug. Bijen
kunnen de elektrische
velden op bloemen waarnemen, en zo zelfs weten hoe lang geleden
de bloem voor het laatst is bezocht!
Het meest bijzondere is wel dat vossen, honden en ook koeien het magnetisch
veld van de aarde kunnen waarnemen. Kijk maar eens naar grazende koeien:
die staan meestal met zijn allen dezelfde kant op te grazen. Vossen hebben
meer succes bij de jacht als ze van noord naar zuid springen, en honden
poepen, ahem, het meest met het gezicht naar het noorden of zuiden.
Er wordt wel eens beweerd dat ook wij mensen het magnetisch veld van de
aarde kunnen aanvoelen, ook al is het maar een klein beetje. Probeer eens met
je voeten naar het noorden en het hoofd naar het zuiden te gaan liggen. Voel je
iets bij je voeten? Draai nu eens om en lig met je hoofd richting noorden. Voelt
het anders aan? Dan heb je het magnetisch veld van de aarde gevoeld!
