The new Intouro from Mercedes-Benz is the epitome<br />

of efficiency – and once again manifests its<br />

pioneering position as a cost-conscious, versatile<br />

and reliable link between town and country.<br />

The Intouro is suitable for a variety of uses.<br />

In addition to the classic interurban service, this<br />

includes, for example, use as a shuttle bus, as a<br />

bus for transporting staff within a plant or factory<br />

and, depending on the country, also as a school<br />

bus. Due to its wide range of features, the new Intouro<br />

is also suitable for excursions and short trips.<br />

The Intouro impresses with equipment that is more than<br />

suitable for everyday use. With an interior headroom<br />

of more than two metres to the front of the rear axle,<br />

there is plenty of space for standing passengers in<br />

regular service. The exterior and interior design are as<br />

straightforward as they are distinctive. The interurban<br />

bus is available in a basic version or, optionally, in the<br />

premium version with design package.<br />

Cockpit Basic<br />

The driver’s area is designed along ergonomic principles. The Cockpit Basic has a<br />

multifunction steering wheel and all the instruments are clearly arranged and<br />

easily accessible without changing the seating position. The multifunction steering<br />

wheel and the high-resolution TFT colour display with intuitive stack-and-cards menu<br />

simplify work in the cockpit behind the wheel.<br />

Interior<br />

The passenger compartment of the new Intouro has a modular design, with<br />

individual versions ranging from strictly cost-oriented interurban buses to<br />

comfortable equipment for excursions. The seats are arranged on platforms and<br />

can be moved up to the front of the rear axle without any incline, while numerous<br />

convenience extras such as TravelStar Eco seating or service sets with nozzle<br />

ventilation and reading lights are available for upmarket leisure travel.<br />

Exterior<br />

The new Intouro’s body reflects the clear design language – from the steeply rising<br />

windscreen and the brand-typical unit of grille and headlights to the straight side<br />

walls. These are almost seamlessly smooth and, like the rear end, have a strictly<br />

functional shape – which is visible, for example, on the engine flap without ventilation<br />

slits. Bumper corners and the door 1, which is made of sheet metal in the lower area,<br />

ensure ease of repair.<br />

State-of-the-art safety standards are a matter of course in Mercedes-Benz buses<br />

and coaches – it was not just a coincidence that the anti-lock braking system (ABS)<br />

was first installed in a starred vehicle. Ongoing new and improved safety systems<br />

continually guarantee optimum protection for drivers, passengers and other road users.<br />

To ensure that you always feel safe and protected, our buses and coaches always<br />

have the latest revolutionary technologies on board.<br />

The world premiere in the Intouro:<br />

Active Brake Assist 5.<br />

ABA 5 supports the driver by automatically initiating emergency braking if there<br />

is a risk of a rear-end collision with vehicles in front or with stationary obstacles.<br />

It also detects moving or stationary persons in front of the vehicle. The system<br />

reacts to this with an acoustic and visual warning to the driver and simultaneous<br />

partial or full braking.<br />

Electronic Stability Program (ESP®)<br />

The Electronic Stability Program significantly reduces<br />

the risk of skidding by, for example, counteracting<br />

the vehicle’s swerving through targeted braking of<br />

individual wheels.<br />

Sideguard Assist<br />

Makes turning even safer: Sideguard Assist warns<br />

the driver of moving or stationary objects next to the<br />

vehicle – and thus also protects other road users.<br />

Electronic Braking Assist (BAS)<br />

By constantly comparing the data, the electronic<br />

brake assist system immediately detects if the speed<br />

at which the brake pedal is pressed suddenly exceeds<br />

the usual level, and in such situations automatically<br />

boosts the maximum braking power to within fractions<br />

of a second. This significantly shortens the stopping<br />

distance of the bus.<br />

Bi-xenon headlamps<br />

Compared with halogen headlamps, bi-xenon<br />

headlamps mean better illumination of the road surface<br />

with less energy consumption and a longer life.


Extra safety.<br />

Lane Assist (SPA)<br />

Lane Assist SPA detects when the vehicle<br />

unintentionally leaves a marked lane. If it<br />

crosses the markings, the driver is warned by<br />

a clear vibration through the driver’s seat.<br />

training for bus drivers you minimise<br />

accidents – and maximise the safety of<br />

Rain-light sensor<br />

The rain sensor and automatic driving light are<br />

assist systems that activate automated<br />

functions by means of a sensor system and<br />

relieve the driver of routine tasks.<br />

AquaBlade® windscreen wipers<br />

The AquaBlade® windscreen wipers ensure<br />

optimum visibility at all times and, thanks to their<br />

ergonomic design, minimise both driving noise<br />

and fuel consumption.<br />

Active Brake Assist 5 (ABA 5)<br />

The world premiere in the new Intouro: Active<br />

Brake Assist 5 is the first emergency braking<br />

assist system for buses and coaches that can<br />

react to pedestrians with emergency braking.<br />

The new Intouro has built-in cost awareness – for good<br />

reason. The Operation, maintenance and possible repairs<br />

are associated with expenses. Over a third of the costs<br />

incurred can and should be actively influenced. Durable<br />

high-tech components, an optimised vehicle platform and<br />

the new Driver Score assist system make the new Intouro<br />

a prime example of economic efficiency.<br />

Fuel consumption<br />

The drive is based on tried and tested economical<br />

components. All engines, axles and gearboxes carry the<br />

star; all drive components are perfectly matched. Thanks<br />

to a weight reduction of about 300 kg and improved<br />

aerodynamics, fuel savings of up to 3% can be achieved.<br />

consumption, maintenance and repair costs. The<br />

Intouro stands out in all categories and meets the<br />

requirements of a cost-conscious interurban bus.<br />

The new Driver Score assist system offers the driver<br />

important support. The driver’s driving style can be<br />

continuously optimised with practical messages in the<br />

display. The system gives scores in four categories –<br />

Acceleration, Braking, Smoothness of Drive, Coasting.<br />

Also relevant is information on the vehicle status, such<br />

as low levels of fuel, AdBlue or engine oil.<br />

The OM 470 from Mercedes-Benz is powerful and<br />

high-torque and meets the highest demands in terms<br />

of environmental friendliness. Thanks to intelligent<br />

technology, it is stronger and significantly more<br />

economical. The OM 936 series heralded a new era in<br />

compact commercial vehicle diesel engines. The use of<br />

modern, high-strength materials opens up unimagined<br />

performance dimensions.<br />

Electronic vehicle components (e.g. Engine Control Unit) contain data storage for vehicle technical data, including but not limited to Diagnostic<br />

Trouble Codes in the event of a malfunction, vehicle speed, braking force, or operating conditions of the Restraint System and Driver Assistance<br />

Systems in case of an accident (no audio and no video data recording). This data is either stored as a volatile, e.g. Diagnostic Trouble Codes, over<br />

a short period of time (a few seconds only) e.g. in case of an accident or in aggregated form, e.g. for component load evaluation. The data can be<br />

read using interfaces connected to the vehicle. Trained technicians can process and utilise the data to diagnose and repair possible malfunctions.<br />

The manufacturer can use the data to analyse and improve vehicle functions. When requested by the customer, technical data can form the basis<br />

of additional optional services. In general, data from the vehicle is transferred to the manufacturer or a third party only where legally allowed, or<br />

based on a contractual customer consent in accordance with data protection laws. Further information regarding storage of vehicle technical data<br />

is provided in the vehicle owner’s manual. Mercedes-Benz Buses and Coaches naturally handles customer data confidentially.<br />
